SPOILERS if your playing in this and don't want to know about this character...
Otherwise... I may have made a gaff regarding this NPC. We are currently playing a modified PF2e Revised Core version of this AP and my Players encountered him.
Thinking that the actual room threshold was the thing keeping our Elemental captive in the room, they planned a way to destroy it. Using a series of spells, hammers and other items at their disposal they blew the archway apart causing what I described as a disruption in the arcane field of the room... I may have been making stuff up and got carried away...
Upon re-reading the adventure this week, I cannot find it listed anywhere how the PCs might free him. And my brain is going full FOMO about it.
So my question to you O' great AoW forum host, should I just let them have this small victory and have the elemental be a source of info(because that's what he is) and a potential ally going forward.
OR
Should I have it seem like they freed him and as they make their way to the main shaft/room, our friendly neighborhood Earth Elemental begins to wobble and warp in a liquid like fashion as pieces of him begin to pool back to the room he was contained in. Eventually, all of him placed securely back in the egg formation/prison. All the while cursing the players for their betrayal or pleading with them for help? This way I can get them more involved with Allustan (or my genderswapped Allustra) back in town.
I'm of two minds about this, and wanted to get some feedback/opinions from my peers.
I don't want him to just spout out EVERYTHING... but I do want the players to be able to start figuring stuff out. Some of my players have played this before(back when it came out) but we're all older and have fewer brain cells... so they don't quite remember stuff.
Am I overthinking this?
Should this creature be a source of the Wind Dukes(spits gravel) and what he knows of rest of the complex? Maybe foreshadow false info about the Queen of Chaos and the revenge of Ogremoch? Stuff totally redherring with hints of truth?
IDK... I'm waffling this morning and needed to share and get some feedback.
Thanks!

Option 1: Let Them Win
Allow the players to think they’ve freed the elemental. It rewards their creativity and provides a chance for them to gain valuable information without revealing everything.
Option 2: Dramatic Twist
Have the elemental pool back into its prison, cursing or pleading with the players. This adds tension and sets up future plot hooks with Allustan (or Allustra).
Recommendation
Consider a mix: let them believe they’ve freed it, but include a slope game twist where it warns them of greater dangers before being pulled back. This keeps the excitement and intrigue alive.
