I'd rather chat on gaming.
Anyone have a good gaming story? I recently had an interesting one while test-driving a fighter build in 5e. The fighter is pretty dope in 5e.
My character, a pseudo-Viking named Pereg was equipped with a greatsword. I and several other characters were being swarmed by zombies. While the wizard and the rogue were busy trying their best to become zombie chow, Pereg was rolling crits left and right and ended up taking out pretty much the entire encounter on his own. Score one for basic character creation!
Apparently I'll never have my after-victory session of Princes of the Apocalypse.

My Kingmaker campaign has been full of moments like that. (Warning: Spoilers)
The Florification of the Talonquake
The burning of the Varnhold Tannery
Takeshi surfs the spine of the colossus linnorm
Elegy banishes a zombie mage to Heaven
The Battle of the Mocking Field (AKA Lilith prevents a war without fighting)
The Violin Siege of Drelev / The Plague of Chickens
Ten pounds of crazy in a five-pound bag (AKA Lilith ends yet another war without fighting)
I've gone the entirety of 2015 without updating the journal... oi, there is a LOT more to catch up on, if I can find the time and motivation to sit down and write up the occurrences of Red Hand of Doom.

Ragadolf (and anyone else enamored of Harry Dresden). I highly recommend the Iron Druid Chronicles >>info here<<. It has a very Dresdenish feel to it. I'm on book five now.

Did I mention I have to find a second job? My primary job is not giving me enough hours, since I am on a per diem status they can give me as many as they like, and lately that is fnck-all. So, assuming I want to keep paying my rent, I need to finagle a second source of income. Which kind of sucks because I really do not want to juggle two jobs and college and managing a household solo all at once.
But, steel isn't made by telling the iron ore it's doing great. This next year will be painful, but in the end I think it will be worth it.

It truly does suck, but I have an innate faith in the universe that a solution will present itself. I have managed to hustle enough shifts since May, but they are really putting the starting number down low. Five shifts this next two weeks, three shifts the next two weeks after. I was working with 6-7 starting and I could usually fill that to 10. But, there is no way enough people will call out to fill my dance card up this month. Plus, they just hired another two per diems. It's getting to be like the Hunger Games.

Huh, Very cool,
Adding that to my 'Wish-to-read' list
Thanks Monkey! :)

FYI_ Thanks Monkey, I made the mistake of following your link above to our Silver Rose PbP thread, and THAT link til I saw the tower link, I just spent the last 1-1/2 hours re-reading the Khasstaa Tower act. :/
Ah good times. :)
That was fun to run. The tower burning and then flooding? Priceless.

I had them recommended to me by a friend but never got around to reading them. I'll put them on the Kindle wishlist ASAP.

I have 4 jobs.
Currently only at 3, unless we're counting "job site diplomat/therapist" as #4 (a position for which I am supremely unqualified).
Actually, maybe even 5-- I've given it a lot of thought, and punk rock is a full time job.

Wow. Up at 4 am. Stone sober with only a slight headache for all the pink lemonades* I drank last night.
I should go back to sleep but I don't think I'm going to be able to.
Ah well. I have some cleaning to do anyway.

For the cooks out there. I did Chinese food last night, and the big hit was chicken fingers. Surprisingly easy
Batter:
1/2 cup self-rising flour
1/2 cup cornstarch
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar
3/4 to a cup of water
Chicken breasts cut into strips
Heat oil in pan to 350. Oil at least 1 inch deep. Batter will be very thick. Dredge chicken, toss in oil. Cook ~3 minutes a side or until golden brown. The taste is unbelievable. Blows normal chicken fingers away.

Celestial Healer wrote:I have an audition today to sing the baritone solos in Brahms's Eine Deutsches Requiem only I was out to dinner last night and it was loud, and today my voice is all froggy. :(damn. I hope you get the part.
Soloist for all the solos, all the concert dates! Sweet.

Way ta go CH!
So after years of unstable full time and a series of part time jobs my brother landed a job working on the set of the TV series 'Zoo' making 30 bucks an hour (on call- but hey 30-FRIGGING bucks an hour!) I've been working at the same place for over 20 years and have never made that except in over-time. Way ta go, Bro!

After being steeped in Star Wars during the lead-up to The Force Awakens, especially during my recent playthrough of Knights of the Old Republic, I made an impulsive purchase and picked up a copy of Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi: Omnibus vol. 1 (featuring cover art by my boy Steve Ellis) for an uncomfortable amount of money. I remember flipping through the comics when I was but a youngling, and thinking that it "didn't feel like real Star Wars." But the couple of issues I looked at stuck with me, and after a couple of decades, it merited a second look.
I can now say with confidence that Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi: Omnibus vol. 1 is amazing. I don't think I've ever loved the character and environment designs more in a comic book. I might even like this more than Hellboy, which I didn't think was possible. Well worth the $/redacted/ that I paid for it. Now to save up for volume 2...
