|Do you want death?| Alaric stops. |That's a stupid question. Of course you want death. You've been brainwashed to think that's your only choice. If you fail -- which you did, and spectacularly so -- your only reward is death. Self inflicted if we don't oblige. Of course, therein lies the problem. Letting you go is tantamount to cutting your throat. Then again, do we have a moral obligation to force you to live when you don't want to?|

Mel smiles, bowing her head to the older man. |Thank you very much.| She pays (either the man directly or someone else in the shop if that seems more appropriate. |I look forward to seeing your beautiful work.|

Sounds good.

Mostly a note for me, but Mel would like to pick up a masterful 2-man tent.

"I think Ameiko was going to toast young love, am I not correct?" asks Shalelu.

Ameiko nods, and Shalelu removes her hand.

"To young love!" says Ameiko.

"... but seriously," she adds, sotto voce, as the toast is answered, "... 'mazed they're not dead of exhaustion."

Mel's hug on Zaiobe tightens a bit for a minute as she leans her head against the red-head's arm. She smiles around at the drunken antics, not entirely following the conversations, but happy to be there... even as an apparent outsider.

Z:
<Z, sweetie, how in the world did you get Lio as drunk as Shae all by yourself?> Amazed wonder in her mind.

Mel, as always, accepts and carefully returns Lio's hug. Quietly, "I don't need anything. Congratulations, and I'm so very happy for you."

There is a tinge of confusion in Melinda's bearing, but so slight that it probably doesn't register in any drunken senses. "I am very glad that you are happy."

Male Human (Ulfen) Oracle of Battle 10

The guards' reactions appear to give Hrunndalf a migraine. He nods at Kalimac's assessment of the situation, and rolls his eyes at Liothonae's barb.

Kas see toimib?"

Halfling:
Looks like we need to save their honor to save their lives. So let's say we take them along as guards... Next time we get in a fight and they do their part, we thank them for saving our lives, pronounce their debt settled, and send them back. Would that work?

Looking back at the prostrate guard, he mutters, "Ma ei ole üllatunud, nad ei suutnud meid. Keegi siin elab piisavalt kaua, et õppida oma vigadest."

Halfling:
I'm not surprised they failed us. Nobody here lives long enough to learn from their mistakes.

Male Human (Ulfen) Oracle of Battle 10

Upon Melinda's collapse and Alaric's diagnosis, Hrunndalf supplies her with additional Lesser Restorations until the damage is once more undone.

Hrunndalf has 7 2nd-level slots for the day, and can start using higher-level slots if necessary. He also carries a wand of Lesser Restoration for emergencies. But unless the DM considers it likely that more combat should ensue before the next morning, I suppose we don't need to keep track of the exact numbers?

Melinda:
Perhaps half a second later, Zaiobe's golden eyes suddenly widen even further. <... oh gods below a striptease that I complete forgot during my drunken confession to you that I told Liothonae not half an hour ago I wouldn't mention because she's worried that if it gets back to Alaric he'll freak out for some reason because he's your great-grandmother I mean you're her great-grandmother I mean she's your I think I got it right that time and now maybe I have to make a drunken confession to her tonight as well because I'm a terrible person.>

After thanking Hrunndalf, Mel comes up behind Alaric, one hand on his back, sad, she looks at the woman, "Ma pigem lase tal ise valida, isegi kui see tähendab, et ta läheb tagasi mõrtsukate ja muudavad meie elu raskemaks." She looks at Rhost, "Ma alati valida loll."
"Then someone who has a knife cut her loose."

Mel reaches up to where her karambit normally holds up her hair and looks truly annoyed at the reminder that they haven't been allowed weapons. A quick glace around shows the katanas... which the guards would be annoyed if she picked up. So instead she turns to one of the guards, |May I borrow your knife, please?|

"Do you need anything?" Buttersnips asks quietly.

Myri's hand tentatively snakes out from under the covers and finds something Buttersnips (probably leg or hand) to make contact with.

Lio, still standing protectively by Shae, consults with Sandru as to how long the caravan will take to pack up and get moving. Once she has an idea of how long they have, and provided Ameiko has no immediate further input, she says to the guard at her feet, |Go home, fetch your immediate family, pack what is most important to you and what you and they will need for the foreseeable future as quickly as possible. I realize you may wish to die, but you will hardly earn redemption in our eyes if you are dead. So your first punishment is that you will live. You have x time before we leave. Now please get up and do not cast yourself down at my feet again.|

Once the soldiers take their leave, and the disgraced guard has gone to fetch his wife, Lio turns to one of the blue people, and asks, |I do not know the customs of this town very well, so please forgive me if I speak innapropriately, but would it he possible for someone to arrange that his home and things are preserved for him while he is gone, until he returns?|
