What are the Infinity Stones again, for those of us (yo!) who haven't read comic books.
Edit: Names and powers i mean.
The infinity gems are powerful items that separately have unique abilities. Now, the comic universe is obviously not the cinematic universe so for a lot of these gems there abilities are different from how they originally worked in the original comic universe.
That said, from what we've seen so far, the Blue gem (Space) was the Tesseract/Power Cube from the first Captain America movie and it can open blue space portals, which Loki used in his evil plot in the first Avengers film when he tried to take over the Earth with robot space whales. It was locked up in Asgard for safe keeping but given what happens in Thor 3 it might be somewhere else.
The Yellow gem (Mind) was originally Loki's mind control staff and it's currently in Vision's head. Scarlet Witch and Vision shippers should probably be afraid.
The Red gem (Reality) otherwise known as the Aether, was used by the dark elves in Thor 2 in another evil plot, this time trying to destroy the entire universe. It could suck the lifeforce out of people and create dark matter. No idea where it is now.
The Purple gem (Power) was thing the Guardians of the Galaxy and Ronan the Blue Space Meanie were fighting over in their first film. It could vaporize entire planets and it's being held by the Nova Corps on Xander for now.
The Green gem (Time) aka the Eye of Agamottowas was in the Doctor Strange film and it could stop and bend time. Doctor Strange still has it.
The Orange gem (Soul) hasn't shown up yet but in the comics it could manipulate the souls of dead people.
When all six are brought together and put in a fancy gauntlet the wielder becomes omnipotent and capable of anything they imagine. For instance, if a certain Purple Space Meanie got it he could kill every living thing in the universe to impress his girlfriend Death.
Hope that helped.

Blue: The trailer showed Loki holding it, so barring something more convoluted, he likely retrieved it from Asgard during/after the confusion/destruction.
Red: Given to the Collector for safekeeping at the end of Thor2, explicitly because they didn't think it wise to keep two stones in the same place.

Blue: D'oh! I must have been to busy crying tears of joy to notice that in the trailer. Wonder if Loki's going to... Wow I couldn't even finish that sentence and pretend it was a sincere question. Of course he's going to sell everyone out to Purplebeard.
Red: Right, right. I knew the Asgardians gave an extra stone to someone, but I couldn't remember who.

-Trailer was great imo, I love how smug and confident Thanos looks, you know the heroes are in for an extremely rough beatdown here.
-The soul gem can manipulate/suck/destroy the soul of every living being. In the comics it has been called the most powerful weapon in existance. In the MCU its whereabouts have not yet been revealed.
-At the end of Ragnarok it's pretty obvious Loki got the space stone (he's the one who revives Surtur and had no way to reach the ship before Surtur detonated Asgard yet he's on the ship... how? Wasy if you can teleport anywhere in the universe...)
-In the trailer Banner crashes through the Sanctum Sanctorum's window. He was previously in deep sapce with the Asgardians when Thanos' ship showed up. That tells me Loki sent him to earth to warn the heroes of Thanos coming.
-Thor on the other hand is shown to be in deep space, probably having been retrieved by the Guardians of the Galaxy. I suspect Loki of sending him there, far away from Thanos because Loki knew full well Thor would have tried to take on Thanos... and died in the process.
-Loki is shown kneeling and offering the space stone to someone. It's obviously Thanos (who, after all, was the one who sent him to conquer earth in the first Avengers' film and gave him the mind stone to accomplish the deed). WHat happens then it's anybody's guess but somehow I suspect Loki does not survive the encounter (although he may somehow have the last laugh... he's the god of mischief after all).

Thomas: I was thinking the same thing... and then thought back to how Wakanda rolls and suddenly it made a bit more sense.
Of course, it could also be said that Wakanda has Soul.
Hama: I think the reason Thanos looks a bit more reddish is due to the fact that he's in 'normal' lighting rather than his typical dark and dreary lighting, which could change the texture and light profile of his skin coloration, and he's also missing his helmet, too, which provides contrast.

