The Inquisition forces have faced down the might of Chaos twice no, defending the besieged Hive of Secundas Inisdias from a brutal strike by forces dedicated to the God of Plagues, even defeating a corrupted Astrates. Their next task led them to the hospital ship the Sigilite's Grace which had suffered an attack by cultists. A strange plot that saw the ship's Gellar Field turned against it, forcing it to drag part of the realm of Chaos into the material world. The Acolytes were able to purge the corrupted crew and machinery from the ship.
But the victories have come at a cost. Only two of the Acolytes remain in the service of Inquisitor Darvidia Eliza. For the next task more will be needed. Evidence of a cult has been found on the Hive-World of Piety. If the Inquisition's hand is seen, the plot will vanish into the night parades and mutant population. A subtle touch is called for before the Inquisition can strike...

OK, so we're down to but two characters in this little game, and the Inquisition needs more [s]warm bodies[/i] righteous servants for the cause. The original recruitment and the game itself can be found Here. The current complement is Lothar, a Noble Guardsmen, and Vasyl, Scum. A third player has recently dropped out and may return, but we'll assume not for now.
This is a first edition game of Dark Heresy, to be clear.
Each player has a total 1800xp, plus the 400xp a starting character gets that isn't added to your rank.
You will have an additional six months of funds for your equipment. Feel free to sell of anything you don't need.
All the standard classes, plus the Sister of Battle in the Inquisitor's Handbook, can be played. Alternative ranks can be taken with permission, as some of them are a little whacky.
Backgrounds are also acceptable, although a max XP of 400 can be spent on them.
For a bit more flexibility, you can arrange your stats to your needs.
Thank you and have fun.

Do you mind if I take Untouchable as my background to be a Culexus assassin?

I'll look for my rulebook, but does this look like the right sort of character?
I can't tell if these stats are good :) might want to try to roll another.
An Adept would be good. I would to see some more detail in terms of your character's personality and history with the Inquisition, though.
Ah, remove myself from the board for a while and one of my favorites is waiting for me when I return!
Going to be a busy next couple of days. Jon, how long would I have to get a character together?
I think next Monday the 1at at 23.59 GMT should be good. It'll give us a week to do stuff.
Do you mind if I take Untouchable as my background to be a Culexus assassin?
An Untouchable Assassin would certainly something the Inquisition would like to see. We'll have to fuzz stuff about the Culexus, though - they're a pretty specific bunch of monsters and we're still a bit too low for one to be wandering around.

Here's my character and backstory.
Just need to buy his gear.
Lazerus remembers the exact moment when his powers awoke.
He was 15 and the gellar fields failed.
Things came in, making people claw at themselves and each other.
He remembered instinctively reaching into himself and warding one away from his mind, at least until it found easier prey.
2 days later the mashalls found him, 3 months later the black ships did and 15 years later the inquisitor found him, scratching words into his cell. Words he shouldn't have known.
Lazerus said he was sorry.
The Inquistitor said he would serve.
In the last 3 years he's learned things both how to fight and other forbidden things waiting to be called on again.
Today the inquistor knocked on his cell door and gave him not a book but an order.

Ok, something to work with.
Think I'll go with Dusk world origin and with your approval Jon, the Moritat background.
Another question.
How do you want to handle the monthly income increase when going up a rank?

How do you want to handle the monthly income increase when going up a rank?
So far, pretty much as written - roll the cash for each month. I'm aware this can be a hiccupy for some classes or backgrounds (Nobles) though. I am intending to start more impressive Cash Prizes and gear to be available as things go along.

I cannot find where the roll is for insanity or corruption, nor for ages for Schola Progenium characters.

A blank is a useful, rare thing. A soul that casts no light in the warp. A man immune to the corruption of chaos. A tool to root out and end cultists and heresy. Trained from a young age at the monastic heart of a world purged of Chaos by holy exterminatus, He learned his craft and learned it well. How to shoot, how to kill, how to blend in so he can get close and how to take a mark from distance unseen. He became as the round in one of his many beloved tools.
A round is chambered, a breath let out, a kill is made.
Eventually he was aimed at a universe of targets. A minor cult uprising on Balmus VII needing the head taken from the shoulders so the body can rot. Aldar III where a daemon born plague ravaged the hives, many a poor hiver never saw the danger before their life was snuffed out before the contamination could spread. Teancal IX... how many family members had to be left hanging in plain sight before the nobility capitulated? Does it matter?
A round is chambered, a breath let out, a kill is made.
And now, an inquisitor has need of a tool to get the job done... well we have a tool, and He will suffice.

Hello all, current player here.
The matter of skills coming from two sources in character creation did crop up with Vasyl. The result then was allowing me to take a trained rank in a different skill.
| JonGarrett |
Well, that was an awkward time for the site to go down. I'm going to tentatively close recruitment, but if anyone wasn't able to submit a character due to the downtime please do feel free to get in touch.
Everyone else, I'll start rummaging through the applications now and decide the roster by tomorrow afternoon.

Sounds good. I need to add two more skills, and settle equipment and upload her background.
Sorry for the delay, the maintenance period and my schedule yesterday made it impossible to get done.
I added the Survival and Concealment skills.

.. pincer trap .. saved hundreds .. heroes .. an honor .. for the best, really .. Progenium ..
She did not cry when they told her that both of her parents had been killed.
She did not cry when they told her that she would be sent away from the only life she had ever known.
She did not cry when they shipped her off with seven others whose parents had also died.
She did not cry when they could see her.
Her mother's words, "never let them see you hurt," served her well.
A model student. A shining example. Prefect. The praise of her instructors meant nothing to her. Only one thing mattered: her mother had been a firm believer in the Emperor, and Callidia did not want to dishonor the memory of her mother. What was done out of duty and honor slowly came to be done for its own sake. Habit became truth. By the time she was in her teens, Callidia was perfect for the Sisterhood.
Another move, but this one eagerly anticipated. Callidia could not believe she had made it into the ranks of the Adepta Sororitas. Her faith was strong, her belief absolute. She found happiness in serving with her Sisters, in serving the Emperor of Man. At seventeen she was reprimanded - again - for fidgeting during the many ceremonies; Callidia preferred to venerate the Emperor on the sparring ground. At eighteen she was sent to the militant order, and at nineteen, she cut down her first heretic.
There were many after that. Before each battle, Callidia prayed to the Emperor to guide her hand in his righteous service. After each kill, she begged the Emperor to take pity on the misguided souls.
Now another change comes. She is to be sent away from her sisters and the comfort of a clearly identified enemy. An Inquisitor has need of the talents of a Sister of Battle, and she will answer the call with no hesitation for in this too, shall she serve her Emperor...

OK, boys and girls. The four of you who completed your applications can join in. That would be Jene Rodriguez, Callidia Doranis, Lazerus Mast and Afan Driscol.
Please swing by the Discussion thread while we get squirrelled away, and thank you for applying.
