Hello everyone!
You've asked for it for a long time, and I'm happy to announce that the mobile view and minimized sidebar (thanks in large part to Acolyte Alex!) have made their way over to the 1st Edition site! The search engine is still on the old framework, but we hope to update that to 2nd Edition soon as well. In the meanwhile, we've at least added the search box into the main menu like 2E so you can access it quicker.
With this update also comes a large number of bug fixes to the data. Enjoy!

The update appears to have broken the 1e site for Chrome.
On my mobile (android, Chrome browser) I can see the changed sidebar menu, but half of it is unreadable because the 'scroll' does not go all the way down. The new search bar appears twice, but does not work at all.
On my laptop (Chrome for mac) I cannot see any search bar - there is no search functionality available.
The changes look to be present and working in Safari for mac.
I am running the latest versions of Chrome and Safari.

I know you'll address this "soon," but I'm not a fan of the search box with the 1E engine. Basically, it means that I'll be bookmarking the Search page to bypass the Search bar so that I can uncheck the categories I don't want to search in so that my searches don't take 13 seconds.
For any issues with site layout, clear your browser's cache first - this has so far cleared up all issues presented my way.
Cleared cache and still having the same problem but only on chrome, when I open it in firefox it's fine.
