ACS at PaizoCon Online

Pathfinder Adventure Card Society

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/5 *** Premier Event Coordinator

In a addition to a full schedule of card games being offered at PaizoCon Online, 26-31 May 2020, we are offering the ACS Open Tournament. In order to facilitate it, we will need GMs to help us oversee the event. You need to be knowledgeable about the rules of the game system as well as familiar with the Tabletop Simulator used to display the game online. If this is something you are available for and interested in, please send an email to the paizoconleads@gmail.com address.

No, you cannot participate in the Open Tournament as a player if you are a judge

For those who aren't familiar with running games on Tabletop Simulator, I have made a handy-dandy guide for getting started. Feel free to subscribe to the Tabletop Simulator workshop files found in the document and play around with it between now and the convention!

Note that at the moment, only the stand-alone scenario A Night at Bloodthorne Manor is sanctioned to be played. At PaizoCon, we'll be launching a lot more scenarios!

Just started looking through the guide. Note that the Flip Table action can be disabled in /Settings/Permissions.

It's also possible to draw cards all at once. Just hover the pointer over a deck and press a number. You'll draw that many cards. Warning: There's a significant delay between pressing and drawing, so don't press more than once.

If I start a single player game and build my deck, will I be able to save and transfer it to a session at the Con? (Or other TTS sessions going forward) Or do you have to build it right before the game?

It's possible to build your deck ahead of time if you're hosting the game. After the deck is built, you right click and "save object". Then you can access your saved object (deck) in a later session.

I don't have enough experience to know if non-hosts can do this.

If you're using TTS in a non-convention campaign, the host could save everyone's deck at the end of each game - then bring them up at the start of the next game. Something to keep in mind if people are using TTS for an extended online campaign, I guess.

Cool, thanks. Well, I will practice building the deck from scratch a few times then, and have it built with the physical cards as well for a reference.

Good morning all! Our event coordinator for PaizoCon said that we currently don't have very many box runners signed up to run games... right now it looks like most of you have focused on securing your spot in the special but not signed up for a lot else (this is not the case for everyone, mind). If you plan to have the time, I'd highly recommend you sign up to run a few slots. Anything that doesn't have a "GM" signed up for it by Wednesday the 13th at midnight will be removed from the schedule. So please get your signups done by Tuesday evening!!

We fully expect the box runner to also play at the table (though you don't have to) so it'll be fun for you as well! There are also incentives that you'll get for running these slots in the form of Paizo store credit.

If you'd like to sign up , please go to the PaizoCon Online Warhorn site and register as a GM. Once you get confirmation that you're registered, you can sign up to run some games.

If you are planning to use Tabletop Simulator to run your games, you may want to watch a tutorial video that I recorded the other day. I added some timestamps in the description for specific features, so that you can skip through as needed.

You can instead use the Orgplayonline system that we've been using for play-by-post to run your game. I plan to record a video tutorial for this as well, as time allows this week.

Excellent video! It has taken me from "I don't know if I can figure this out enough to play" to "yeah, I think I'll boxrun a few slots"

Also, big Thank You to You and Paizo for putting in all the work for this. The way you set it up to auto build locations is excellent, and to be honest is basically what made me decide to GM it instead of just playing. I honestly was like there is no way I can build all the locations in a timely fashion and the character decks, etc, but you have it taken care of!

I'm going to see if I can get some of my fellow weekly Society players to be guinea pigs for some testing and familiarity. I've run the card game at cons IRL, so I know how to run it and teach people new to it, but want to be smooth (and knowledgeable) about running in on TTS for PaizoConOnline2020!

Anyway, off to warhorn with me. I got registered as a GM as a 'just in case', and looks like Case is here! Or ..uh however that phrase would work out...

Question about Characters:
I saw mentioned that only New Core characters built with Pacs are available. That fact slipped my mind when I signed up to GM. I picked a session that my character missed in our real-life game. (PC is Nyctessa, built with Class Deck, Occult and Arcane, I believe). Looking at the mod itself, I see the HV characters and some of the cards for them, but yes doesn't look complete enough to build my actual deck.

So my question is: I can still get credit for my necro by running a pregen, correct? I don't really want to start yet another PC that is going to have 1 session on their record and still have to play the scenario again with the necro.

(Bonus add-on question: Same goes for the multi-table special, I was going to run another character that played in the previous ACG special, but being a CD PC, I assume same situation is going to apply?)

Class decks should be coming onto TTS in the near future (if they aren't already). In the event it doesn't work well or something, you can always use class decks with the acg.orgplayonline.com live system instead.

Oh excellent! That is great news!

Class decks are, as of today, ALL in there! So you should be able to build your character as it truly exists! :)

Player signups are up! Here's a link that will take you specifically to all the PACG games!

Make sure to sign up for one of the TWENTY tables of the Multi-table special, Tyrant of the Harrow!

