I'm a little late to the party. I'm interested in being involved in the Solstice Scar in some way. Either GMing or Playing. I've added myself to the waitlist for players - can I add myself to the GM waitlist, or would you like to keep more control over the GM list?

Feel free to add yourself to the GM waitlist!

Meanwhile...

GM Hmm puts on her magic mask and looks out at all the potential PBP GMs...

Hey You! Yes, you!

With my Venture Lieutenant Super Powers, I can see you thinking... Gee, should I submit a game for PbP Gameday VI? Or should I wait?

If you are hesitating on the brink... Know that our first Scenario Support Deadline is July 10th. What is Scenario Support, you ask? Scenario Support is when Paizo's way of supporting conventions. You offer to run a scenario, and if you submit it by the Scenario Support deadline, Paizo provides it to you.

Our first support deadline is July 10th! Plan accordingly!

Happy Gming,

Oh man, I should get in so I don't have to...oh, wait. :)

I already signed up to GM the scenario I got for free when I GMed it at Gen Con last year.

Admittedly I usually buy my scenarios so I can prepare on time, and also so I can support Paizo.

1/5 5/5

Do you report full if six players have signed up and the WL hasn't been filled? Just curious.

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/55/55/5 ***** Venture-Captain, Minnesota

Do you report scenarios as full once they have six players? Yep. Because honestly, if you get a no-show a simple post on Flaxseed will fill it instantly. If you have six, by my lights you are full.

As for those of you already running something that you own, that's awesome. I wanted to get the word out to those for whom Scenario support might make a difference!

Howdy, Hmm! Do you have any sense when GM's will get our downloads? I'm thinking of buying the scenario, as I like to have lots of prep time to read, set up maps and tokens, etc., but might not choose to buy it if we're likely to get the scenarios pretty soon.

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/55/55/5 ***** Venture-Captain, Minnesota

I've been told that these things traditionally drop the week before a convention. I am hoping they'll get to it before GenCon, but I know that Paizo Staff are extremely busy this year with the launch of Starfinder!

Hmm

There is still a spot for a new player at my We B4 Goblins table if anyone sees a new player looking for a game. Would be playing Chuffy. There is also a spot for a new player at my We Be Goblins in second session of Gameday. That one would be either Chuffy or Reta.

I have volunteered my services to GM a table. Recruitment for PFS #6-06 Hall of the flesh eaters is open. I will run 1 table , but a maximum of 2 tables if there's enough interest.

I am thinking of running a gameday scenerio, mostly for the experience, but I've not gm'd pfs before. Is there a process to go through to become a pfs gm or extra guidelines to be aware of?

Sadly it is far too late for support packages (I would have loved to try out starfinder), but I do have the season six pfs scenerios.

Hello Alicorn, and welcome! We'd love to have you!

Process to become a PFS GM? GM Tyrannius wrote a few steps for new players, many of which also apply to GMs.

The basics:

1) Get your PFS number -- this will be the one you sign to all your chronicle sheets

2) Read the Roleplaying Guild Guide if you can. There will be a new one coming out around GenCon, but many of the rules stay constant from year to year.

3) Pick your scenario, register it for PBP Gameday VI! If you want, you can also announce it on Flaxseed.

4) Whatever you do, introduce yourself in the discussion thread in the Flaxseed Lodge. We're there for all questions whether from GMs or Players. It's a great place to ask if anything is unclear.

5) After you GM your game, you will need to report it through our event form and write up chronicle sheets for the players. We'd be happy to walk you through these things!

As for Starfinder... We do have a Session II support deadline. You can always register a Starfinder session for then!

Hmm

PS Check out this GM Kit. It has a Welcome to Pathfinder boon for any brand new players you might have, and other things too!

I just realized, to run a Starfinder scenerio, I'll still need to buy the core Starfinder rules won't I.

(lol, my phone kept trying to type Statfinder. Sounds like a useful program for any gm!)