Rogar Valertis |

I'm positive the Soul Gem/Stone is in Wakanda.
As for me, I'm not sure I'm "meh" so much as "Thanos shows up and there's not cities burning yet?!"
Wakanda & Soul Stone: Possible but not confirmed yet.
Cities burning: it's just the first trailer. But if you need to know

Thomas Seitz |

Rogar,
Okay if THAT occurs in the movie or even in a trailer, I will TOTALLY feel redeemed by Thanos being the main villain.
Wei,
Yeah I mean the fact he's not wearing his iconic helm might be one of the reason he looks...off on that scene.
Also it might not be confirmed but I'm willing to bet serious moula we'll see it some where in BP. (End credits maybe or mid-credits?)

Adam Warlock shows up at the end of GotG V2 (or at least his cocoon does) and he was heavily connected to the soul gem in the comics. Not sure how that will play out in the movies.
Warlock is usually the character who beats Thanos when Starlin writes them. He killed Thanos the first time turning him to stone. He took away the infinity gauntlet during the event bearing the same name. Surpriosingly enough Thanos and Warlock get along quite well in the comics despite being polar opposites (Thanos is the champion of death, Warlock is the champion of life, although everlasting life can lead to not so pleasant outcomes in the Marvel Multiverse - i.e. the cancerverse).
That said, I don't think the MCU has the chance to properly introduce Warlock now. He's not even really appeared in it yet, so no, Thanos won't have to face him, or at least not in the next 2 Avengers' films.

Gotta admit I’m gonna be pretty bummed if he doesn’t show up at all in Infinity War. I know the movies don’t follow the comics exactly but he was such a huge part of the story in the comics. Are they still doing Infinity War in two parts? There’s plenty of time to work him in with five hours of film.

The MCU is already bloated with characters to have everyone show up in one movie, adding new important good guys would be a bad idea in my opinion.

Cole Deschain |

And Thanos brings yet another army of cookie-cutter aliens to give the street-level heroes something to do...
Between the Chitauri, those schmucks who worked for Ronan, and now this new batch, one of these days the bad guys are going to have to hash out the fact that they'd be better off investing in quality than quantity...
EDIT: And that's just the aliens actively engaging our heroes, never mind Ultron's bot swarm, Hydra's goon cadres, Hela's undead Asgardians, Backlash's drone army...

GM Niles |

Quick question: How many(and which) Avengers do you think die in IF1 and IF2?
I've betting on losing IronMan, Cap, and at a minimum Hawkeye. I'm betting that Widow goes too, as does Hulk. Not all in the first one, but I'd like to see Thanos kill some Avengers, just to really put it to fans that yes this is the end of an era.

Cole Deschain |

What's wrong with that? It's always gratifying to watch heroes mow down scores of enemies.
Seventeen movies into a universe, it's really... not that gratifying anymore.
I'm ready for the Masters of Evil, or some other species of team of diverse villains capable of squaring off against a heroic lineup and giving as good as they get.
Sadly, thanks to a prevailing Dixie Cup approach to their bad guys, the MCU really isn't... the list of applicable villains in custody or at large is pretty dinky.

GM Niles |

@Thomas My money is on Spidey becoming an Avenger in Phase 2, with Miles Morales becoming like the minor league Spiderman to Parker's major league version.
Edit: At a minimum, either Cap or Iron Man (or both) are gonna eat it in this movie, and I'm expecting it early on in the film to really underscore how powerful Thanos really is, and how much of a threat he will be.

Cole Deschain |

Well it doesn't help that Fox is holding on to many of the FF villains that crossed over into Avengers territory.
Fox weren't the ones who killed off Crossbones, Killgrave, Vanko, Yellowjacket, and so forth.
(This is leaving out the "presumed dead but no corpse" guys like Ultron and the "wouldn't be more than a speedbump" sorts like Batroc)

Thomas Seitz,
I'm hoping that Peter Parker brings in the Young Avengers in his next film to help him out with the Sinister Six, which Homecoming already set-up. Get Miles, Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop, and anyone else who'd make sense to include.
Cole Deschain,
Yeah, I'm really not all that annoyed that Marvel has killed off most of their villains. With the exception of Killgrave none of theguys on your list were really that compelling in my opinion. Best to move on and try again with another bad guy.

