Wouldn't the last bit in that writeup simply mean it can apply class grafts seperate the hosts graft, as many of the listed abilities are available from classes?

The template graft you mean? That's a mechanic introduced with the Symbiends in Alien Archive. I see what you mean about it duplicating some things an NPC can obtain with a class graft, but I think in those cases you just go with whichever has the highest modifier. That means the Klyntar isn't always helping it's host as much, but I think that fits.
