Dead Suns!

Dead Suns

Yay, first to post! This adventure path looks interesting. Although I don't think you are going to find Golarion in the adventure path, but find some interesting clues.

Also, it looks like there is a frontier society on Absalom Station and not a Cyberpunk one. People are willing to go explore beyond the station and perhaps beyond into the Galaxy.

I feel like the question "where did Golarion go?" won't be answered any time soon. That said, I'm super excited about Dead Suns, mostly because I want to see how Paizo does sci-fi!

Absalom Station sounds fascinating to me, even with the glimpse we've seen through Navasi's background. We already know there's massive income inequality, so there's room for backgrounds of any socio-economic background to come from this one space station.

Although...I'm already dreading the first adventure. EVIL SPACE TENTACLE CATS. KILL THEM WITH FIRE.

I think where did golarion go probably shouldn't be answered. The main reason to do that in the first place is so people playing the campaigns do not feel like the future is already written. This way nobody has any idea what really happens going forward.

I haven't been paying much attention to Starfinder on the simple basis that it's not the game I play (Pathfinder), but from what I've gathered, "where's Waldo^H^H^H^H^HGolarion?" is the big unanswerable question, much like "what happened to Aroden?" As in, I'm pretty sure it's been said it's not* going to be answered.

*Unless Paizo changes their minds, which they always reserve the right to do, unless they choose to no longer reserve that right, which they reserve the right to choose. For now.

I'm just chomping at the bit to get into the universe of SF. I've never played a PF adventure path, but have heard nothing but great things. If the SF stuff comes close to that standard, then it'll be an awesome intro. Is it August yet?

We've got the better part of 3 months to go, dude. Mostly a hot summer.

Aroden borrowed the planet. He's taken it to be the center piece of a new solar system in a new galaxy. He left a note, but it fell into a black hole.

I hope questioning about Golarion never takes center stage. The more Starfinder detaches from the fantasy setting the happier I'll be.

I predict that the AP will end by the party, flying this doomsday weapon (painted all matte black inside and out) into a sun while a group of Shirren listen (at a safe interplanetary distance) to Disaster Area.

****
However just before impact into the surface of the sun, the PCs will be whisked away to join Aroden on Golarion apart from all the rest of the multiverse.

That sounds weird, where do you get this from?

At the Starfinder panel at UK Games Expo yesterday, there was talk of a superweapon and the comment that "theres a reason it's called dead suns"

Posterior Prognostication? :)

Sounds like The Restaurant at the End of the Universe.

That's exactly what it is.

I think we need to degfine minimum requirements to count as a superweapon. Already Eox has a planet killer cannon that, as far as we know, is still operational... though it is possible that it cant really be aimed anymore than the planet's rotation will eventually point it at different things. There is also a known planet sized space ship which presumably has its own defenses and might even withstand superweapon attacks and a second umm... moon sized? space ship that may or may not have its own vast arsenal that could count. i expect Absalom Station as a beacon of power that evereyone in the galaxy can fast lane too will also have some kind of super scale defensive ability. Weaponized Star Stone maybe?

Some character has been converted from Pathfinder into an undead Eoxian, according to Amanda Kunz in the latest Drift podcast. Think it might be a Runelord?

Knowing my luck, it's probably me. Dammit.

Whispering Tyrant?

I'd assumed she'd meant a Bone Sage, but I guess it could be anyone lol

I totally forgot, but I recently came across some notes I took during the Starfinder AP Panel at PaizoCon. So, here is what I can recall thanks to these notes:

Titles for the 4th and 6th books for Dead Suns will be Ruined Clouds (4th) and Empire of Bones (6th). I couldn't write fast enough to get the 5th one down and totally forgot it since.

The inside covers of the AP issues will all have a new starship; 1 per issue. If I recall correctly, I think the stats and whatnot will be on one inside cover and the layout map will be on the other inside cover.

Each AP issue will have something like a bestiary much like Pathfinder APs, but in a style more suited to Starfinder.

Each issue will have a 1 page article called the Codex of Worlds that will be dedicated to writing up a planet; usually one highlighted in the adventure.

There will be 2 other articles every issue as well. The first issue will be about Absalom Station, the 2nd will be on Castrovel, the 3rd on Eox, and the fourth will have an article on the Drift.

So you mean i unknowningly subscribed to "Warp Drifter Monthly" and get a new galactic hot rod every month? Righteous!

So are we supposed to treat the starfinder society like Starfleet?

Curious on the motives of the group, or if we introduce the different factions of starfinder society that has been going in the blog.

Although the Starfinder Society that appears in the Adventure Path and in Starfinder Society Roleplaying Guild is the same organization, the former does not feature the factions we've been revealing in the blogs. That said, you could absolutely bring those factions into a Dead Suns campaign, and there are numerous sub-goals that could appeal to characters championing those factions.