Oh were getting the black order too? Nice. I actually think the cards might be stacked to high against the heroes.
Rosgakori wrote:Evacuate the city.

And get this man a shield.
During this bit of dialogue we actually catch a glimpse of Proxima Midnight.
And that’s got to be one of the Black Order atop the Vision linking with his gem, Corvus Glaive if I were to have to guess.
We also see Ebony Maw walking over some of the fallen, so it looks like his mission at is a success.

Rogar Valertis wrote:Cities burning: it's just the first trailer. But if you need to know ** spoiler omitted **A whole planet. There is literally no way to survive that. It's like the GM saying "rocks fall, everybody dies, no saving throw." So, Dr. Strange rewinds time again?
I don't really see that in the leaked trailer, though the copy I found wasn't very good. He's doing something with the Gauntlet, but I can't see a moon, much less a planet. Maybe a meteor if he's actually pulling anything down from space at all.

People keep talking about "Parts I and II" but didn't they ditch that idea awhile back? Last I heard it's just "Avengers: Infinity War" with "Avengers 4: To Be Subtitled Later" coming after that, unless they've said something to indicate Avengers 4 really is just Infinity War Part 2.
Yeah, that’s why I was asking earlier. I thought I had heard something similar. If it’s a two part movie, presumably a couple of years and other movies apart, then there is plenty of time to introduce Adam Warlock and have him show up in part 2. (No, I won’t leave it alone. I want Adam Warlock, damn it!)

Since Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers will be in Avengers 4, I want Iron Man to survive to the end and retire (allowing Rhodey to take over) to mentor a young Stark Intern, RiRi Williams. Then, after the credits, Danvers can have a weird dream (after eating too much shawarma) about Iron Man, Mar-Vell, Doctor Strange, and Everett Ross playing Clue/Cluedo... and all being really terrible at it.

There's a reason why the second movie is untitled and will probably remain untitled until Infinity War's release. It's been said in a few interviews that the title is actually a huge spoiler so Marvel is keeping it under wraps. My feeling is being that Infinity War and the yet untitled Avengers 4 are being released a year apart? Avengers 4 is probably a direct continuation of whatever events occur in Infinity War.

Cole,
My bet: Peter Parker dies heroically to save the Earth in IF1 and Miles Morales shows up.
There is ZERO chance of that happening.
One, because this new Peter Parker / Spiderman is brand new and there’s no way they kill him so soon. Plus, Tom Holland is extremely popular - probably the best Peter Parker / Spiderman we’ve seen onscreen ever.
Two, they’ve already annonced that the Spiderman sequel with Tom Holland comes out after the first Infinity War move (it kicks of Phase 4)

Cole,
This is true. They have killed off a few too many. Though honestly I'm glad they killed off Malekith.
Also Kilgrave MIGHT come back. I mean he's got special genes after all.
Honestly? There are plenty of villains and not a lot of movies, really. It's not like comics where they're going to need villains monthly for decades.
I mean, I don't have anything against them beating villains without killing them, but they don't need to bring them back regularly either.Even if they'd left Killgrave alive (hard to do), you wouldn't want to bring him back and retread it in the next Jessica Jones storyline. You'd want her to get some changes and a few more adventures under her belt first. (Like coincidentally, they've just done in the Jessica Jones comic.)

![]() |

Eh. Maybe it kicks off that but there's no reason to assume the sequel might not be like a kind of skip between what happens in Homecoming and then Infinity War.
I'm not saying I'm right, but I feel...strongly it might happen.
Sorry, but the’ve been pretty clear that they are sticking with Tom Holland’s Peter / Spiderman for the foreseeable future and that there are no plans to bring in Morales any time soon.
They’ve also said that the next Spiderman film happens directly after Infinity War (no jump forward in time) and Peter dealing with the fallout from Infinity War is a major component
Heck, I they signed Holland for a six-picture deal, which doesn’t even include his Captain America: Civil War appearance!
