Ava will head right and peer carefully through the hole.


Miraculously the stumble from Enko as he passes the door appears to go unheeded. The snores from the left door continue and the nattering voices from the right door continue without pause. Ava pokes her head and it's a large doorway with stairs leading up to the next level. Taking the next few steps on quiet feet she peers onto the next floor, what is actually the main level for the building. She see's a large hall with a set of doors on the far wall, but no doors to the right. There are 7 goblins (which she can see) in various stages of foolishness around the room, from knife juggling, to pull-your-hand-from-under-the-falling-axe, to seeing how long one can keep their toes in the fire they have burning in the middle of the room. 4 goblins are doing the fire game, with two playing with the axe, or hatchet, and one attempting to juggle knives in the corner.

Flex Time:
Lucon seems to grow more and more troubled. As his companions press deeper into the goblin den, his mind appears to be elsewhere, on home and hearth. The sight of a friendly face has done little to calm his worries, and the events of the day before seem to wear heavy on his mind.

He eyes the tiefling with silent trepidation, greeting him by averting his eyes to the grimy floor. He follows along in the back of the marching order trying in vain to wipe the viscous goblin blood off of his weapon, shaking the blade around awkwardly and casting several worried glances over his shoulder.

Surprise I'm Alive:
Lucon will press as close to the door as he can, gripping his shield tightly as he barrels through the doorway, attempting to knock one of the goblins into the firepit and casting his eyes around the room. If you look closely, you can see him silently counting the goblins, his guard wide open.

Surprise Round

Ava will hurl a dart at one of the axe goblins(goblin7) in the corner, making sure not to attack the same one as anybody else. The dart embeds itself deep into the goblins eye, and it slides noiselessly to the floor, much to the surprise of the nearby Goblin.

Amon sends a slingstone hurling toward goblin4's head. The stone causes his head to whip forward and the goblin seems angry at his companions, not sure who hit him.

Lucon will press as close to the door as he can, gripping his shield tightly as he barrels through the doorway, attempting to knock Goblin2 into the firepit and casting his eyes around the room.If you look closely, you can see him silently counting the goblins, his guard wide open. The goblin is able to just dodge the large mans charge and maintains his balance next to the firepit. The room now goes completely silent as the creatures realize they are now under attack.

Enko whips a bullet at one of the two goblins near the exit on the left, striking the creatures shoulder with a crack.

Corneleous attacks with the crossbow crossbow and drops it to the invisible entity at his shoulder, who immediately sets about reloading it. The bolt slams into the knife wielding goblin at its throat, pinning it to the wall. It's juggled knives clatter to the ground around it.

Caladius steps into the room and looses an arrow at the most distant goblin6, the one remaining axe wielder, and his arrow buries itself into the goblins gut. It doubles over the arrow with a grunt of pain, and then topples to the side.

There are four goblins remaining, all around the central firepit, and their surprise has worn off. They all have blackened toes and appear unarmed.

Goblin3, a female from the look of her, decides things have gotten too heated in the room and moves to the stairs leading up, making it up about 5'.

Amon hurls another sling, hoping to bring Goblin5 down completely, but misses wide.

First staring down at the cowering goblin with a grimace, but the gentle carpenter moves on to his next target, exposing his back to the craven creature. The still surprised goblin4's skull staves in under the force of the sword strike.

Enko moves to push goblin5 off its oversized feet, following up with a viscious hand-chop to it's neck. Something snaps as he connects and Goblin5 lies still. He feels for his own nose to check its size self-consciously.

The viscount shouts, in goblin, "Any who want to live must drop their weapons and lay down on the floor. Those still holding weapons or standing will die, and we shall write their names on their tombstones with the blood of their entrails." If possible, the miserable Goblin2 cowers deeper into the wooden floor. I'll let you decide if Goblin4s running away counts as aggression or not. It would miss regardless. :(

Caladius snaps off a quick shot from his bow at Goblin3 on the stairs, but the arrow narrowly misses the lucky goblin.

