1 person marked this as a favorite.

I will come out and state first that I am new to preparing PFS 2e, and have zero hands-on experience doing for VTT.

Therefore my request would be for one or two of you "Done it a hundred times" GMs to do a podcast (or series) taking a year 1 scenario and walk us, newbies, through "GM Prep for VTT" 101.

Before you ask yes I would be willing to through my bag of copper and silver coins in to be able to watch/download this.

Thanks for thinking about it.

Prepping PFS scenarios is nothing like prepping an AP; it seems like you are looking for both? Glass Cannon podcast has a ton of resources for GMs (running APs and discussing them behind the scenes), and so does Roll for Combat. There are several options for you if you want to find deep discussions about the craft of GMing.

The process for prepping a VTT game truly depends on your platform, technical ability, and group needs… but by and large, it's a repetitive and mechanical process. There are several 101 guides out there for all the major VTTs (Roll20, FGU, Foundry, Slides).

As said, there are a lot of guides out there for the various platforms. Search around on Youtube, in addition to the two Doug suggested.

Personally, I've used Foundry and Roll 20 and I'd suggest Foundry - the set up of the platform itself is more complicated, but once you've got it up and running, the tools and content make it a lot easier - especially if you're not eager to either buy all the content again or commit to buying it only on the one platform. There's a Foundry module that lets you import most adventures if you own the official PDF. That takes care of most of the VTT specific GM prep, though you obviously still need to do the same kind of prep you'd do to run it in person. The maps and monsters and things are all in place and ready for you.
