Hello all,

It's like the title says...I have so fallen in love with the newly released Gothic Heroes pregenerated characters that I would love nothing more than to run a Carrion Crown pbp for players who want to play as these fantastically designed PCs. I know this may be a stretch, because I suppose most players favor the use of their own creations...but what the hey, I'll give it a shot and see if anybody fancies a look. Consider, also, that we'd be able to jump right in and start playing quickly, so that's one clear advantage. I actually have experience in running several pbp/pbem games in the past, so I think I've got the chops to craft a fun game for all concerned.

I'd run the game for a minimum of four players, and probably up to as many as six. There are actually 8 pregenerated characters, though, so if we get 8 interested people, I'd think about splitting into two separate groups of four. Ideally, players should be decent writers, interested in characterization, and certainly able to post at least 5-10 times per week.

If this sounds at all like your cup of tea, please do have a look at the product page: Gothic Heroes. Note that it won't be necessary to purchase the product yourself, I'll provide everything you need.

At a glance, here are the pregenerated characters for your perusal.

Agrimar Vaskel, LG male half-orc paladin of Iomedae (undead scourge)
Dominnia Vorsaife, NG female aasimar summoner and her eidolon, Theodric
Eilinica Ziorec, CG female human cleric of Desna
Ereviss Cierdel, CG male elf bard (detective)
Jevalt Ardain, N male dhampir inquisitor
Merenso Kull, NG male half-elf ranger (skirmisher)
Xiuj Hak Leyng of the Seven-Ghost-Needles, LN male human alchemist
Ysabot Vaskel, CG female changeling witch and her cat familiar, Persimmon

If interested, please feel free to express interest in one or more particular characters. Looking forward to hearing from some eager players!

Just out of curiousity:

Is this PBP or Vent/Maptools?

Do you want the players to stick to the prewritten personality of the characters, and if so what are those personalities?

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32

Definitely sounds like my cup of tea :)

Dotting for interest, interested in trying out the detective, the skirmisher or the alchemist. Don't have the book though :(

Oh, and also could you please post the alignments of those characters?

This is a PBP here on Paizo's boards.

Your second question is a very interesting one. Basically, I would like to have the players use the provided backgrounds (including links to the Professor and, in some cases, one another), and use the provided personalities as guidelines for role-playing. Ultimately, though, it will be up to the player to play the character...I'm never going to step in and tell someone they're role-playing 'wrong'.

If anyone wants more details about a particular character, just provide me an e-mail address, and I'll be happy to send some.

Shadow Lodge

Hmmm... this might be the only way I get to play Carrion Crown myself. Right now I am running two games and have all the mods and such.

But with a pre-gen I would need to stay in the character they designed and play like they would react.

So as long as your ok with me possible knowing what "might" be around the next bend - random encounters and DM changes of course can make things unexpected. I would like to play in a Carrion Crown pbp.

5-10 per week and very fluffy post are a can do.

Cool! Don't worry about not having the book, I'll be happy to send you the details. Just let me know how you'd like to receive the info.

And, in response to your last request, I updated my initial post to include each PC's alignment. Ask and ye shall receive!

I'd be fine with taking you on board, Lost Gamer. What would be your top three choices for characters?

Agrimar Vaskel, LG male half-orc paladin of Iomedae (undead scourge)

and

Ereviss Cierdel, CG male elf bard (detective)

Are the two I am interested in. The Detective more then the Paladin honestly.

Email: bluedragonlord23 AT gmail DOT com

Oh and posting habits:

I can post at least once a day during the week, possibly twice. My work schedule prevents more then that sadly.

On the weekends again, at least once if not twice a day.

I tend to be short but descriptive. I don't feel the need to be flowery. I have not played in a few months.

Stomphoof, I sent you the fluff for the two PCs you requested. Let me know what you think.

I honestly like the Half Orc. I have a huge thing for honorable stoic people, and I love half orcs.

So I would want the paladin :)

Well, you posted first in the thread, so....he's yours. :)

You're the first officially accepted, we just need a few more.

When are you intending to start?

Also once you send me his character sheet I can get an alias put together for the boards

I'm prepared to start as soon as we have a complete party of 4-6. I'm hoping that will occur within the next 2-3 days.

I'll send you the crunch for Agrimar shortly.

Thanks for adding the alignments!

Actually upon further research, the Inquisitor also sounds quite tempting, detective and alchemist slightly less so. Could you please send the data on the Inquisitor and the Skirmisher at

Interesting concept, using pregens.

I'd like to take a look at the Human Cleric and the Witch.

