Time for Argor's Air Elementals!


What visual examination the group can accomplish without exposing yourselves to the fumes makes it seem like the gas is coming from all the spilled chymicals. Without somehow washing out the entire room, it's likely the off gassing will continue even if the room were to be ventilated.

Mechanically, you have to save once you enter, and then once per minute spent in the room. Who knows what touching the actual chemicals would do to you.

I presume this can be deduced by observation...would water elementals work, having them flow across the surfaces real fast?


We should go back and get Nyugelle to come identify (and touch all of) the chymicals!


Argor doesn't know what effect water would have on the chemicals. Nyugelle might, might not. Hrim made the save before, so he could potentially enter the room for about a minute before needing to save again.


I would also allow circumstance bonuses on the saves if you wore masks or something.

DC 18 Spellcraft:
A spell like wind wall (that specifically mentions effecting gasses) would also work.

There are no visible creatures in the room. It looks like it would be very hard to walk though without getting knicked by broken glass and or covered in chemicals. Who is going in (besides Sabrina), and what exactly are you doing inside?

Not as far as I can tell. It's not called out in the scenario, and the Craft () skill description only mentions making things basically.

"Over here," Cladissa says as she makes use of her wings to glide across to a spot of interest across the room. She pulls out her dagger and uses it to push the debris away from the panel and see if it can be lifted up.

Taking 10 on a fly gets me a 22.

Under the panel is a small recess. Inside the recess is a locked journal, and a small lever.


Hrim holds his breath and stealthily flies into the wrecked alchemical lab. He concentrates on looking for any more demons.

Hrim flies next to Cladissa. He snatches the journal and stores it in his haversack, in order to study it later. Then, he pulls the lever.

What's the worst that can happen?

Through stinging eyes, Cladissa studies the contents of the recessed area and reports her findings. Then a shadow passes in front of her face and the journal disappears and the lever moves. "What the--?" she starts, and then looks up and gets ready for whatever may happen.

If there's time, she casts cat's grace on herself.

Sorry, missed this post somehow. I gave you darkvision just now. You can make acrobatics checks like I described every 10' to avoid slipping.


As Hrimnagel pulls the lever, there is a loud grating sound. A large segment of the western wall pops inward and slides out of the way. The opening reveals an ancient looking cavern. The entire chamber is surrounded by red glyphs, faintly glowing in the darkness.

Knowledge (Planes) DC 15:
The glyphs appear to be powerful wards designed to keep a demon restrained. Several of the wards appear to have failed. Finally, though some of the wards have failed, the room should still protected by a powerful magical energy that functions as dimensional anchor, preventing anyone from teleporting into or out of the room.

The ceiling of the cavern soars away out of sight. The floor of the chamber is split southwest to northeast by a thin crevasse that plummets into darkness. Standing before the crack is a massive demon. Graz’ith Ur Maurgith looks like a nightmarish cross between a toad, a horned lizard and a demonic ape. He is currently soaked in blood, and surrounded by crumpled bodies in brown clerics' robes. He is holding one badly wounded priest by the throat, whom he casually tosses across the chasm into the far wall. The cleric whimpers as he flops onto the ground across the cave. The noble demon turns to the Pathfinders, "Finally! I was hoping someone would do that!"

Eyes narrowing as everyone succumbs to the demon's power but himself, Argor reaches calmly for a scroll at his side. He unrolls the magic parchment, incanting the magic held within as his eyes flare red, imbuing a portion of his own power behind the spell. He then points a finger at the demon and sends a green beam straight towards it.

Rutai activates his wand, and the group feels a bit of hope fill their hearts. Argor's spell fail's to penetrate the demon's resistance to magic.

Graz’ith Ur Maurgith steps forward, moving with incredible speed. "Out of my way, pussy!" he shouts at Cole, biting at the familiar blocking his path.

Bite on Cole: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (8) + 17 = 25
Damage to Cole: 4d4 + 8 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 4) + 8 = 20
Grab: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (4) + 23 = 27

As the demon takes Cole in its teeth, its wretched mucus-laden saliva leaks all over the poor cat.

