![]() Hey GM! Did you miss my post or do you just want to keep everyone in the dark on that fact? I totes understand either way! I wrote:

![]() Yes, it is quite possible. In fact, if I recall correctly, there is an opportunity to confront him as he's about to dip a child in the water to become alligator food, assuming that you want to play it that way. Considering the type of person Gaedren Lamm is, I believe he might, if pressed, drop the child in the water so PCs would focus on saving the child from drowning/getting eaten, giving him an opportunity to escape. Does that help any? ![]()
![]() Stat Roll: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 4) = 14
Oh wow, that 6 score is LOW! Hmmm... what to play? A Monk would be pretty good, considering they don't rely on weapons. A Magus is also a possibility. Maybe a Slayer? ![]()
![]() Oh my! Will there be any crossover between Investigator and Adventurer? Like creepy s*** starts happening in the Investigator's lives that echo events that happen in the game? I smell great potential for some Silent Hill 4-type horror with the in-game characters if so! EDIT: Can you imagine the Investigator's horror when, the next day after a major NPC dies in the game, one of their associates/friends/family dies in an identical manner? That would be quite unnerving for the characters! ![]()
![]() 1. Carrion Crown, because you can have them face one of the villains early and procure a *REDACTED* from them, therefore preventing the need to take action later. 2. It's about the same, if we are being honest. Parties with a Cleric/Oracle character make it MUCH easier, for obvious reasons, but they are not a necessity. You would need to add a bit more loot to compensate though, so PCs are still at the correct power level. 3. Gestalt is always awesome and, if you are only running it with 3 players, would definitely help with party survival, not to mention utility. 4. Again, not really. If you have difficulty figuring out how to run some of the monsters after reading their stat block tactics, just watch a horror movie that they were drawn from, so to speak. In some cases I actually changed the encounters to make them more terrifying to PCs. If you have difficulties coming up with ways to terrify PCs 5. About the same, really. Blasters play an important role no matter what AP they are in and the general spells that arcane casters get are never a bad thing in a campaign. ![]()
![]() Here is the race building rules on the SRD. THE DUNMER RULE ALL! DOWN WITH THE ALDMERI DOMINION! Can one of the PCs be part of the Dark Brotherhood? I would totally create a character if so! I absolutely love the Dark Brotherhood! I hope we can change the situation with that traitor and not have to, you know, murder the rest of the Sanctuary, assuming you allow the Dark Brotherhood anyway! ![]()
![]() To best simulate the Elder Scrolls games, it would be prudent to do the campaign as gestalt. This way, people could have the kind of builds that most people seem to enjoy in Elder Scrolls while still keeping things within the normal bounds of Pathfinder that people are comfortable and familiar with. I would suggest building custom races for PC use, however, using the race builder from the Advanced Race Guide. The conversion of racial abilities are relatively simple and I think EVERY option is included in the race builder that you would need. I can help you with the above if you would like, both creating the races and in helping you figure out gestalt. ![]()
![]() How many people would be interested in playing in The Harrowing, one of the absolute best modules Paizo has ever made? I personally love the module and out of the 18 reviews of the book, only 2 or 3 are below 5 stars, if that tells you anything about how great it is. ![]()
![]() Well since I've been online, I have seen a few groups get selected from here, and now see that plenty more have been crossed off as selected, so the thread has undoubtedly helped several people. Since Reign of Winter failed before I even got recruitment up, due to a few applicants refusing selection, I have been noodling a few ideas for campaigns. I am considering a few and will probably decide what I want to run in a few days. I will definitely be back here to try and pick up some players! :) ![]()

Again, I wasn't making it a racial issue, but over there, unless one is obviously of Arabic descent (And I'm 1/4 Armenian, if you know what that is,), they are targets. It was not my point to make it a racial issue, but since I was being dismissed on racial grounds earlier as not 'being the right color to understand', I felt it prudent to note that I have. Irontruth wrote: Interesting enough, non violence is statistically more likely to succeed. While violence can produce change, it's success rate is relatively low. You live up to your name, sir! If more people thought like you did, humanity would arguably be much better off than it is now. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT: Thank you for the welcome! :) ![]()
![]() Pink Dragon wrote: Are you trying to justify systemic discrimination and brutality by a American police force against persons of color by the discrimination and brutality of brown police against white people ten thousand miles away? If you would read what I was replying to, you would clearly see that I am not trying to justify anything. I was replying to a post inferring that the reason that I 'could not see the issue' was because I have never been discriminated against because of my race or some other factor. The fact that you think I am trying to make this a white vs. black shows what you are trying to prove, that anyone who disagrees with you must be a racist trying to couch their terms in sympathetic wordage. Am I wrong? Also, you are aware that the reigning ethnic groups over there are not black, right? Just saying. Pink Dragon wrote: And don't you think that the complete obliteration of two countries in the last decade (Iraq and Libya) by Europeans and North Americans, let alone the last few