Feats or traits that would let a Hunter learn a 2nd level Wiz / Sorc spell

Specifically Rope Trick. Any help would be appreciated.

I know of none, but they can get hide campsite or sylvan hideaway from their own spell list. Sylvan hideaway in particular is a lot like rope trick.

I'm not aware of a trait that would let you do this. There are two rogue feats in a chain but that is a very high price.

You would need to change race to samsaran and use mythic past life alternate racial trait. It is based on your primary spellcasting ability score so a full spellcasting class is probably the best base class to take this race option.

Otherwise a level dip into a class that has the desired spell on its spell list.

Lastly is to use UMD skill and a magic item.

Eldritch Heritage is a possibility:

1.) Skill Focus (Any Knowledge)
2.) Eldritch Heritage (Arcane Bloodline)
3.) Improved Eldritch Heritage - New Arcana

I don't know of a way to circumvent the high charisma requirement for the feats though.

Sovereign Court

Dreamed Secrets works, though it has its own drawbacks and requires level 7.
Spellcasting Contract, Lesser if you can pay off a Mystic Theurge that serves Asmodeus.
Tree Fort may get you close, though its an expensive item (10,000 gp) that doesn't quite do Rope Trick.
Traveling Master's Turban on the other hand does get you Rope Trick 1/day and Endure Elements for 4000 gp.

No, this doesn't work anymore. IEH (Arcane) adds to your spells known but not to your spell list, and you need the latter now. There's a FAQ or errata about it somewhere.

Don't work as it don't add the spell to the spell list, only to the list of spells known, see this FAQ:

FAQ wrote:

New Spells Known: If I gain the ability to add a spell that is not on my spell list to my list of spells known, without adding it to my spell list, can I cast it?

No. Adding a spell to your list of spells known does not add it to the spell list of that class unless they are added by a class feature of that same class. For example, sorcerers add their bloodline spells to their sorcerer spell list and oracles add their mystery spells to their oracle spell list. The spell slots of a class can only be used to cast spells that appear on the spell list of that class.

Yeah the only feat I can think of is "skill focus UMD"

Note that Dreamed Secrets doesn't work anymore per the FAQ.

Sovereign Court

Strange that, its almost like the only point of the Feat was to add things to your list. But since it doesn't use the words "adds to your spell list", its worthless.

Liberty's Edge

1 person marked this as a favorite.

For divine caster that memorizes spells it works because of this

Quote:
If you prepare spells, you can prepare these spells any time you do so in the next 24 hours.

Special exception in the text of the spell.

For spontaneous spellcasters, it works only if your spell list has some wizard spells and you haven't learned them.
As a GM I would allow it to work without the limitation.

The reason I asked about Rope Trick was specifically because of Hunter's Tree Fort. Thought it'd be fun to have something like that in my bag, along with a sack of Tree Feather Tokens for essentially a portable room (as long as you brought along a covering for a roof).

You could usa a Fugitive's Grenade as a one-shot rope trick for 750 gp.

Dip Pathfinder Chronicler? Pretty wasteful though.
