I though about jumping right in, but now I am going to wait. Being a pioneer is nice, but having gone through a few MMO starts, I now prefer to wait a short while to see what happens.
With the XP backdating, I can now wait until at least the weekend, or maybe even later. I view it, also, as testing the system.
@"The Goodfellow" 50/50 no more than that ;) I knew where to go because I had seen the error when starting the download.

It is inevitable that happens here, and compensating people for time unable to play (in a method that does not cost the business money) keeps people happy.
Since your character will gain xp regardless, even for time the server is down, it's not as much of an issue. The subscription fee is to get the xp. So you aren't losing any money.
If for some reason the game is closed down for an extended period of time it would be favorable to offer players something as a "sorry" but xp won't be it.
