Will they have playable vampires or will a player be able to take one of the ancestries and add the damphir versatile heritage to jury-rig a playable vampire?

I Mean they could already do the Dhampir thing.

But I think they did mention that vampires will be some kind of archetype.

I believe we’ve had skeletons confirmed as an Ancestry, and that vampires, ghouls, and mummies have all been confirmed to be playable, but as Archetypes. I could be wrong on that.

Vampires, ghouls and so on make the most sense as an archetype, as that way an existing character can get bitten and then become a vampire without having to remake the character.

I'm hoping we get zombie as an ancestry in this book, like we're getting for skeletons.

As others have already mentioned, most of the playable undead (including vampires) will be available as archetypes, the level at which a player will be able to take them will likely vary since not all undead are equally strong. (For example, they hinted at a Lich archetype, I highly doubt that the archetype will be an option before the higher tiers of play)

One thing I'm hoping for is that the Archetypes include at least a few of the "variants" for each playable undead, such as the Nosferatu, Vetala and Jiang-shi in the case of vampires.

Zombies are permanent slowed 1

But we are not monsters. We are characters, able to choose a class, get equipment and have a mind.

Good point, Zombie Players are permanent slowed 2 to balance things out with real zombies.

If you run into any zombie players, report that to the CDC or local equivalent and the WHO.

Looking forward to playing a vampire bard and just playing the Queen of the Damned soundtrack whenever I use a performance related ability.

I'd be really interested in how the undead ancestries work with organized play and the current Golarion mythos. My hunch is they will be largely incompatible or extremely challenging to integrate into a normal party. I love the Dhampfir heritage, but it's a challenge at best with negative healing.

Me too, as I'm very intrigued by the idea of playing a skeleton, since I've consumed too much media where skeletons are charming, vivacious party animals to find them spooky scary.
