In Scenario 4 of Plunder & Peril, my ship is anchored at the harbor. But if I go to the Shipwreck Graveyard, a strict reading of the rules is that my ship takes structural damage. What does that mean?
Can my ship really take structural damage from things I do, if I'm not at the same location my ship is?

Yes it will still take that damage. Unless a card specifies that something only happens if you are or are not on a ship, it won't matter where the ship is. For the same reason, the Sea Drake monster will still deal 1 structural damage after you act no matter where you are, the Bucket Brigade barrier will still deal 1 structural damage if you end your turn at its location while it is face-up, and the Raker Shoals location will always deal 1 structural damage when you start there --- even when you are not on your ship.
All that in mind, though, Jirelle can also reduce structural damage by 1 with her power whether she is on the ship or not. With the Pirate Queen role, she can reduce it by 2.

I don't see anywhere in the rules that state that if your ship is anchored at a location and you are not at that location, any card you encounter does not deal its structural damage. So I think Andrew is correct even though I'd love to hear something official about that. I think it's the same with the idea that anyone can discard cards to save the ship from imminent structural damage, even if they aren't on the ship.

If we cared if Jirelle were *on* the ship, we would have said "When you are on a ship, reduce Structural damage to it by 1."
And "Reduce structural damage by 1" isn't quite good enough because we want to leave the door open to the possibility that there may be opportunities to have structural damage dealt to a ship that isn't yours. (We didn't do that in S&S, but that doesn't mean it can't happen in OP...)
Same thing applies here. If they cared if you were on the ship, they would have said that "when you are on a ship" you take the structural damage.

If they wanted to restrict how structural damage was incurred, they would have restricted how to reduce structural damage as well. Which is why Jirelle is worded the way she is. (Which came in handy on Sunday!)

something official (from a few weeks ago)
