As a few of you are aware, we are in need of a name for Outpost III: (Yet to be named)

So let's hold a fun contest of sorts and let the community decide, cause what could go wrong.

Proof for those who forgot about Boaty McBoatface

Examples of past Outposts:

  • Outpost I (Back to the Future) Focused on Scarab Sages / very early older seasons and right into the release of Starfinder
  • Outpost II (It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine) With PFS1E we focused on Season 10 scenarios as well as the first Starfinder Special.

    ===========================================================================

With all of that said let's have the community decide:

  • Post a Name for Outpost III in this thread.
  • Theme that matches in with the name. (For example whether it be a group of scenarios that matches, or a specific VC, pirate themed, ect. You get the idea.)

How do I Vote for my favorite?

Go down through the list and click the + symbol to the right of the post to favorite it.

    When is the deadline?

The post with the highest favorites by January 17th will be the winner.

    What do I win?

Beside Fame, Glory, and Eternal Recognition? There will be a wonderful filk written by non other than HMM as well as additional prize on the side that will be sent to the winner.

"There and Back Again (Again)!" Adventure in places and/or with people you interact with at least twice! This of course covers revisits to fan faves like the Blakros Museum, or sailing aboard the Grinning Pixie, but visits to other less used ports of call are welcome.

If you are running this Con in two time blocks, adventures in the first should be set earlier than revisits in the second block.

Modules set to run over both blocks should involve some backtracking or perhaps a base of operations, or reoccurring NPC that is revisited between major encounter sites.

In the case of scenarios that have an important third act, I would encourage enterprising GMs with time on their hands to continue the story post-Con with their favorite PCs.

    Otherwise:
"Dungeon McDungeonface!" seems like a winner! It would feature adventures all set in dungeons, a bit like the Shattered Star AP.

It got serious in Australia and became an election issue:

    Ferry McFerryface

So is that a vote for Dungeon McDungeonface?

    Sovereign Court

If we go with an elemental theme then A Song of Ice and Fire would work.

Title: I Feel Like I've Been Here Before!?
Theme: All Blakros Scenarios (especially the museum) and missions that take place in/around Absalom

    Alternative Title: Dammit Nigel!

I already have a semi-list thread for Absalom Scenarios! Although its mostly taken from the wiki and is not an exhaustive list.

    Commitment Issues

Theme: All scenarios are Parts 1s of multi-part PFS arcs or module series.

Goal: Give GMs and players alike the opportunity to establish familiarity with a group and try for longer-term play. To lessen the pressure of the initial GM commitment, strongly suggest groups proceed with a GM rotation after the con.

Examples: Emerald Spire, The Devil We Know, Eyes of the Ten, The Blakros Matrimony, Destiny of Sands, Scions of the Sky Key.

Outpost III: Ticket for elemental plane

Almost everything Season 8, plus others that have an elemental theme to the plot. Citadel of Flame, Shades of Ice series, Frostfur Captive — anything that links to Fire, Water (Cold), Earth (Acid), or Air (Electricity).

This one also lends itself to filking.

Now posted in the correct thread...

As much as I love the name, I always find dungeon crawls get bogged down on PbP. Usually due to the 'check for traps, get back in order, listen at the door, play a game of checkers, drink a beer, wait for joe's infernal healing to finish up, then open the door' routine. For "There and back again (again)" I'd like to see a back to back run of both King Xeros scenarios.

But I digress... Outpost III: Ain't no party like an adventurin' party!

All scenarios include some serious partying! Blakros Matrimony, Hellknight's feast, The Paths we Choose, The First Mandate, The Solar Sortie, etc.

Here's some names based on movies that I've seen or wanted to see over the past year. This is not a serious entry as I didn't include any themes but I wanted to throw this in for giggles.

For what I lack in cleverness and well thought-out themes, I hope to make up with quantity of facepalms and groans...

  • Avengers: PbPgame
  • Wayfinder: Far From Home
  • 2E: The Rise of Pathfinder
  • Fun & Ferocious Presents: Paths and Stars
  • Outpost: Chapter 3 - Parabellum
  • Jumanjaizo: The Next Edition
  • Once Upon a Time... In Paizowood
  • Outpostland: Double Tap

    Please don't ban me...

We did that and it was awesome, you spot the Easter Eggs much better :p

Title: Can't hold a torch to Outpost 3
Theme: Grandmaster torch scenarios; I've played various scenarios involving him, including both passing the torches, but I don't know a lot of his backstory from a wide variety of scenarios

    Outpost III: Doom
Theme: Similar to the games, movies, books. The game says you are in hell, the movie shows them on another planet, the books says you are on another planet, run scenarios with demons, devils, alien invaders (Jadura), foreign planes, foreign planets, and secret passages.

