It might be a bit early, but what characters are you thinking about for this adventure path?
I haven't decided on names yet, but I'm looking at:
Fetchling mesmerist (vexing daredevil) from Nidal with the Gloom Shimmer alternate racial trait and possibly some of the umbral mesmerism options from Occult Realms.
Half-elf summoner (Unchained version, devil eidolon) with the Ancestral Arms (Hooked Lance) alternate racial trait and the feat Human Spirit. Starting with 13 Int, but will add +1 Int and retrain Human Spirit for Toughness at 4th. Will probably take two levels in the diabolist PrC and may seek a way to gain the devil-bound template (horned devil).
Human occultist (battle host) starting with a suit of hellknight armor as their Panoply Bond item and Transmutation as their implement school (Size Alteration); then Conjuration school at 2nd (Summon Implement at 3rd), Quickness at 5th, and Mind Over Gravity at 7th; then two levels of hellknight to gain the ability to move at full speed in hellknight armor; at 12th level (occultist 10), selecting the Divination school for the Third Eye resonant power.
Human warpriest (divine commander, Doloras) with the Noble Scion (Narikopolus family) feat (from the 3.5 Campaign Setting), Focus Weapon in longbow; concentrating on archery (possibly spending the additional feats for Mounted Combat/Mounted Archery) while using a kukri (deity's favored weapon) in melee.

Also see this thread.
Also, I've had thoughts of playing a Mad Cowboy politician type of character -- actually have one in mind for Carrion Crown, but since none of Cheliax legally has a democracy (unlike parts of Ustalav that do), this is going to take some reflavoring.

I believe I would likely be a Human Inquisitor of Asmodeus. My goal would be to come across so reasonable that I essentially make even my fellow party members forget that we are evil. Most definitely the face.
The nicest most personable LE guy I could be.
"Yes, excellent. Killing this town of peasants no doubt also had the side effect of rooting out seditious elements. Just think of all the good law abiding citizens who would have been caught in that conflict. Good work Slobber, Maw of Lamashtu. Good boy." *Pat*
Failing that, a valiant Hellknight.

I'll probably be GMing, but if I did somehow play, I have a hellspawn tiefling inquisitor of Asmodeus with the monster tactician archetype.
The Asmodeus article (from Pathfinder Adventure Path #29: Mother of Flies) lists hell hounds as a [i]summon monster II option. The character would focus on summoning them specifically.

By the way, a question related to the setting of this AP (and Hell's Rebels, and Council of Thieves, and Curse of the Crimson Throne):
Martial Hellknights are called Armigers before they pass The Test and gain full Hellknight membership, but what are spellcasting Hellknights called before they pass The Test and become Hellknight Signifers? This information is missing in the Hellknight Ranks article.

As far as I know, they're also armigers. I'm not sure a distinction is made before they reach Hellknight rank, nor do I believe one has ever been specified in canon.
Perhaps the upcoming Pathfinder Tales: Hellknight will provide an answer. ^_^

Current Lineup of the group waiting in the wings:
Lilliana DeVries- LE Infernal-Blooded Human Sorcerer from Egorian, with an emphasis on social skills and charm spells. Took the "Rich Parents" Trait(we're still waiting on campaign traits, of course) to represent her nouveau riche status, since she married a wealthy merchant who then had a rather tragic accident involving a patch of ice, a flight of stairs, and an open cellar door. Much of the estate is still tied up in court, but she's well-off.
Sorin Kell- LE Slayer, Isgeri-born orphan, looking to take levels in Assassin as soon as possible. Formally affiliated with the Church of Asmodeus through his sister, and personally loyal to them thanks to their raising him, describes himself as a "gardener." His specialty is pulling troublesome weeds. Like Bellflowers.
Cassiel Kell- LE Cleric of Asmodeus, Sorin's twin sister. Raised by the Daughters of the Golden Erinyes, but since she was more pious than athletic, she became a Cleric instead of a monk. If experience with this group is anything to go by, she'll end up in charge. Claims to be saving herself for Asmodeus, since no mere man can measure up.
Tarok of Korvosa- LE Half-Orc fighter from Varisia, with every intention of taking the Hellknight Prestige Class. Found by Korvosan Hellknights during some good old-fashioned Orc-stomping while just an infant, he considers the strict order of the Asmodean faith to be all that stands between him and his "savage Orcish instincts." More fanatical than Cassiel, he has still made her the object of a rough species of courtly romance, respecting her desire to keep her virtue for their god.
So... yeah...gimme a player's guide to throw these guys already!