Cole immediately starts wretching. He's nauseated until until he succeeds on a DC 24 Fortitude save, or until a minute has passed during which he is not grappled by the hezrou, whichever condition comes first.

As per the Stench Universal Monster Rules, "A delay poison or neutralize poison spell removes the effect from the sickened creature." And guess what I just happen to have casted before this crazy demon hunt began?

No thanks to her awesome new tiger nose, Graz’ith Ur Maurgith's overwhelming stench easily overpowers Sabrina, leaving her paralyzed, greatly weakened, and barely functional.

Sabrina Churchill promptly rejects this reality and substitutes it with her own.

I don't feel like getting sick! the saber-toothed snake decides as she shoves the effects of the stench into the future for her six-hour-older self to handle.

Sabrina promptly leaps into battle and starts hacking away at the demon with all her might.

The paralysis round 1 was from a blasphemy, Sab. So that would have still effected you.

Also, in case it’s not clear from the way I wrote it, this thing is acting twice a round. Which is, you know, unusual.

Sabrina promptly leaps into battle and starts hacking away at the demon with all her might. Her teeth find no purchase on its slimy wrinkled hide. Her claws likewise have great difficulty penetrating the demon's skin, though she does manage to scratch the fiend a bit with her second attempt.

Hrim coughs and shivers as he suffers from the demon's stench. He shifts backward and requests divine blessings from Count Ranalc.

Graz’ith Ur Maurgith stares each Pathfinder in the eye. "Just want to remember your faces, so I can describe them properly WHILE I FLAY YOUR FAMILIES! Ta-ta, losers! The Labyrinth is coming for you................." With a disgusting chuckle, the demon teleports away with a puff a brimstone.

Cladissa's heart leaps in fear as she hears the demon's threat, but then looks down and feels somewhat relieved that her tavern maid's disguise was still up. She similarly feels relieved that Sabrina is currently a tiger, and that Hrim is one of Ranalc's exiles and lacks a family. Argor, too, is an orphan she recalls, although she suddenly feels fear for Imrizade -- though the Blakros's strength and protection should encompass her. Lastly, she considers Gianluca and wonders what family he has, and whether his very recent mutation will make it hard for his family to be tracked down.

Then she blinks and shouts, "COLE!" She moves to her familiar and quickly starts bandaging him.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
First Aid: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27

As her fingers work applying bandages and poultices on her familiar, she looks up at the others. "So, what now, then? We've just unleashed another demon on the realm. And what is the Labyrinth he spoke of? I don't think he's referring to Delirium's Tangle. Is this related to the Onyx Alliance, or is this yet another threat?"


Hrim pulls out the book that he took next to the lever from his haversack, "Argor, this journal was next to the lever that opened the door." The journal lands on the floor with a small thud, so the invisible wizard or devil can locate it. The usual small, thin voice is elevated in slight panic.


The wounded Caydenite priest in the binding room moans softly. "Helllp...."

Cladissa cradles her unconscious familiar in her arms as she stands up and moves into the binding room. "Hold still," she instructs.

She lays Cole down next to the cleric and begins checking on his wounds.

Heal: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27


He's down to low HP, but otherwise appears okay.

"The demons were torturing us, forcing us to break the binding runes. The others...they're all dead....how could this happen?!" The wounded cleric seems to be in a state of shock.

"The succubus brought us here and gave us to him. Yes, he was trapped in here before you opened the door. I had just weakened the runes enough to release him physically...if he had forced me to remove a couple more he could have teleported out. I was trying my best to handle the pain..."

::Yeah, sure. Instead of taking one for the greater good and dying valiantly like a hero as his god would want, this buffoon decides to be a coward and unleash yet another ancient evil on the world. I swear, Classy, I wish Team Good would show a little more spine! Whatever. I'm going to take point outside. Knowing our luck, another demon is sneaking up behind us::
