It does in this game because I worked with Vin. And it's not really that much more powerful because first I have to hit him and then overcome his CMD. The first time I tried this I got a grand total of 6 for my attack.

Male Tiefling Barbarian 5 | AC 19, Touch 13, FF 16 | HP 65/86 | F +7, R +4, W +3 | Init +3 | Perc +10

I mean, it totally makes sense logically that you could trip somebody with it. Enough force to cause damage would logically be enough force to trip somebody, although just as with tripping I might make it so you either get that or the damage, not both. Very cool though!

Oh, just wait.

Wild Fighting (Ex)

At 2nd level, even when not raging, wild ragers often fight with reckless, savage abandon. A wild rager using the full-attack action can make one extra attack per round at her highest base attack bonus. Until the beginning of her next turn, however, she takes a –2 penalty on attack rolls and –4 penalty to AC.

My AC is going to be awful, but I'm going to be a death machine. Just wait until level 6 and somebody picks up haste. 4 attacks/round.

And then we hope I don't fail a will save ;)

HP: 3/12, NL: 0 | AC 11/11/10 | F+4 R +1 W+1 | Per: +1 | Init: +1

I really, really hope you're planning on taking Iron Will. I've played Barbarians before. I know what we're like. Friend or foe, it doesn't matter when the dice come up 20s. ;)

Male Tiefling Barbarian 5 | AC 19, Touch 13, FF 16 | HP 65/86 | F +7, R +4, W +3 | Init +3 | Perc +10

Next feat is raging vitality for sure. Iron will would be good to pick up, although I was thinking about taking furious focus at 5th level. Hmm, choices choices.

Obviously you guys have no idea what's going on now, but once you learn, basically the strategy is "make sure he's balls deep in enemies". The worst case scenario then is that I hurt myself, and while that's pretty bad, it's nowhere near as bad as killing a party member.

Female Gnome Oracle 6 / Heirophant 1 HP: 45/60 | AC:22 T: 13 FF: 21 | Fort: +6 | Ref: +5 | Will: +9 | Perception: +7 Initiative: +3

But healers have to touch you, unless marra can channel positive energy and then she would have to take selective channel pretty quick.

Iraldia we have a longbow i believe we picked up from the four guards killed in the mine.

Male Tiefling Barbarian 5 | AC 19, Touch 13, FF 16 | HP 65/86 | F +7, R +4, W +3 | Init +3 | Perc +10

Oh that's a good point Breewyn. However that leads to a question that the forums seem unable to answer to me.

Say I'm raging and I drop an enemy, then I fail my will save. Next turn I am confused and I roll to "Attack nearest creature". What happens when there are multiple people the same distance from me? Do I get to choose? Do I decide randomly? Do I attack whoever is more threatening? In the case that somebody attacks me I don't have to roll and I automatically attack them back, but if nobody attacks me before my next turn, then how would I decide who to target?

HP: 3/12, NL: 0 | AC 11/11/10 | F+4 R +1 W+1 | Per: +1 | Init: +1

Roll for it, I'd say, but then again, I'm not the GM.

Octavian wrote:
Heehee no confusion for you my freind. I killed him with my Aoo first. Really really didn't want to you unleash on one of us.

I dropped another guard that turn anyways, so I would have to roll regardless.

Game Master

I'd say best course is arbitrarily assign each person a number, roll for it, and let the dice decide, but if someone attacks you while confused, you automatically attack them back.

Male Tiefling Barbarian 5 | AC 19, Touch 13, FF 16 | HP 65/86 | F +7, R +4, W +3 | Init +3 | Perc +10

I'd say that's fair. So I'm going to assign each person a number based on placement as if reading text, like so.

1 - 2 - 3
4 - J - 5
6 - 7 - 8

Where J is Jietin, and the other slots are in what order I will assign numbers. I just wanted to create a baseline now so nobody thought I was trying to fudge the numbers. For instance, say I have three people adjacent to me, I would assign them like so.

1 - x - x
x - J - 2
x - 3 - x

Target: 1d3 ⇒ 3

So I would attack the one south of me. Does that sound good?

Game Master

Yeah that sounds perfect!

Game Master

So I think the flow of posts have been much better with the new way of doing combat. Were getting at least two rounds of combat minimum done a day, which is nice. And with how things are looking, the combat may resolve in a round or two.

What are your thoughts on it all?

Aranae

Seems pretty good to me.

I personally am struggling because I play mostly types that can do "combat" early on, don't dip my toes in sorcerers and wizards very often so I find myself having to make different choices. Its good but sorta hilarious "OH I should charge....no wait no I shouldn't.." etc.

Game Master

Haha, that would be a sight to see, a Sorcerer leading a charge into the front lines. Talk about playing with fate!

Male Tiefling Barbarian 5 | AC 19, Touch 13, FF 16 | HP 65/86 | F +7, R +4, W +3 | Init +3 | Perc +10

I think you're doing a great job DM. Very cinematic, it's an enjoyable and effective way to do combat.

Male Goblin Shaman 2 HP: 0/20 | AC:17 T:17 FF: 11 | Fort: +4 | Ref: +6 | Will: +7 | Perception: +11 Initiative: +6

I agree. Things are moving along nicely.