Oh, "Gardener", nice. Very nice. All kinds of possibilities, especially when alchemy is involved. Or botany. Or ... ;)

My planned character doesn't give half a damn for all this 'law and order' nonsense. She just wants power, and if Thrune is backing her, she'll do whatever the hell they want. You see, she has only one real 'goal' for life:
To cast spawn calling and unmake this world in Rovagug's image.
Demytha, half-orc witch of Rovagug is here. She'll make you suffer now, but you'll suffer even more later.
Currently toying with the idea of a Ley Line Guardian who has direct ties to Rovagug's power, but that means I may not get my desired spell in the campaign! Such dilemma!
Not to mention I'm gonna take Scribe Scroll. Imagine: scrolls of spawn calling spread to cults throughout the Inner Sea Region. Maybe even the world! Truly a plan moste foule.

I'd like make Fu Manchu somehow, probably Cult Master. Our shared campaign canon saw the skull of Ydersius taken to Cheliax(a halfling Serpentine sorc had an epiphany after saving the world) so some kind of snake cult would be cool. You know, two snakes facing each other and a black sun. That kinda thang.
And now I've got this image of a halfling James Earl Jones with Fu Manchu stache and it don't leave me!

Summoner, character who might have been in Hell's Rebels under different circumstances but has been "re educated" by House Thrune. Has suffered brain damange and has a low intelligence and his Eidolon is now smarter than he is. Speaks in Asodean propaganda and has the look of a prisoner whose spirit has been broken but obeys out of abject fear.

LE Cleric of Asmodeus eventually going into Diabolist and Darkfire Adept, because if we reach 16th level that lets him summon a Pit Fiend. Hell serves Cheliax, not the reverse, and there is no better way to remind those uppity devils of this than having the one of the greatest devils of hell, a bound Pit Fiend, at your every beck and call!
Huh? Playing with fire? Psh, we Asmodeans love fire! ....ouch.

No! Seriously! This isn't funny, that a*!+~@$ piece of donkey s~%+ has no place on this site.
Edit: I'm sorry I'm so worked up, the saturation point has been reached for me, I would like this to be a safe place in the storm, somewhere I can be smurfy. His presence will just ruin that. And in all honesty, my family loves talking politics all Christmas long, so guess what I have to look forward to. :-(

Well, I DID say that they were disturbing thoughts . . . it's nice to know that Hell's Vengeance won't be THAT Evil.
A quick Google search turned up that I am not alone, although some of the others that I have found tend less towards Hell's Vengeance and more towards Strange Aeons . . . .
Mr. Bubbles |
Lately I've been having disturbing thoughts of Donald Trump as a Hell's Vengeance character . . . .
Make Cheliax Great Again!
On Topic, it depends on the level of 3pp content or Point Buy the DM is using. Fast and loose? I'd probably aim for a Warder (Zweihander Sentinel) swordsman that's all about gaining favor with House Thrune. First party content? I'm thinking of going with the village a*+&!~@, thrown into the Longacre prison for something-or-other, probably as a Brawler.

He seems like he'd fit in Galt just fine, what with all the witch-hunting and demagoguery.
Would it be worth it if it got you a Galtan AP? :P
Actually, now that you mention it, Galt does sound like a good place for this, except for the problem that no such AP will be announced (let alone out) before the 2016 election. Of course, knowing my luck and lack of life, I probably won't be able to get into a PbP before then anyway . . . .

No problem. Now, just take a few deep breaths, and try to divert your mind to something else. How would you optimize a character for this campaign? Yeah, character optimization -- that's the ticket that everyone can agree on -- perfectly neutral flavor . . .
Just think of a White-Haired Witch, enthralling masses with voodoo proclamations and attacking opponents with his hair/toupee . . . .

Current plan....which could change at a moments notice...Keneticist, who's fire is "hellfire"....if I can sort a few things out.
I would make it a spell level 7 or 8 Infusion that makes half the damage supernatural and thus overcomes fire resistence or Immunity like the unnatural cold ability from the winter witch prestige class.

Pyrokineticist that takes void (negative blast) with Expanded Element at 7th level could work to gain the negative admixture (half fire, half negative energy) composite blast; not exactly hellfire, but similar. The void element is detailed in Pathfinder Player Companion: Occult Origins.

That's one route I have looked at...as well as getting the GM to OK "Corrupt spell like ability" from 3.5
Currently, after seeing the elemental saturation in Occult Realms...I'm toying with an elemental saturation to replace Blue Flame Blast at 7th level...Hellfire Blast :P
Same basic premise as Blue Flame...but half Fire and Half unholy...
So evil aligned/type creatures would only take the fire damage...
Neutral would take composite blast dmg (fire and unholy)...
And good aligned/typed creatures would take half fire/x2 unholy...
Just trying to decide if that's balanced enough to broach the GM with...opinions ???

Thanks for tossing that suggestion out there by the way....that both helps me to validate the level (7th) as well as the overall idea ;)
