RuneBlade or Card Caster

Advice

I have 2 classes I would like to run, but I am not for sure if it is possible to build either of these characters.

Character 1 RuneBlade: Basically the concept for this is someone who inscribes runes in their sword/weapon during combat as a casting medium. So for example, lets say I wanted to use shocking grasp. I would spend an action (Not for sure what kind or if this can be done) writing my rune or inscribing my rune into my blade. Then when I strike with it, or choose to release the spell, the spell comes off my blade instead of from me. I'd be up for something similar, but I haven't found a way to do even anything similar yet.

Character 2 Card Caster: Basically a character who would keep a very limited deck of cards (based on level), and his/her cards hold their spells. He/she then casts from his/her cards.

Anyone have any ideas on how to do this in pathfinders? The group I run with typically doesn't let third party stuff in. However, if it was just a couple of feats or spells etc. (not an entire class) they might let me do it.

Isn't the RuneBlade basically a Magus spellstrike refluff?

For the Card Caster, you'll have to look into 3rd party. I remember a brew that was pretty high quality with that mechanic from GitP.

Yeah so runeblade would be able to use more than just touch spells is the difference between it and the magus spellstrike. And turns out there is a card caster magus archetype, but it is thrown cards. Im just wanting to hold a deck and cast off them. However, it's still a pretty cool archetype!

A Spell storing weapon could work then, up to 3rd level spells. If you want it applicable to any weapon, I think you'll need to look into 3rd party; but just adding it to the Magus pool enhancement list could work.

Thats a good idea, thanks!

You could look at the various harrow archetypes for the card caster. There is a witch archetype and a sorcerer bloodline.

As mentioned your "runeblade" is a Magus spellstrike. Nothing else exists to fulfill this idea beyond getting spellstoring on your weapon, which isn't exactly something you'll be getting for a while.

For your card caster, just look up things related to harrow decks.

1) is basically a Magus Spellstrike or you can do it with a Spell Storing weapon

2) is either a Card Caster Magus, a Cartomancer Witch or a Harrower (prestige class)

Especially the Cartomancer holds her spells in the Harrow Deck like a Wizard does with his Spellbok

1) sounds more like a wizard's (or arcane sorcerer's, or half-elf bonded witch's, etc.) bonded item to me. Having spells with arbitrary range or targets come off the weapon isn't exactly spellstrike.

There is no reason as a prepared arcane spell caster count not "prepare" their spells onto cards. Creating the cards could be considered consuming their components to create the cards and those cards become the components in combat.

Alternately my telekinetic trickster is going to use cards as the medium of his telekinetic blast though that's basically just throwing physical cards really hard.

it's basically what the cartomancer witch does, save that the cards are less like components and more like a spellbook