Really enjoying the combat and the dialogue between everybody.

Really grateful for this, considering i was the one he turned and looked at.

It's been fun so far! The storytelling is very vibrant and I feel similarly to Tsakua - the combat and the dialogue between everyone is enjoyable.

HP: 3/12, NL: 0 | AC 11/11/10 | F+4 R +1 W+1 | Per: +1 | Init: +1

Yes, it has been fun. I'm looking forward to getting know everyone's character more, not to mention seeing what else is coming our way.

Female Human Cleric <Fire, Good> - [ L01 (HP: 9/9) | AC: 12 / FF: 10 / T: 12 | Fort: +3, Ref: +2, Will: +6 | Init: +2 | Perception: +7 ]

If whatever this thing that is coming our way doesn't kill us first! :D

M Half-Orc Brawler 6 (Shield Champion) / HP(43/94) / AC 22 T14 FF 18 / Saves F+11 R+11 W+5/ CMB +12 (grapple +14) CMD 26/ Init +4

Not necessarily. There's definitely a *very slim* chance we'll survive.

[pause to consider this]

I love this plan! I'm excited to be a part of it! LET'S DO IT!

Female Human Cleric <Fire, Good> - [ L01 (HP: 9/9) | AC: 12 / FF: 10 / T: 12 | Fort: +3, Ref: +2, Will: +6 | Init: +2 | Perception: +7 ]

Kinda terrible question incoming - if one is blinded, are they still allowed to run, or is there a penalty/increase to DC? Will the acrobatics DC be increased?

Game Master

You can still run, you arent totally blinded where you can move on the landscape, you can get the general direction. Imagine seeing a real hazy version of the world. So it doesn't prevent you from running, only combat.

M Half-Orc Brawler 6 (Shield Champion) / HP(43/94) / AC 22 T14 FF 18 / Saves F+11 R+11 W+5/ CMB +12 (grapple +14) CMD 26/ Init +4

Edit: So, what wondering is if those checks are sequential, or would failing the acrobatics prevent movement entirely? sorry, just a bit confused on the phrasing there.

Female Human Cleric <Fire, Good> - [ L01 (HP: 9/9) | AC: 12 / FF: 10 / T: 12 | Fort: +3, Ref: +2, Will: +6 | Init: +2 | Perception: +7 ]

nvm.

Game Master

Ah, okay, acrobatics determines how far you make it, it wont stop you from moving at all. Sorry for getting back to you super late.

Game Master

I will post shortly! Just have to run out right quick.

Male Tiefling Barbarian 5 | AC 19, Touch 13, FF 16 | HP 65/86 | F +7, R +4, W +3 | Init +3 | Perc +10

I know exactly what's going on, but my poor dumb character doesn't have the slightest clue. Bravo DM, very thematically appropriate.

Game Master

*Takes a bow* Why thank you, I do try to make it things appear as what your characters would see, not the players.

M Half-Orc Brawler 6 (Shield Champion) / HP(43/94) / AC 22 T14 FF 18 / Saves F+11 R+11 W+5/ CMB +12 (grapple +14) CMD 26/ Init +4

You're doing a good job. I have no clue what's going on and I'm having a blast!

HP: 3/12, NL: 0 | AC 11/11/10 | F+4 R +1 W+1 | Per: +1 | Init: +1

Yes, this is a very very well done encounter. Going for rout to run for cover in two rounds. Bravo, sir, bravo.

Aranae

So strange my gameplay stopped updating sorry I have been on the quiet side I didn't see like a dozen posts, grr argh.

Edit: Maybe more like two dozen? My word...

Yeah it's been kind of rolling right along, especially with the storm zotting everyone.

I have been having the same issue.

That's unfortunate Zorgg, hope that doesn't keep happening.

Dang Luca, you know how to sweat talk a dragon!

I try. :D

Also I may or may not have been listening to the Sojourn audiobook for the Legend of Drizzt series recently. ;)

lol you cheated!

HP: 3/12, NL: 0 | AC 11/11/10 | F+4 R +1 W+1 | Per: +1 | Init: +1

Well, that and Luca's not as bull-headed as some of my other characters, all human, are. If I was playing a Whitescale, then we'd likely be in the middle of a shouting match between a very riled up human and a peeved dragon.

Male Tiefling Barbarian 5 | AC 19, Touch 13, FF 16 | HP 65/86 | F +7, R +4, W +3 | Init +3 | Perc +10

No, you would be dead. Very dead.

Hehe the wizard is staying in draconic because that's the dragon's native language. We all have our own ways to stroke her ago.

Male Tiefling Barbarian 5 | AC 19, Touch 13, FF 16 | HP 65/86 | F +7, R +4, W +3 | Init +3 | Perc +10

To the contrary, most dragons hate it when you address them in their native language. They think it's equivalent to you saying that you're just as good as they are. However, all dragons are different.

Male Tiefling Barbarian 5 | AC 19, Touch 13, FF 16 | HP 65/86 | F +7, R +4, W +3 | Init +3 | Perc +10

Their armor is amazing, it's by far the best light armor. It's basically leaf armor, but even lighter.

Game Master

Imperials don't skimp on their equipment!

Game Master

Fire trap to the face! How do you like dem apples Octavian!
