What are the Must-Have Options for Summoner?

In the CRB playtest, Paizo folded most must-have options into the chassis of the classes. Are there any options for Summoners that are hardly optional and should be a given for all Summoners?


Not really, it's a strong base chassis but there really aren't any must have feats before level 14

For me? A multiclass bard, sorcerer or oracle feats have been a must.

So given to all summoners? Lower level slots as they level up.

18 in main stat for the Eidolon, Eidolon use of Apex, and either the Summoner's key ability turned to CON or a more valuable use for CHA; a choice between either CON or CHA would also be fine.

How can you say it's a strong base chassis? The Summoner is pretty weak before level 5.

I actually really want this, but passed on it at level 6 for Magical Evolution (Shield cantrip for AC/10 hp per encounter) and Reinforce Eidolon (combines with Shield for ultimate defense mode) alongside Medic.

I'm going to be counting how many times I really could have used it more effectively than what I had to do instead. Thus far, its just once.

This misses the point (though it's not the only one).

Those are alterations/additions, not current options that are so "must-have" that they should be ingrained into the class. Most answers would likely be feats nobody can pass up (being as those make up a majority of the options).

I don't feel like there's any summoner feats right now that are must-haves. There are some I really find attractive.

Tandem Move comes closest for sure, for the extra action economy.

Tandem cuz action economy.

That's it. Everything else before level 10+ is purely optional and feel free to take a dedication and get something interesting.

I'm going to go with oozemorph.

The only one for me is Tandem Move.

It is really hard to pass up and if I do, I feel bad. When talking on this forum, that is also the feat always brought up and used as an example of what the Summoner can do. If you just read the forums and don't look at the feats, I can see a lot of people just thinking it is part of the chassis.
