Hello!
Myself and my players are relatively new to Society play, but I would really love to earn some GM credit for running an adventure path. I think I understand how to apply credit to a character as a GM, but I'm a little fuzzy for my players, especially in regards to the level ranges specified in the Scoured Stars Adventure Path.
As far as I understand, my players will be able to apply each chronicle to a brand new or level 1 character. Does this mean they could save up all 12 chronicle sheets and apply them to a new character to bring them straight to Level 5?
It seems like if they choose to apply chronicle sheets to existing characters, they may end up with sheets they will never get to apply since they don't play in many other society games. For instance, Part 3 is Level 3-6 but their society characters will only have earned enough experience from Part 1 and Part 2 to be at Level 1 and won't be able to apply the next sheet until level 3. The effects then compound because the Adventure Path levels scale much faster than SFS experience.
Am I understanding the rules for applying credit for the adventure path correctly?
Thanks in advance!

Hey Slain Weasel!
I just spent time reading through the sanctioning for the AP.
It is true that your players will not be able to apply all the credit at once to a new Society character. But if they are not playing Society, they may not care much. Their AP character can level, and go through the whole AP without issue.
If they do decide to play their Society character, what it means is that they will start off with more credits at first level, and then level really quickly through other levels as AP chronicles become relevant.
Or... if this bothers you, you can fill in with other scenarios from some of the other exciting SFS narrative arcs. John Mangrum put together an excellent list that you can use to fill out the storyline and thrill your players.
I hope this helps! If you have questions or want more recommendations, we will be glad to make them.
Hmm

Thank you for the response! That makes sense, and I appreciate the resources. I think ultimately my players won't really be bothered about not being able to apply the chronicles to a character right away because they play so little society play anyway.

I'm currently running this AP for my home group, a couple of whom have played a lot of Starfinder Society and a couple who have played very little (or not in some time, anyway).
We've finished the first 3 adventures so far. Assigning credit for parts 1-2 was no big deal for anyone, and even my two less experienced players have characters in the 3-6 range to whom they can apply credit for parts 3-4. (One even has a level 5, from when they played more regularly a few years back, but I doubt the other does.)
I expect that all five of us will eventually have to start reserving some Chronicles for when a character reaches higher levels. I already know that I will need to do that for at least the last two adventures, because my only SFS character who has reached 11-14 was the one who I played the original scenarios with.
Whether you're able to apply a Chronicle immediately or not, you will still earn the Achievement Points for the session right away, and those can be spent on any of your Starfinder Society characters. So that's one more advantage that they will have, besides the extra wealth and XP.
