Hey folks! My group and I are going to be playing Kingmaker in 2e for our Podcast, Dice Will Roll- expect updates on that sooner or later- but to do so, I took upon myself to start converting the entire Adventure Path to Second Edition, and I was caught by surprise- the devs really weren't kidding when they said converting 1e stuff to 2e would be hard!
Conversion is mind-numbingly simple. The most work I had to do was copy pasting things into the right format- not a chore at all! I'll be working on the next chapter and adding them to this doc soon- additionally, if you care less about Kingmaker and more about bad guys to throw at your players, I've a seperate doc with story agnostic monster blocks from the AP, covering everything from Grigs to Slurks! Any and all feedback is welcome. Read on, my friends!

I'm running a Kingmaker campaign right now, but I must admit I'm not sure I want to convert midway through. The changes would impact my players too much, especially those among them who aren't particularly interested in rule systems: They will most likely want to stick with what they know, and I'm not blaming them. I'll decide if I want to pitch PF2 to them after I see the final rules.

When PF2 launches, Paizo should release a PDF like this converting old adventure paths.
Perhaps a "conversion tips" guide.
A hint for Derry: finances work on a different scale. You will need to adapt that as your characters will become much richer than expected early on (and struggle to catch up in equipment at higher levels, but this won't be happening soon).

I've been converting my dragon's demand game to the playtest. It's been running really smooth. The way I handle monster creation is that I find a similar creature of the same level as their CR in 1e. Take their base statistics and then add on my own unique actions/reactions/free actions. It's been working well so far.

Noted, and much appreciated! Any idea of the scale I should be tweaking at? Maybe halving income initially, and doubling as they start reaching higher levels, tripling, etc?

Use Silver = gold x level / 20, using the level they’re meant to find it at according to the adventure.
Yep, it’s a massive shift. The formula works well up to lv17, after which you need to scale it up...
That's a very handy formula- massive shift or not, I can easily use that! Thank you so much- I'll be sure to revise Book 1's currency to make that work!

You said the devs weren't kidding when they said it would be hard. But then you said it was simple. Did you mean they said it would not be hard?
D'oh! ADHD strikes again, that's exactly what I meant!

Hate to resurrect a dead thread, but are there any further developments here? I'm looking to start running Kingmaker in 2e myself, and while I have kickstarted the anniversary edition, that won't be coming around til sometime next year and I was hoping to get started a bit earlier - if anyone's done a lot of the work already (now that the final book is out), especially to the kingdom building bits, I'd sure love to gratefully steal it!
