Ask the player what the characters encumbrance is and ENFORCE the rule.
This doesn't help at all
For an archer, the efficient quiver only saves you 4 pounds.
For a fighter they have enough strength to carry it and get dropped down to medium, which they're probably at anyway.
For casters, there's ant haul.
