Princes of Blood and Shadow: Vampiric Way of the Wicked Interest Check

Recruitment

As the title states, I am curious if people would be interested in an all-vampire WotW with a slightly altered storyline?

Story-wise, you would not start the campaign in the prison, you would start the campaign in media res, traveling from the vampiric den within Ghasterhall to answer the call of one of the most ancient members of the vampires within Talingarde, who is known in legends as the Sanguine Cardinal. From there, the plot will proceed as normal, only instead of gaining vengeance on Talingarde, you will be aiming to turn it into a place much more suitable to your kind.

Vampiric society will be STRONGLY reminiscent of Vampire the Masquerade. Said society has several rules and traditions that seem quite antiquated, but have managed to preserve the vampires of Talingarde for centuries, at least until the accursed Mitrans took over the nation and began their Inquisitions to root out vampires and other creatures of the night.

Regarding vampirism in this game, as long as you are fed on blood, sunlight will not kill you, though it will severely weaken you. This is to make travelling easier and to preserve the old lore about vampires, such as that mentioned in Bram Stoker's Dracula. There is also a certain elixir that can be made from a very rare plant that will protect you from sunlight's deleterious effects. You will have a few samples of said elixir at the start of the campaign.

You will also be able to select your 'lineage', which places you within a certain breed of vampire. There will be anywhere from the core 4 in Pathfinder to possibly 9-10, if I choose to dig through some resources I have on vampirism.

I will, of course, provide any templates that are available for PC use.

So, what does everyone think? Would people apply for this if I made the recruitment for it?

would be interested. I bet there are also others who would like to play. only time will tell

would be interested

Playing a vampire game sounds really fun, count me as interested.

YES

Interresting. WotW allows for vampires anyway. Effectively you would be giving everyone 5 free feats, rather than the feat chain required in the standard WotW.

I would definitely be up for it, can imagine a whole host of interesting characters - Nosferatu druids, vampire bards and swashbucklers, and a bunch of other classes.

interest is checked I believe.

I would definately submit a character

oh hellz yes, that would be awesome

Yes, I would be interested as well.

super down.

If the actual recruitment thread doesn't pass 200 post I would be shocked.

Way of the wicked is already super popular and vampires are awesome, so pretty much a double win.

Scarab Sages

I would love to become a blood sucker.

Pretty much the ideal game.
Count me interested!

Interested, for sure.

Dark Archive

Yeah, that sounds pretty cool. I'd definitely be interested.

Pre-emptive question: what is your opinion on 3pp content? Dreamscarred Press stuff, in particular.

I will work on recruitment sometime today, though I am unsure when I will start or finish.

Seranov, it's GM Merchant Zoruugasz from Lords of Gossamer and Shadow! Obviously those classes are fine.

Didn't notice it was you!
Will definitely be interested in this!

Hi Bigrig107!

Dark Archive

Well snap, I'm totally down then!

Shows me for not mousing over people to see who they are aliases of. D:

That's what you get for not being a nosy bugger like me! :P

Dost thou have room for a classy but utterly brutal Moroi Bard, GM Sir?

Excellent. I have a few days off, good timing for me to work on a submission. I run a Vampire the Dark Ages PBP here on the boards. It would be interesting to see how a Pathfinder game with a similar concept would work.

Aw yiss. This should be good.

Haven't read or played WotW, but it sounds like a very neat idea.

Color me interested.

Vampire templates traditionally mix exceedingly well with cha-based melee classes, so I think a Warlord is in order, since it seems DSP is allowed.

Maybe with access to Black Seraph - that one fits the theme well.

yep love both, I have escaped the prison 6-7 times now and would love to see what the story beyond is.

Gah! You guessed the concept I was going to go for! ;)

I might actually try for a Zealot from PoW:E. There's even an archetype that blends Black Seraph and Silver Crane.

Definitely interested. This seems like this can be a great game

Scarab Sages

Any new update on this?

This sounds very fun. Is there a recruitment thread up yet?

*Raises hand*

I am interested. Looking forwards to seeing more.

*Bows and glides back into the shadows*

I would be very interested, as Ashe has stated, I too have started it once or twice to have the game suddenly bow out. I would be curious to see what people would want to run. I wouldn't be opposed to a warcleric of Asmodeus or perhaps a bard of Lamashtu. I've been wanting to play a support like a bard for a while so I'm itching for a good game where I can try that out.

Wait...Vampire the Masquere inspired... ~squeel of joy~ I don't know if I wanna be a Malkavian or a Tremere now, bard could lean either way. HMM HMM HMMMMMM

I've been corresponding with the GM. He's waiting until he finishes the recruitment that he currently has up before he opens another.

Sounds neat.

I think you have your answer.

=)

Yep, would definitely apply.

Either Ventrue or Tremere, me thinks...i doubt I'll get a chance as Malkavian despite them being fun too. ^_^

Based on the DM's OP, I do not think we will be choosing Clans, I think the societal structure will be likened to Vamp, a la Underworld or Blade, but not utilizing the elements exactly. If you are interested in an actual Vamp game, send me a PM and I will keep you in mind if any of the players drop out of the Vamp game I run here on the boards. It happens from time to time.

Is it only going to be Vampires or will other Undead be allowed to play?
Ex Lich, Worm that walks, Ghouls , Ect

*Hovers and waits with antici...*

I don't plan to put forward a character for this one (I already played through Way of the Wicked most of the way through, picking up the Nosferatu template at 12th level), but I do have some advice:

You see all the encounters as written? Tear these up, throw them out, write new ones.

At least as far as books 4, 5, and 6 are concerned, any reasonably optimized PC with a Vampire template is going to ANNIHILATE the written encounters. The party I played with (My Nosferatu Inquisitor, a Graveknight Antipaladin, a Half-Fiend Arcanist, and a Shadow Lord Zen Archer) basically walked through everything without breaking a sweat.

Our GM gave up at the end of book 4 or 5 (we were level 15) because there was nothing in the AP at that point that came close to challenging us. Even the final boss is weaksauce.

Do vampires have souls? Or any undead?

Only if they are wearing shoes.
