So... after seeing quite a few requests for solo campaigns here and elsewhere. I decided I want to see what a solo campaign is like... and I’m wondering if anyone is interested in being a DM for a solo campaign for me. Especially as I do have quite a few character and builds that I have been wanting to test out for a while, and haven’t yet had the chance.
Now... the only hard limit I have for a DM willing to DM this is do not start on level 1 or 2. I just, do not like starting as such a low level. Apart from that, I really don’t want to restrict any interested DMs. Setting, Campaign, rules, character generation, the amount of characters I play... go wild! I’m pretty much willing to play anything and everything if someone’s willing to solo DM.
That being said, I will admit that I definitely have a preference for the more... interesting character generations. I heavily favour DSP’s Path of War and Path of War Expanded material, and I rather like playing Gestalt characters as well. Monster races can also be fun to play from time to time. These are not hard limits, but simply my preferences. Depending on the char gen, if anyone else is interested... well, I wouldn’t mind one extra person to campaign with.

... Go for Adventure Path Style Length. Best to aim long and have it end short than go short and overshoot it. Plus, I actually want a long campaign for once.
Eeeh, to be honest I've had a large mix of games in the past. Ones where I was part of a small espionarge group performing an investigation to find a potential secret weapon to end a hundred years war... to being chosen by the oldest of gods to utlizie an ancient weapon (which happened to be a mech. In a fantasy setting) against an invasion of devils and demons to finally destroy their portals.
So... big mix of action, RPing and puzzles. Oh and homebrew, plently of homebrew, but that was mainly for 3.5, not Pathfinder. Most of my campaigns so far have been pretty short however... mostly due to people losing interest or the DM running out of time.
Honestly the main thing is that I always play a good guy or a netural guy. Even when playing a monster going to be making his own dungeon (or be part of a dungeon) I was still netural, so that's likely the main thing to keep in mind.

I prefer making characters to the campaign. I really wouldn't mind having to make a few characters instead of one. Oh and ummm, might it be possible that everyone has access to Combat Stamina and its tricks? And Varient Multiclassing...? And by Patron Saint of 3rd Party, does that mean you'll be good with Steelforge?

I'm a big fan of VMC. I'm trying to get a Barbarian with a VMC of Cavalier into a game somewhere.
...I'm failing, but I am trying!
I like everyone can access Combat Stamina, but fighters get it for free. Cool by you?
By Steelforge you mean the Playtest by Dreamscarred Press, yeah? I've honestly not looked at it. Playtests tend to make my teeth itch if an option I really like vanishes from the finished product. But I'm certainly open to it.
As for setting...you want unique and interesting? I might have an idea. How does this sound?
When the world is ending, you don't get many choices. They said it was our own fault, that we'd brought this disaster on ourselves. That we were too greedy. Maybe it was true. But we had no intention of letting things go. It's not the way of Mortals to accept fate, even when the Gods turn there back on us.
Magic was out salvation. Between the worlds and the planes there is a place, a more stable form of the Demi-Planes some spellcasters can create. It was there that we ran. A world of our own making, forged from what we could salvage of the old world. Cities, towns, mountains...we ripped them from the dying ground and knitted it back together as best we could.
Our desperate efforts to flee only hastened the end of our world. Magma poured from the wounded ground like water, engulfing whole forests and nations. Earthquakes racked the ground daily. But when the world finally turned into blackened, barren waste unable to support life, we were gone. Not everyone made it. We couldn't all escape. But enough of us left. We can carry on...
But the Crossing was hard, chaotic, rushed. Accidents happened...
The basic premise behind this game is your world is a magical construct, a sorta super demi-plane made of thousands of floating islands, miles wide, ripped from a dying world and nor connected by vast bridges. The trip over left most of the population to die - even now whole islands have been deserted, overgrown, whatever was there that made them worth saving now lost.
Your character would be waking up from cold sleep, having been injured during the Crossing. A thousand years have passed, and you're waking up to a world that's settled into it's reality, and it's notion of what your world were like.
Sound at all promising, or shall I try again?

I've never read those books. I'll have to go see if I can find them. They sound cool.
OK then, if you're cool with the setting...we'll do character creation.
Points Buy - 25 points.
Starting Level - How about 5? You've lived through an apocalypse, after all.
Starting Gold - 10,500gp
Sources - Anything you can link me to. Since it's 1 on 1 there's really no reason to not go for anything - I can jiggle the difficulty up and down a little to match what your character can throw.
Of course, you're likely to run into some characters using third party too...Time Thieves are cool.
Special Rules Variant Multiclassing (Including Rogue Genius' excellent Genius Guide to Variant Multiclassing, which I own) and the Stamina System. Do you want to try any of the Skill systems, like Background Skills, out? I could go for those.
Sound good?
| Fury of the Tempest |
That does sound good, and I don't want to try Background Skills out. Because I already have used and liked them. That being said... if your going to be using Variant Multiclassing of a different party... can you share the PDF with me somehow? (Do you have Skype? That would be a great way to do it), because I am interested in what it offers, but I'm not going to buy it just for this game.
| Fury of the Tempest |
Yeah, the character gen and the general campaign setting is awesome, but I really want to see the full VMC options before I go ahead with my character...
Pity you don't have Skype (or don't want to share it with me), as that wouldn't just make it easy to send it over, but we would easily be able to talk and see when one another is online.... but ehm, if you don't have it, you don't have it. Guess we'll just need to find another way...
Maybe Google Drive? It does allow you to upload files, and then you can simply PM me the link (after giving anyone with the link permission to view)