centuries of 'meddling' by said Europeans and North Americans in African and Middle Eastern affairs is going to cause just a little bit of anger from the people who live in the region? As opposed to the systemic discrimination and brutality of the indigenous people towards others, which was the very reason that Europeans even began their own discriminations and brutalities in the region in the first place? What about the conquest of Spain? The enslavement of pilgrims, and countless other travelers, to Jerusalem? Or is that part of the history to be ignored, simply so you can prove a point? EDIT: Read the first quoted portion of this post before you reply to the first sentence of the above paragraph. Context is important. Pink Dragon wrote: What we are seeing is a war of class, not race. It is cast as a race issue by the media (wholly owned by the rich) to deflect attention from what is really happening. But everyone that belongs to a social class cannot be generalized as good or bad, which is something that people don't seem to understand. Maybe in big cities it is different and all police are corrupt, but in my little corner of America, there is only one or two crooked cops on the whole squad, if even that, and they mainly are just overzealous writing speeding tickets. To say that every cop is bad is just as simplistic, and erroneous, as saying that every poor person is a thuggish drug addict, every homeless person is a bum, and every middle class person is a brain-dead worker drone for the system. Freehold DM wrote: I think you guys are taking this thread in the wrong direction... I will agree that it is being derailed. I simply made one statement and I have already had people try to tear apart what I said and make it something that it most clearly was not. If people would actually read what I said and stop making presumptions of 'oh, she disagreed, so she must be a privileged white woman who doesn't know what it's like to be discriminated against', which is precisely what it sounds like to me. I have done aid work, went to places to help people of all ethnic groups that many would not even give the time of day, paid for it dearly, and yet, people presume that, because I have a different way of looking at things than them, I'm one of 'those' people. ![]()
![]() He is deliberating at the moment. I messaged him and told him that I withdraw, since there is little way a Nightmare Lord Mournwrath Harbinger (Ravenlord)13/lots o' stuff who is the aspect of sorrow in the Nightmare World, living in the Fading Castle built open the shores of the Dying Seas of Nevermore, could hope to compete with these awesome characters! Happy gaming everyone! :) ![]()
![]() LazarX wrote: You can't see because I'll wager that you're probably not the right skin color, or whatever, to be at the wrong side of a prejudiced police force, or know someone personally who was. "Not the right skin color?" Implying that there is a wrong one? How telling of you. Let me ask you: do you know what being a female white European Christian aid worker in the Middle East is like? No? Well then, I suggest you read the rather graphic spoiler below and I'll tell you. I know very well what discrimination is, but I do not blame people who did not participate, unless they explicitly support those actions, not just passively have a 'meh' attitude about them. Somewhat graphic description:
A LOT of female white/European aid workers in the Middle East, particularly those who are Christian, face such things as rape gangs, random beatings in the street, public derision, and, in the case of one of my friends, being kidnapped and sold as a sex slave. The first three things I personally know are horrible experiences. I have never heard from my friend again, so I can only presume the last of those is even worse. And guess what? All of those things are considered legal, even if a J*#ya is paid. So tell me, LazarX, is that not discrimination? Or does that not count because I am not one of a particular group? If the latter, then what is the difference? Votre réponse? EDIT: Why is J!$ya distorted? It's not a curse word, as far as I know. J-i-z-y-a is the word, minus the -'s. EDIT 2: And just so we're clear, the first two out of those events in the spoiler were perpetrated by the equivalent of a police officer, while the third was pretty much done by police and civilian alike, and the fourth happened while an officer was standing RIGHT THERE. ![]()
![]() But if one cannot consider even such basic things like human decency as being universal, then what is the point of society? What is the point of laws? Why doesn't everyone just run around naked raping, killing, and cannibalizing everyone else? Because if there is no such thing as objective morality and that state of savage anarchy suddenly becomes the predominant schema, then what? I don't mean to presume overmuch about anyone's personal history, but it seems like those who have not suffered because of someone else's immoral actions in a major way prefer to say that morality is subjective. Every victim that I have ever seen believes that there IS a set morality. Why is that? Because a lack of that morality in the person that caused their pain. Such is not merely an emotional reaction, but a logical one. ![]()
![]() pauljathome wrote: If by "objective evil" you mean "universally or nearly universally accepted as evil" then there really isn't such a thing. There are cultures (historical and current) that accept what the vast majority of people reading this would consider to be rape, murder and pedophilia as not being evil. Then those societies are filled with sociopaths, are they not? Is that not one of the traits that allows people to ignore human suffering so they can do as they please? How can any SANE individual consider rape to be moral? How can someone who doesn't accept that someone else can? As a rape survivor, I find the entire notion appalling and inhuman. I personally think a society has gone down the proverbial drain when people can start making such claims. By saying that there is no set morality, then one can excuse anything, get away with anything. The only thing that could result from the logical extreme of that is absolute anarchy. I know people don't like to admit that they are wrong and they don't want to seem hypocritical calling someone else's ideology wrong, but the fact remains that some things are universally right and some things are universally wrong. And if a society supports things that are universally wrong, then they are wrong as well. It's really that simple. ![]()