    Lantern Lodge

Title: Lost to a good tapestry.
Theme: Oh come on, you know this. Anything Hao Jin related.
There are scenarios from a vast number of seasons that are touched on by Hao Jin and her tapestry. There is investigation, dungeon crawl, and all the possible environments you can think of.
Heck, there are scenarios that are missing whole chunks of maps because areas got hauled into that tapestry - they count too.

My vote's for this, since it's what I've already been doing.

Here's a link to a discussion I've been using to find scenarios.

Other name option: Hmm, Passing the Torch

Represents the change of leadership in the lodge, just like in the similarly named scenario!

Outpost III: Putting on the Ritz!

Theme: Dinner party or other event where characters are supposed to wear nice clothes (such as Courtier’s Outfit with trim) or are in a location that at one time would have been swanky such as an Opera House. True Dragons of Absalom, Blakros Martrimony, Among the Living, Golden Serpent, Hellknight’s Feast and a number of other scenarios.

SFS has Save the Renkrodas, First Mandate, Solar Sortie, To Conquer the Dragon and others.

If you think it is a little too narrow, allow museums as well.

    The Tri-Corned Adventures

    Pirate themed for the win!

    Outpost III: Dead Again

Adventures that feature undead. (Although, ones that are likely to kill you would work too.)

I am definitely looking for a theme that will reach across all campaigns.

    Outpost 3: Society Librarian Association

    Scarab Sages

    DAMMIT, LEEROY!!!

Theme: All scenarios either feature an annoying/volatile/clownish NPC, or are especially fun to play with volatile/buffoonish/comic relief PCs.

    Scarab Sages

    Now Entering THE TWILIGHT ZONE!

I wouldn't mind seeing these because I've come across two scenarios with high-tech stuff and they are really cool, but I wish I had a more appropriate character pick up the chronicle

    Scarab Sages

I've seen someone around here who must have been hoarding such Chronicles and stacking them on a single character, because my aspiring Arcane Archer character (amusingly enough) once adventured with a "space marine" whose entire schtick was based on high-tech weapons.

    Environmentally unfriendly

Theme: The PCs must enter a location where the environmental conditions could potentially cause damage to the party (underwater, too hot, too cold, harmful radiation, no air, random lightning strikes, sand storms, etc).

(We can disregard starship travel through 'space' in Starfinder for this purpose, otherwise almost every SFS scenario would qualify.)

My reward for gming iron gods... Also he refused to leave at the end of King Xeros because it was destiny. Aram Zey was pissed.

Now to figure out how to make a naga-tank.

    "That's the one, Officer!!!"

Trouble being D&D/Pathfinder's Naga haven't got ANY arms, let alone the rather important Hindu-god-league set of arm.... 8>D

Outpost III: Out of the Frying Pan, Into the Fire

Featuring scenarios where the PCs find themselves in situations which just seem to keep getting worse; scenarios that feature enemies ambushing PCs at climatic moments, and scenarios that literally involve fire.

    Grand Archive

2 people marked this as a favorite.

    Outpost 3: Naming contest
Theme: Any scenario with contests of some sort. I remember a starfinder scenario with a racing battle contest. There is a a Pathfinder adventure where you run a race through a jungle. Etc.

    Scarab Sages

"I got 99 Problems, and a Lich is One!"

Bring out your dead! Or, well, your nearly-dead. Undead big bads feature at the end (or caramel center) of every scenario!

Plus, it makes the filking easier. ;)

    Outpost III: It’s a trap!

Had thought about calling it Ackbar’s Refrain, but decided the more obvious name was better.

Adventures with traps or ambushes, they are allowed to have both. I am pretty sure there are enough of those in SFS. I am not sure how many of them are in PF2.

What is filking? At first I thought it was misspelled but now I've seen it thrice.

Here it means to change the lyrics of a song to fit the winning theme. You can see some examples of HMM’s filk for SFS here.

It might be easier to say that it is what "Weird" Al does--a lot.

That, and we are terrible spellers.

8 people marked this as a favorite.

Weird Al was and is my personal hero. When I was a kid, I had a picture of him in my highschool locker when other kids had the standard heartthrobs. But yes, filks are song parodies that celebrate the original music while adding new and geekier lyrics.

When my brain needs to go off leash and recalibrate, filking is my favorite way to do it. Besides, I consider this contest prize the equivalent of one of Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me's silly non-cash prizes (originally, Carl Kassell's voice on your answering machine.)

    Hmm