Please post Round 2 in spoilered fashion. From current positions, Ava will have 1 shot before Goblin3 is out of visual range, everyone faces partial concealment.

Round 2

Goblin3 turns and spits some nasty language your direction, spittle flying from her toothy mouth, and runs the rest of the way to the next floor, making it to the top of the stairs.

Amon hurls one last sling stone, trying to bring Goblin3 down. All he can see is one side of her body and the top of her head, and his stone flies straight and true, smacking the back of her head with surprising force. The Goblin3 nearly goes down, but is able to remain standing, barely.

Lucon turns as Cornelius speaks in the Goblin tongue. You see him shiver slightly as he makes his way to Goblin 2 and attempts to pin him, squirming to the floor. The goblin2 manages to squirm out of Lucons grip, but otherwise remains submissive and afraid, casting wary glances at the room full of huge warriors.

Enko moves over to goblin2, hemming it in and adding his intimidating presence to Lucons.

The Viscount reaches for his crossbow and looses another quarrel after moving a little closer to the middle of the room. Like Amon, luck is with him, and the bolt finishes off the woozy, hard-to-hit goblin at the top of the stairs.

Combat is over!
Upon searching the room you find 2 hand axes, 5 daggers (2 of them in the broken condition), and 13 sp the goblins had on them. The goblin stares around at you, his features shifting from hateful, to fearful, depending on if he knows he's being watched or not.

"Calm yourself, creature." Lucon says, in the manner of a parent to a stubborn child. He grabs the Goblin firmly by the wrist. "You need only point us to your leader."

The goblin widens his eyes as if surprised at his luck, then squints them in a sly fashion. He points up at Lucon, but after a moment you realize he's pointing past the carpenter to some point on one of the above all of you. "King Whitechin up high-high-high! Climb till can't no more and you finds 'em. Err, 'im!"

Turning to the viscount, the goblin starts jabbering in his own language.

Caladius stalks over, glowering at the goblin's grammatical correction, "Thanks." He then casually lashes out with a crushing right hook.

Unarmed strike (power attack, non-lethal): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15for: 1d4 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Regardless of whether the goblin collapses or not, he then growls, "That was for torturing me, imp."

The goblin wilts as the tall tiefling approaches, "Horny-man welco-" anything else he was going to say is cut off as Caladius slams his fist into the goblins tough head. The goblin sprawls back, knocked completely senseless by the blow.

Lucon furrows his brow and peers over his shoulder, squinting to see what the goblin is looking at and leaving his neck exposed.

Ava readies another dart and begins towards the stairs, ascending if nobody stops her.

Lucon raises a hand and opens his mouth to offer assistance, but Ava is already gone. He grumbles something and gently lays the unconcious goblin on the ground.

Straightening up, he adjusts his poorly fitting breastplate and winces at a pain in his back. He gives Caladius a hesitant smile, as if not sure the tiefling won't suck the soul out of him as he opens his mouth. "That was some punch."

Turning to Lucon, Caladius chuckles as he shakes the pain out of his hand. "And goblin heads are harder than they look."


Apologies, lots of work to do before the break.

Ava peers around and can see, with her enhanced vision, that the 2nd floor seems completely dark, rivaling the basement. There are no torches here, but the light from the fire in the main room does allow some light to make it to the 2nd floor landing. She see's a hall with several doors on either side, and can just make out a door at the very end of the hallway.

Huh, might be my work computer, but I don't have access to see that map.

"I could show you how to hurt your hand less, Caladius...though I doubt I will ever hit that strongly," says Enko, smiling at the far larger tiefling.

Ava will retreat back down the stairs for now, patting Enko on the shoulder as she goes past. "Another corridor," She speaks to nobody in particular as she arrives at the bottom of the stairs once more. "It's clear for now. Dark. There's six more doors, all of them closed."

Ava places her chin in her palm as she tries to recall how many levels this building looked like it had.
