Can anyone help me word this perfectly for my GM please? Basically I want a feat that will allow a Sylph (racial check) to replace Self Telekinesis with Wings of Air. My wording feels awkward to me...
Wings of Air
You replace your Self Telekinesis with Wings of Air.
Prerequisites: Sylph. Kineticist level 6 with Elemental Focus of Aether. Self Telekinesis, Telekinetic Finesse and Telekinetic Haul. Special.
Benefit: You may replace Self Telekinesis with the Wings of Air Wild Talent without needing to meet the prerequisites for the Talent. If you have an Expanded Element, it must already be Air for you to take this Feat. If you don't yet have an Expanded Element, when selecting your Expanded Element you must select Air.

I have no idea about the Kineticist or any of its abilities, including Self Telekinesis, but if you are looking at so many prerequisites for your custom ability is there any particular reason you just couldn't take Airy Step and Wings of Air? I'm sorry but my ignorance of the class leaves me not understanding your issue.

Primary reason is E6. The Aether Kineticist has everything I've ever wanted in a class, strong Telekinesis, the right skills, and even Flight. However, their "flight" is a reflection of the Fire's flight (Flame Jet), and even has the description of "as Flame Jet" rather than its own rules, which means we fly around like there's fire coming out of our exhaust hole (polite way of saying that location).
We all get to take flight as early as 6th level (perfect for an E6), but the Air one is not only so much better and comes at level 6, but it's far more thematic with Aether (especially since we can fine manipulate hundreds of pounds, but bounce around like we wear a jet pack when we use it on ourselves).
So, the goal is to switch it over. Unlike Air, we don't get "Fly" as a class skill, so we aren't as good as Air types, and if we spend an extra feat more than they need to spend, it balances out. And to be fair, I'd happily spend all 3 of my feats at level 6 for this.
This is also why I don't just wait until I'm level 7 to add Air as an element (I'll never reach 7) and level 9 to get Wings of Air from the list of Wild Talents (then I wouldn't even need the Wings of Air feat from the Sylph race). :(
E6 tends to force some rewriting of rules. However, even if my GM doesn't go for it, I'll be happy with Self Telekinesis. Just hoping for a bit more since it's racially thematic, as well as class-based thematic. :)

Wouldn't be needed if he was in the air element. :P
Although admittedly you may have a point in regards to the class as a whole. Perhaps a better way to do the feat would be to allow any Sylph Kineticist to pick up an Air Wild Talent in place of a Wild Talent of their own element, of equal or higher level, as long as they had taken Airy Step as a Feat already.
Same for each of the elemental races that aren't in their own element...
Just seems a lot more abuse-able to make such a broad allowance...