Do you mean the cards or just the characters? If the cards are there, how do you get to them? I can find the characters and the Adventure Packs easily enough, but not the Class Deck cards and neither of the instructional links talk about them. :/

In the upper left hand corner, there's an "infinite" blue bag marked New Class Deck Characters.

You can pull a separate (brown) bag from this infinite bag, which contains 25 class decks. If you right click on the brown bag and "search", you can pull out an individual class deck.

Edit: Actually, nevermind. I'm not sure that the bags contain what they're supposed to contain. Could be an error?

Sounds like it is work in progress and that the Characters and owner cards are up first and the other cards later.
I would imagine it is a HUGE effort, so we should cut people slack if some decks are not playable

I'm just thrilled that the Magus class deck characters + Magus Arcana are in there now. I'm happy to build Talitha from Adventures' Packs, and be able to take her into the Special. Really, access to the variety of Harrow blessings is such a huge boon for her. She'll miss Gallivance, but blessings like the Paladin, the Trumpet, and the Courtesan more than make up for it.

The PACS TTS mod has been updated to change how the class decks are loaded. There is now an external website where you can build your decks, and then easily import them into TTS. This will be a huge advantage, especially if you take your character from one table to another, since you'll be able to set up your character almost instantly every time you join a TTS game. The website is here: PACG deck builder and you can see a tutorial video on how to use it here: Youtube tutorial.

Character sheets are still in that "New Class Deck Characters" bag.

That's a really nice (albeit somewhat spartan) tool!

I was particularly impressed by the card substitution mechanism.

Unfortunately when I tried to build my current (Outpost III) character I wasn't able to do so.

The first thing I found was that Quinn wasn't a character option (and nor is any character from "Curse of the Crimson Throne").

Skipping over that for the moment, I soon ran into another problem when I tried to add my "Investigator's Lamp" - an Iconic Heroes promo card - to my deck.

There's a lot of work going into the TTS experience. I'm so pleased by how well it's running and I have no doubt that these minor bumps will be erased well before next Tuesday.

Wait, next Tuesday. This convention is _8 days away_!?!

If I can direct you to that schedule at warhorn (I like this view better than the default), I want to point out that I'm "running" 11 tables of PACG this convention, as well as participating _somehow_ with that massive 20-table Special on Saturday. Basically everything that's been released since Covid19.

The slots are spread over all sorts of time slots, clustering a little bit in the middle of the day. I'd love to see and chat with folks, because I won't get to do my usual wandering around chatting with folks this year. So instead I'll try it out on Tabletop Simulator. I apologize in advance for the occasional interruption by kids. ;)

If you're interested in any of those tables, feel free to sign up:

PACS 6-4 What Stalks the Shadows
Tue May 26 Noon-2pm Pacific, A: Intrigue in Ardis
Tue May 26 6-8pm Pacific, B: Rock and Steel
Wed May 27, 9-11am Pacific, C: Who Needs Sleep?
Wed May 27, Noon-2pm Pacific, D: The Tigers' Den

PACS 6-5 Echoes of Death
Thu May 28, 3-5am Pacific, A: Searching for Clues
Thu May 28, Noon-2pm Pacific, B: Race for the Cemetery
Fri May 29, Noon-2pm Pacific, C: Revisiting the Countess
Fri May 29, 3-5pm Pacific, D: An Unwelcome Reunion

PACS 6-90 A Night at Bloodthorne Manor
Sat May 30, 6-8am, B: Death by Dinnerware
Sun May 31, 6-8am, C: Society of the Veil
Sun May 31, 9-11am, D: Unfinished Business

(If you want to play A, Tyler's running it a ton of times!)

Yeah, you can't choose every character yet. Create you deck(s), then either leave character blank or choose another as a placeholder. When your character generates, core and curse "bags" are on the table so you can grab your pawn and character card/sheet from there.

Hopefully Curse will be there soon though. Just like Core.

John Francis wrote:

For now, the iconic heroes and season adventure path rewards (ex: Blessing of the Sages, Runewell's Echo, etc) will be "on the table" when the table is created, so you'll be able to add it there. Just leave it out of your deck when you set it up on deckbuilder and remember to grab it from the table. (And if 2 people need the same card, it a duplicate can be created on the table by the host).

So, basically, anything you can include on the deck builder site that is legal for Organize Play, you should find on the table in Table Top Simulator. If there is something you think should be legal and you can't find it, please do let us know.

That should have been CAN'T.

Wow! Really appreciate the efforts you guys are putting in to make this online experience as workable as possible!

Many thanks

Just wanted to point out that there are still a bunch of seats available in the Multi-Table special scenario.

As a bit of a tease, when we added the custom cards for this to our database, we had to create a whole new card trait. :-D

Here are a few session listings with open seats:
