Series Details

*has terrible visions of a show basically about Traviss' mandalorians*

Liberty's Edge

Rumor is the look of the main character is the way Bobba Fett was going to look in the canceled 1313 video game.

I'd watch it. Except I can't afford to pay for Disney's streaming service.

Variety.com: Lucasfilm confirms cast for The Mandalorian:

Pedro Pascal as The Mandalorian, along with Carl Weathers, Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog (!!!), and Nick Nolte.

Jon Favreau is executive producer and lead writer for the series. Confirmed directors for episodes include Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels), Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates) and Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows & Thor: Ragnarok).

Quote:
The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. It follows the travails of a lone gunfighter (Pascal) in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic. It will air on Disney+ in 2019.

Trailer partial, still under post production.

Looks good, hopefully they'll drop an official trailer in a week or so. The trailer for Clone Wars season 6 looks really good too.

It won't happen in season 1, but I really really want the Mandolorian to have an onscreen "rematch" against Hafþór Björnsson.

It's supposed to be $6.99 a month, plus the cost of your high-speed Internet service and whatever device(s) you're watching it on.

Some actual footage from The Mandalorian.

Liberty's Edge

More footage.

I'm getting Disney + just for this.

I dunno if I can convince my mom to go for it since she controls...well not necessarily the finances but it is her house... :P

Scarab Sages

Trailer looks really cool. This'll be the first Star Wars show I'm interested in seeing since Rogue One.

D+ keeps making itself the best value streaming service around. I might wait until December to subscribe, but doubt I'll ever cancel once I start.

Scarab Sages

Yeah, I pretty much knew I'd be getting it as soon as they came out with the initial pricing. Before then, I'll get rid of my cable and just keep an internet connection. Between the Disney streaming package, Amazon Prime, and possibly still Netflix, my family will have more than enough to watch.

Don't forget Hulu if you want other Marvel shows as well as more other stuff to watch.

Liberty's Edge

Isn't Hulu free with Disney+?

Scarab Sages

Indeed. That's why I said "Disney streaming package": Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ are going to be something like $13 a month. Although I really could care less for the ESPN part of that equation, but I haven't seen any kind of package that's just Disney+ and Hulu.

The only time I'll care about ESPN is if it carries any WVU football games... which doesn't seem likely this season.

But yeah might this is the year we truly cut cable and stick with streaming. Maybe.

Liberty's Edge

New Trailer.

Is it me, or is that comedian Bill Burr at 1:29?

Loved the shoulder mounted blaster that one guy had.

That’s indeed him. He loves making fun of Star Wars fans. Now he is triple wielding blasters.

Liberty's Edge

Just watched the first episode. Blew me away. They got it right with tone, and little details.

I really liked

Spoiler:
The mention of Life Day from the Holiday Special. I also loved that they finally showed a toilet in Star Wars.

The one bad thing is at the end of the episode, they did'nt show a trailer for the next episode.

Special Preview

After seeing Ep. 1 twice, I can report the level of detail the show-runners have placed on this project is phenomenal. The design aesthetic, from the aliens to props to the costume design to practical effects, are clearly a poignant homage to the original trilogy.

This show FEELS like Star Wars, a heartfelt sentiment that is both a warranted sincere compliment and thankful answer to lipped hopes and prayers.

God Save Favreau and Filoni!

I loved all of the small details they included, from the same tech in the doorbell that Jabba the Hut had, the Life Day reference, and making sure to feature visually similar bounty hunters from Empire (the droid and the Tandoshan in one scene).

The ending was fantastic, can't wait to see where they go with that.

Liberty's Edge

Episode 2 is up in USA. Very good, but only 30 minutes.

My Mandalorian Musings

About 30 posts so far.

Liberty's Edge

Episode 3 is best episode so far IMO.

"I gotta get me one of those."

I liked the 3 episodes any idea how much we are suppose to get of it?

8 episodes this season. They are filming season 2 now.

Sounds great. Can't wait to finally see it in March.

And hearing rumours About a Doctor Aphra Series, if they put that much Detail into that it would be outstanding if true.

I have a minor gripe about the Mandalorian and the others we saw in the episode where he gets his new armor forged. "Star Wars: Rebels" is now, at least from what I have read, considered canon. In that show, Sabine and other Mandalorians remove their helmets readily. Why is it different with the new series?

I also have a gripe regarding the trailer for "Skywalker Rising". I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it, but it's established in "Rebels" that the stormtroopers already have the capability to do that. Hmmm..

I partially agree. It could be a tradition that changed with time however.

Tradition changed after “The Purge”? Different groups have different traditions? There are plenty of reasons this could be the case. Even in Clone Wars we see different groups behaving different ways, from Death Watch to the pacifist home word to the groups that are more like what we see in Rebels.

For Rise of Skywalker, maybe these particular characters just haven’t encountered Stormtroopers doing it until now.

I believe it's down to the Mando's individual clan. Each clan has their own rules.

Not only is REBELS canon but many of the people who worked on it (including Dave Filon and Jon Favreau) are working on THE MANDALORIAN, so they would be aware of the issue.

Very cool. Thanks, everyone!

Finally got around to getting my Disney+ account (just that one, not the three-package). The wife and I have now watched all five available episodes of The Mandalorian.

I'm thoroughly impressed. The story is pretty cool so far. The series looks magnificent, with great effects and action scenes. I'm excited to see where they're going with this.

As for differences withe these Mandalorians and others - I'd agree it's just different practices by different clans. I think it's still cannon that the Mandalorian culture/religion is several thousand years old, at least, so differences would make sense.

The gaming group binged the first four episodes after our Eberron 5e session 0 this last weekend and I must say the little green guy is creepy as ####!

Scarab Sages

It was cool to see...

Spoiler:
...the black-armored storm troopers again. Mando putting together his own team was cool. When the tie-fighter folded its wings I was initially freaked out, but then it kind of made sense.

It sucked seeing....

Spoiler:
...the ugnaught getting gunned down by those storm troopers. Hopefully, he's still alive, but just hurt.

Also...cliff hangers suck.

Yeah, the folding wings caught me off guard, too.

Yeah. I liked X.

Spoiler:
It seemed like a deliberate choice to not show who exactly shot him, though. The door to the ship opened as he was arriving, and then they cut to his smoking body. It *could* have been the Troopers behind him. It *could* have been IG-11. Both could be red herrings, and it *could* be a third party, such as the owner of the legs we saw standing over (Ming-na Wen's characters) corpse an episode or two ago...

I love the series but I think I've passed the limit of the fake out shots

Waiting for them to cry wolf and do it for real.

I was blown away by the season 1 finale. So much cool s##&.

Spoiler:
Loved IG-11 in action, and was sorry to see him go. Still, every time he spoke, all I could hear was Korg.

Finally got to see Mando without his helmet, and hear his actual name spoken. Which, for the life of me, I cannot remember.

Magic Hand Thing!

I was happy to see Carl Weathers and Gina Carano survive. Hopefully, we'll see them both in season 2.

The Darksaber!!! HOLY S!+& BALLS!!!

With Mando given his new quest of either raising/training the child, or returning him to his family, maybe we'll finally get further insight and info into Yoda's species.

Can't wait for the next season!!!
