Calmont is captured, what happens now?

Age of Ashes

The PCs managed to convince Calmont that they would help him find Alseta's Ring, and then subdued him after he let go of Helba. They're bringing him to justice in Breechhill and should be pretty interested in his fate.

Question is: what happens to him now? Breechhill doesn't seem well-equipped to hold a prisoner for extended lengths of time, and they seem fairly lenient (but then again, this dude burned a traditional building down with children and elderly folk still inside). What are the possible outcomes for this situation?

The Calmont in my campaign lost most of his family and family home to goblins during the Goblinblood Wars, and is a violent bully that absolutely hates goblins. He set fire to the Town Hall wearing a goblin mask and let himself be seen running to the Citadel hoping people would blame the Bumblebrashers (and refuse Warbal's cry for help). He didn't manage to get any information about the goblins because his blind hatred for them didn't allow him to calm down and just listen.

Actually in the book Breachill has ~50 guards and a barrack. The city itself has ~1500 citizens so it is perfectly fine to assume that under the barrack they have some sort of prison for at least 5/10 criminals.

Keep also in mind that Breachill has money (they pay adventurers on a monthly base) and the city try to be independent in everything so a prison (even for long term punishment) is totally fine in my opinion.

This makes a lot of sense. I've been portraying the town as a kind of pleasantville, but I guess they could use the prison as a drunk tank. What I meant by that is that I don't see them sentencing a guy to like 50 years of imprisonment and just throwing him in a dungeon cell.

Horizon Hunters

Maybe they take him to a larger settlement nearby for imprisonment after he has been sentenced?

In plaguestone there is a traveling judge of some sort that the party is waiting on. I just had it come by Breachill with a thug that was arrested in plaguestone in one of its cages. The party liked seeing npc's from their previous adventure showing up, even if they are playing with new characters who wouldn't know how annoying that thug was.

Liberty's Edge

Yeah, Breechhill is in Isger, a LN nation. I'm positive it has judges and prisons beyond the local level that the people of Breechhill can call on at need for this sort of thing. They might not generally invite such scrutiny given their dislike of many of the laws of their parent nation, but they can definitely turn over an arsonist and attempted murderer to outside authorities.