![]() Ok, so the cards I drew were The Marriage, The Empty Throne, The Cricket, The Bear, The Rakshasa, The Tyrant, and The Feathered Serpent. The three cards drawn via The Cricket are The Waxworks, The Mountain Man, and The Unicorn. I have yet to decide on my favor via The Tyrant and my Wish via The Feathered Serpent. ![]()
![]() Ok, so I plan on playing a wild mage type character who is a Master of Umbra, so I can turn the relatively harmless effects of wild magic into horrifyingly deadly and whacky effects for my character's enemies! Cloud of butterflies? I'll spend a mythic point and make them FLAMING CARNIVOROUS BUTTERFLIES OF UNDEATH! ^_^ I have spoken with the GM and he will let me draw from the Harrow Deck of Many Things in exchange for 100,000 GP of my starting wealth. If I get bad rolls, who cares? All character's fates are determined by the dice and my character's is no different... he is just having to roll more! I will let everyone know the results of my rolls I send him via PM! ![]()
![]() I was thinking of a Fallout-esque campaign set on the remnants of Earth after a nuclear apocalypse wiped out most of humanity and reset civilization to a much more savage state. I am planning on the campaign taking place 200+ years after the apocalypse, where some semblance of civilization has sprouted back up after decades of barbarism. If you have every played Gamma World D20 or Broken Earth, I am fusing those settings together for the purposes of the campaign. There are 4 playable races: Human, Freak (Think Fallout Ghoul), Mutant, and Synthetic (Robot). There will be no classes utilizing magic allowed. For the purposes of this campaign, classes like Alchemist and Machinesmith will be reflavored as purely scientific-based. Characters will also choose a 'background class' which grant certain abilities as they level. Example backgrounds include Doctor, Engineer, Historian, Hunter, Mercenary, Scavenger, Survivalist, and Tribal. This is not your base class and is, essentially, just a set of abilities and skill points you gain as you level. There will be several factions in the game, much like Fallout New Vegas. Most of them, however, are not mutually exclusive. As far as weapons and such, it will run the gamut from the standard Fallout fair to things beyond even Paizo's Technology guide. Most areas were not super high tech like the latter, but a few cities were quite advanced. Interested? ![]()
![]() I will need a little bit of time to decide which idea to go with as far as campaigns go, but I hope I have something up by next week. What is the cause of high-powered burnouts, Tenro? I am curious why that is. Is it the GM getting annoyed with all the paperwork and glacial pace of combat? Is it the PCs who overoptimize? I am curious as to why. Thanks Tenro and Tsriel! ![]()
![]() 3.X was our thing too until it was canceled. We briefly drink the figurative Kool Aid and tried to like D&D 4.0. That failed miserably, then Pathfinder came out and we were super happy! :) By the way, does anyone know what sorts of campaigns do people generally get into on the boards? I had ideas for running a campaign or two but am unsure of what the other posters want! ![]()
![]() I am aware of that, Riuk! :P Still, if you're applying for an evil campaign, I suspect arguing morality is a little far down the list, no? :) I think the whole argument should be a non-issue, due to it being a fantasy game. It's still kind of fun to troll people about it, though I'm usually limiting it to the dudes at the comic book shop. 'Oh hey, you're a hardcore 1E guy? What does that alignment block say? SPEAK THE WORDS!!! Speak the words and kneel before the Guillotine Queen of Galt!' That title was fun in our 'taking over Galt' type campaign! Do you guys all know each other? It seems there is history with that dragon and you three! Shami, what's with the emoticon? I can't make out what it is! It vaguely resembles Kirby doing a dance move! <(-_-)> That's my Kirby 'come at me bro' emoticon I made a while back! ^_^ ![]()
![]() No, my baby is from the way down here in hickville! Like so far out in hickville that the average town is rough the size of just a few city blocks if that. This one town near us is basically a collection of buildings in a circle around town hall with a small bit of houses interspersed across a few miles. We had the misfortune of picking up the loval vernacular eccentricity of saying 'guys, man, and dude' a lot. It's weird, considering the fact that I am French and he has like over 180 I.Q., that we still assimilate the vernacular we never thought we would use? Language is freaky that way, is it not? Posting on the same laptop, btw. Anyone want me to sneak a peek at the current list of applicants? Cali is awesome, btw! I've always had some notion to move to LA or Silicon Valley. Why the latter? Tech nerd of course! ![]()
![]() ^That post^ Watch where you put that post on the internet! Some people get butthurt about how Orcs are written up and do the whole 'Orcs can choose to be what they want to be, blargh! Don't be a racist Nazi, blah, blah!'. I'm a Gygax/Tolkien loyalist, so people know my stance on it: Orcs and Red Dragons are 99% eat your baby, possibly as a side to roasted Halfling feet/1% sell your baby into slavery and use the gold for nefarious purposes.
Oh and I think people will like my character! Once I get her alias made anyway. Website was acting screwy earlier and stuff! I have done the improbable and made an EVIL DRUID!!! Totally didn't base her on Poison Ivy. :P