Liberty's Edge

I might be interested in either Ereviss Cierdel, CG male elf bard (detective) or Jevalt Ardain, N male dhampir inquisitor. Send fluff to dagda21 "at" gmail "dot" com

Shadow Lodge

Color me interested. I'd enjoy either Agrimar Vaskel, LG male half-orc paladin of Iomedae (undead scourge), Dominnia Vorsaife, NG female aasimar summoner and her eidolon, Theodric, or Xiuj Hak Leyng of the Seven-Ghost-Needles, LN male human alchemist.

email = cgott777 AT hotmail DOT com

I am more than capable of regular posting (with the possible exception of when I go on work rotation for about a week). Deep immersion character role-play is my cup of tea, and I just saw these yesterday and wished I had them more the players in my home CC game. I love paladins for all the psychodrama, summoner is one of my new fav. classes, and I've been itching to play an alchemist for a while now. The name throws me off though, so I might have to read up on him before I know whether or not I'd enjoy playing him.

Scarab Sages

I'm interested in:
(in order)
Jevalt Ardain, N male dhampir inquisitor
Ysabot Vaskel, CG female changeling witch and her cat familiar, Persimmon
Merenso Kull, NG male half-elf ranger (skirmisher)
Xiuj Hak Leyng of the Seven-Ghost-Needles, LN male human alchemist

My email is in my profile.

I'm all over playing the personality provided.

Shadow Lodge

Just noticed the paladin's been called. Ignore my request for him then. I'll look into the other two.

Shadow Lodge

Let me see... First I was wondering if you got eight players (and I'm sure that's a possibility) What would the party make up become?

My thoughts (though with out the sheets makes it totaly off the wall)

Group1:
Jevalt Ardain, N male dhampir inquisitor
Eilinica Ziorec, CG female human cleric of Desna
Merenso Kull, NG male half-elf ranger (skirmisher)
Xiuj Hak Leyng of the Seven-Ghost-Needles, LN male human alchemist

Group2:
Agrimar Vaskel, LG male half-orc paladin of Iomedae (undead scourge)
Ereviss Cierdel, CG male elf bard (detective)
Ysabot Vaskel, CG female changeling witch and her cat familiar, Persimm
Dominnia Vorsaife, NG female aasimar summoner and her eidolon, Theodric

Noting the lack of trapfinding - wonder if that was intentional or just to add to a little more flavor. Just my thoughts.

Top 3 in order would be...

#3 - Merenso Kull - He doesn't like the name Merenso so "Call me Kull." even though he doesn't look like a Kull.

#2 - Eilincia Ziorec - Who wouldn't want to play a cleric in Carrion Crown?!? LOL, Goggle asked me if I meant Elincia and the images came back with a green haired priestess - Would I be allowed to change her hair color? :)

#1 - Dominnia Vorsaife - I have yet to play a summoner (RL/pbp) mainly because I don't wish to get into the very involved generation process. This would be the best way to solve that for me and I could see what the class is like. She also sounds like a "face" character - I like face characters.

Stomphoof, I have just sent you the character sheet details for Agrimar. Sorry it took a while, I got pulled away from the computer this evening.

Shadow Lodge

Having looked over all the characters, I think I've decided (and on none of the ones I mentioned, oddly enough). Is it alright if I play Jevalt? I've been interested by the inquisitor, and would like to see how the class plays. Also, I think he could have some great rp with Agrimar as well as with the situations that arise in the story (especially the 5th adventure).

flykiller, I sent you the fluff for the two characters you mentioned. Please do share your thoughts, you are next in line to select.

Update for all:

I have decided to make this game a first come, first served selection of the various character choices. Accordingly, Stomphoof was first, having selected the paladin. Flykiller is up now, and is on the clock. Lost Gamer will be next to choose.

Also, I have decided that running two simultaneous games will be too taxing on my time, so there will be just one campaign (sorry!). I will take the first six players, so first dibs belong to...

1. Stomphoof - Agrimar Vaskel, LG male half-orc paladin of Iomedae (undead scourge)
2. flykiller
3. Lost Gamer
4. Hu5tru
5. Daniel Stewart
6. LordHector

Alternates

1. Fray

I will send the requested character info to all of you, but please be patient until tomorrow. For tonight, I'm now off to bed.

Oooh that was a tough one... I think I'll end up with Merenso Kull after all. I am SO looking forward to see Jevalt in action though :)

Throwing my hat in the ring...

Shadow Lodge

That makes Dominnia Vorsaife for me, excellent.

Already excited to see what the eidolon's is. :)

Thanks for the opportunity.

Cool, consider it done. I'll send you Merenso's character sheet info later today.

Made up your mind already, hmm?

Very well, you'll receive all the relevant details later on today. I think you'll like the eidolon (I really do, anyway).

So, where does that leave us?

