Just in case you didn't completely get it, formatting involves "tags". There are open tags and close tags. Everything between an open and a close gets the formatting. Close tags are identical to open tags but start with a slash.
So if you put [ i ] WORD [ /i ], WORD will turn out in italics.
I've inserted an extra space in there so you can see what I mean, instead of these turning into actual tags.
You can mix & match tags. So you could make something bold and italic by putting an open bold and open italic tag, then your text, then a close italic and close bold tag. The order doesn't matter, really, if you're using multiple tags, and you don't have to open and close at the same time. For instance bold and italic works, where I put the italic tags only around the "and italic".
