So there's some often great, occasionally bonkers gear in the backarticle of the latest AP installment. Let's discuss!
Aeon Stones
1. Bright Yellow Cabachon - boring, but useful to archeologists translating lost languages.
2. Cloudy Blue Rhomboid - the Ring of Featherfall returns!
3. Iridiscent Trillian - make a +6 enhancement bonus Reflex roll to try to beat a ranged attack. How often is your Reflex save bonus competitive with your AC bonus? A max dex good reflex save 20th level character would roll a +27 bonus against an attack that already hit his ~39+ AC with potentially room to spare. Not worth the money, the reaction, or the Resolve point most of the time, but maybe as last ditch insurance against big hits when you've got 32k to throw away on suboptimal choices.
4. Opalescent White Pyramid - gives you proficiency in one weapon, and you can change the weapon costlessly with some crafting time. This is AMAZING for 3/4 BAB guys who already spent feats on Longarms Proficiency and Versatile Proficiency who want to use a specific advanced melee weapon or heavy weapon without blowing more feats. Level 3, 1400 cr is a cheap price to always be able to use one changeable weapon of your choice.
5. Ruby Sphere - It's a tier 3 magical computer! It's linked to your mind! It doesn't need a power source! It can be upgraded fully like a normal computer! It's a floor cleaner and a desert topping! I assume tier upgrades also require miniaturization costs, since the stone isn't going to get bigger.
6. Vibrant Green Prism - This treats the Azlanti homeworld like Absalom Station for drift travel durations if your pilot/navigator has one. Great as a plot device: steal one to enable fast travel for a spy ship, or to reverse engineer and potentially allow an assault fleet to threat their homeworld with quick retribution, upending the balance of power between the Star Empire and the Pact Worlds. This also solves one of the problems with the Star Empire - the otherwise awful logistics of an empire in the Vast due to travel times between star systems.

Magitech Augmentations
1. Aeon Stone - replaces a single eye to give you a Sense Through ability you can toggle off and on. Not sure in practice how useful this is given the limits of seeing through metal.
2. Aeon Gage - It's the Infinity Gauntlet, Starfinder style! It's a polyhand that you can put six(!) aeon stones into, gaining their abilities without having them rotate above you. But wait, there's more! If you install six stones you add up their cumulative item level and gain access to some Technomancer damaging spells. Better stones get you better spells. And this thing is only two item levels higher than a polyhand. Amazing.
3. Nimble Soles - You're better at flying and tumbling. If you take this over Force Soles you're crazy.
4. Resonant Larynx - It's like a Dragon Gland, but a bigger cone, does sonic damage, can deafen, and targets Fort rather than Reflex save. Better (but higher level) overall unless you can afford the full Wyrm version of the Dragon Gland.

Finally, we have
Aeon Guard Weapons
1. Trilaser small arm - It's basically a laser pistol, with comparable range, usage, and damage. Sometimes a little better/worse, but hard to judge because of the mismatched item levels. You can slot an aeon stone into it to grant it a weak boost ability and forego the stone's normal abilities.
You shouldn't be using small arms anyway (unless you're an operative who won't be boosting anyway), but if you find one of these and have a surplus aeon stone it's...ok?
2. Plasma Flare heavy weapon - It's the Conquerer line of plasma heavy weapon (same range, very similar damage, unwieldy, wound crit) but with some better capacity options and the bright quality. It's a slight upgrade on a weapon that isn't particularly noteworthy in its Pacts World incarnation.

This is the best one, especially by value, but I am doubtful it will end up being SFS legal so I haven't concerned myself with it really.

What's the wording for that? Do you need to meet the prereqs for the proficiency or anything? For example could someone pick up proficiency for a heavy weapon even if they don't have longarm prof?

I almost posted about this one myself. It's crazy good!
You don't even need to take Weapon Proficiency. Just get Versatile Specialization by itself and a couple of these stones.
There doesn't appear to be a limit to how many you can have, and they're dirt cheap, so get one for every unusual weapon you carry.

Yes, you can.
While this aeon stone orbits you, you have proficiency with one kind of weapon (laser pistol, plasma doshko, zero pistol, and so on) at all item levels. Each stone of this type is keyed to a particular kind of weapon when it is created. Changing the type of weapon an existing opalescent white pyramid aeon stone is keyed to requires time and 3 ranks in Mysticism, as if you were crafting the aeon stone, but this alteration has no cost.