1. Stomphoof - Agrimar Vaskel, LG male half-orc paladin of Iomedae (undead scourge)
2. flykiller - Merenso Kull, NG male half-elf ranger (skirmisher)
3. Lost Gamer - Dominnia Vorsaife, NG female aasimar summoner and her eidolon, Theodric
4. Hu5tru
5. Daniel Stewart

Hu5tru, you're next to select, and both of your choices are still available. I'll send you the fluff for each later on. (Wish I could do it now, but I have to get out the door for work).

If you're curious, the concept for Xiuj Hak Leyng came from Clinton J. Boomer's twisted mind. And, when doing the background and personality, I based the alchemist pretty heavily off the Asian character Chiun from the Remo Williams Destroyer books (and movie). I don't know if you're familiar with that at all, but he's a pretty entertaining character. We just layered an alchemist template on top of him and provided character advancement notes to take him into multiclass levels as a monk.

"You know why it is called fast food? Because it speeds you along to the grave."

I loved that movie growing up. If anyone ends up playing him, I will have to look forward to the locating the pulse on the inner wrist technique. :P

Color me interested if anyone drops out. Inquisitor or Summoner.

I haven't seen the film, but I bought the characters. Having read over him, I like the character, but I don't know if I could get into the persona for a lengthy campaign. Part of what drew me to the alchemist class is the description of the iconic alchemist, Damiel's, inner torment over his addiction to mutagen. For Carrion Crown I want a character with a dark side to wrestle with, and Jevalt fits the bill for that one (as does Agrimar for that matter). Plus (and I'm not just saying this because you're here, Neil), Ashes at Dawn is one of my new favorite adventures. Its got a great Vampire: the Requiem vibe going on that I really like. And Jevalt has all kinds of great rp opportunity in that one especially. I'm quite excited for my players at home to finish up Wake of the Watcher to hit that one.

Of course I spoke out of turn (apologies for that one), so I may not get him after all. Barring Jevalt, my next choices would be Ysabot ('cuz with Agrimar, someone needs to play her) or Xiuj.

My apologies to the OP (Apothecary of Caliphas). I didn't mean to stick my nose in here quite so much. That said...

LordHector wrote:

When putting these characters together, there were honestly so many archetypes that could go that route (i.e., tormented, brooding, inner conflict, etc.), that I consciously wanted to steer away from that for the alchemist. Basically, I figured a lot of people might want to take their own alchemist PC creations in that direction and I thought it might be important to give another perspective on a different kind of alchemist you could take through the AP. Plus, Boomer's character concept was just all kinds of awesome. So, we ran with it.

LordHector wrote:

True. Either of those characters should serve well for that. Ysabot, too, has some elements of that woven into her past, too.

Cool. Looks like Daniel picks ahead of you though...and he seems to have some interest in Jevalt, as well.

I was wondering if anyone would realize their connection and opt to play the witch. She and the summoner, bard, and alchemist represent your only arcane casters. And again, I purposefully chose to avoid the full casting progression of a wizard or sorcerer so those character classes would have an opportunity to shine in this campaign. I'll be interested to see how things pan out for you guys.

I'm a bit down on your list, but color me interested, and I will fill any role needing.

Here's hoping someone has scheduling conflicts... ;)

Hi all,

I know many of you are waiting patiently for me to e-mail some information to you...I think it's going to have to wait until tomorrow morning, though. You see, it's actually my birthday today, and I think my wife is going to seriously injure me if I don't spend some family time. :)

All of you married folks out there know what I'm talking about...

So hang in there, and check those in boxes tomorrow morning, friends. Thanks!

So cool to have you looking in, Neil. I appreciate your insights and invite you to chime in the discussion as much as you like. You and the other authors have really created an outstanding product here. I can't wait to see what Legendary Games produces next!

Being a wife myself, I would be lurking around the corner with a sauce pan.

*laughs*

Hope your family made your birthday memorable.

Happy Birthday, Sir.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. My family helped it feel like a truly special day, despite my having to work. (And no one had to be bashed over the head with a saucepan, either). :D

That said, everyone else went to bed, and now I've had some time to play!

Progress to report:

flykiller, I've sent you the crunch for Merenso, so you can please create an appropriate alias and character sheet.

Lost Gamer, I've sent you the entire body of info for Dominnia and Theodric, so ditto goes for you.

hu5tru, I've sent you the fluff for both Eilinica and Ysabot, so please do let me know which you'd prefer.

Daniel Stewart, I've likewise sent you the fluff for both Ereviss and Jevalt. Your initial post stated you 'might' be interested, so please let me know if you'd like to participate in the game, and if so, which PC you want.

Let me know if any of you have difficulty with the e-mails.

I will run with Eilinica, the human Cleric of Desna. She sounds fun. :)