In any case, are there any suggestions on which season 6 scenerios would be good picks to run?

4/5 5/5 ***

Wounded Wisp is the level 1-2 adventure from season 6. It's a good place to start if you are just jumping into the program.

Yep! Fortunately the CRB will only be $9.99 in PDF!

I agree that Wounded Wisp is an excellent Season Six choice!

Hmm

Sadly, unless someone donates, I'm not going to be able to buy Starfinder in the foreseeable future.

I will carry on with Wounded Wisp as a gm though, thank you both for the advice.

I noticed a couple other sites mentioned like mythweavers, but I'm curious, what about rpol.net? Is there criteria for whether a site can host gameday or pfs, or does there just need to be gms there willing to run them?

This is more out of curiosity than anything else.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

Generally there just needs to be GMs willing to run them and players willing to play them. Some sites might require fees or have special requirements, but generally speaking, no.

Also, if you need any advice or suggestions on how to run/prep scenarios, how to utilize maps, make Chronicle Sheets, etc, let me know.

Oh, that is a great question!

Beckett is half right here. You can run PFS games anywhere there are GMs and Players -- including your own house.

However for our specials and conventions, I am limiting them for my own sanity to the four current official PbP lodges: Flaxseed Lodge, Castamir Station, Myth-Weavers and RPGgeek.

Why are you doing that, Hilary? Aren't those other sites worthy too?

I am so glad you asked! Of course they are worthy. I know that PFS play-by-post also happens on Rpol.net, giantitp.com, and (in French) Pathfinder-FR.org. But I don't have Venture Agents there yet, and so have no way of finding replacement GMs if a Play-by-Post game stalls out over there. I have no one there to watch over the games, advertise Play-by-Post gameday, or do chronicle sheet repair if a GM messes up.

Well, why haven't you done that yet? Don't you want to make all those sites official?

Eventually, yes. But they have not asked me for help or reached out to me, and I am still integrating our newest lodge. Also, I am picky about Venture Agents. If we're going to have one in place, I want them to be a great face for our organization, encouraging games and helping out new GMs.

That said, if someone awesome from one of those locations reaches out to me and says, "I want to make us an official lodge, what can I do to help?" Well... Then we'll get the ball rolling over there.

Does all this make sense?

Hmm

Shadow Lodge 4/5

I was assuming that TheAlicornSage was asking a general question and not specifically about GD6.

I was asking both in general and about gamedays (though not specifically the upcoming one).

I think Hmm answered wonderfully. Concise yet with additional detail that is closely related.

Liberty's Edge 5/5 Regional Venture-Coordinator, Online

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Howdy!

For Online Play there's ...

* A single Venture Captain [VC], which is the position I fill. I report directly to the Org-Play Coordinator [OPC], Tonya, and handle the "Big Picture" of Online play and support the Venture Lieutenants [VLs] and Venture Agents [VAs], as well as the online play community at large. (VCs, VLs, and VAs are collectively called Venture Officers [VOs])

* There are two VLs, one for PbP and one for VTT. VLs work directly with the VAs to organize regional events and conventions for the online community, as well as supporting the VA/Community needs in their given region on a daily basis. (VLs report to the VC.)

* And there are currently three VAs for PbP- those VA positions are tied to a specific community (IRL VAs are tied to a specific location, like a store - PbP VAs are tied to a specific PbP community - in our case Paizo, MythWeavers, and RPGGeek). VAs are the front line "boots on the ground" for a specific community and will handle the day-to-day operation and organizational needs of that specific community.

VA positions are filled on an as-needed basis. If there is an active, growing Pathfinder Society [PFS] (and soon Starfinder Society [SFS]) PbP community, that is not already represented by a PbP VA, we can always discuss a VA position for that community. (The community needs to be an established PFS[/SFS] PbP community with regular, ongoing play, with a unique community membership.) Talk with GM Hmm and I if you are a member of such a community and we can discuss further to see if a VA role is warranted in that community.
