Class based armor class

I'm giving this another hard look. I'm thinking it's a great idea.

Only thing is, I don't know what to do with armor. Do I use it as is, or as damage reduction.

What do you think about all this?

Fantasy Craft does this. Your class gives you a defense bonus, armor reduces that bonus but gives you DR.

Look in the old SRD for Defence Bonus and Armor as DR, which were lifted from Spy Craft 1.0 for Unearthed Arcana back in the day. It discusses both methods.
