I've got no idea how it's travelling, but it feels to me that the modules lack a certain enthusiasm in the community (the message board community, anyhow). I really like the new format, but I wonder if they've drifted a little close to becoming "an AP instalment with smaller appendices"?
I wondered if a clear, qualitative distinction could be made in the structure of the modules themselves and if this might increase their appeal by catering to a slightly different market segment. They seem to me to be on the railroad side of things - quite similar to the average AP chapter in structure: a place, a situation, a villain and a pretty clearly signposted "expected path to resolution". I'd like to see some more towards the sandbox end of the spectrum - a site based adventure with a setting, a villain, a plot-that-will-happen-if-you-don't-do-something but without the same part one...part two...part three...climax structure that they tend to adopt.
An AP is going to struggle to allow too much leeway, but it seems to me that a module would be a good place to try out a qualitatively different style of adventure.
