Just a quick heads-up, not accusational or anything, but "skraeling" is actually a real world racial slur. It's really unfortunate that it found its way in the campaign setting and slipped into casual use. It's so archaic most people don't know how ugly the connotations behind it really are.

Well since Paizo hasn't named the Arcadian natives, people can only use the terms readily available. Intent matters.

hopes to see a reduction in Golarion/Earth parallels in future products

And here I was only familiar with the term as used for some undead monster things in a book I read once.

It was unfortunate that we used it back in the Campaign Setting book and it found its way into the Inner Sea World Guide. However, going forward it will be phased out.

Arcadian is somewhat a blanket term for all the people living on that continent, and there are many different peoples under that umbrella.

I'd still like to see something really dragon-centric, see something that takes place largely underwater and another 'Underdark'-style campaign though not necessarily one featuring Drow. A time-travelling AP would also be amazing.

Still plenty of places to explore in Golarion, no need to go into outer space or anything crazy like that.

Oh I know its a real world term, its what vikings called the first native Americans they found. I learned that way back in elementary school.

Ive never heard it having negative conotations before.Heck I cant even find it having Neagative conotations now with a quick search. I thought it was derivative of the old norse for yell or Small.

I always had it in my head canon that the Skraelings the Ulfen fought when they first arrived were exiled criminals/feral and not a reflection of the great undiscovered (at least by the inner sea) Civilizations. I was going for a homage to that Karl Urban movie where hes aViking raised by Native Americans it even called Pathfinder for Cayden's sake!

But thanks for being polite Mikaze.

Chalk up another vote for a dragon-centric AP. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we still haven't had a Dragon BBEG, which is a crying shame.

That's what I like to hear! I want to see many different wonderful cultures, from plainsrunners to puebloes to longhouses to mound builders to aztecs to jungle tribes. Can't wait to find out more, whenever it comes!!!

Where is it a racial slur? It certainly wasn't when it was in use to describe native peoples. Today it has some negative connotations in a few languages but lots of words have different meanings in different languages.

I mean, I'd rather in Pathfinder we use a native american name like Awenik (Unami word for people)than the Norse one anyway.

in norse it means weakling to put it nicely, i agree it needs to go

I'm not married to the term, though I'm not exactly offended either.

I've always said Arcadians honestly.

But hey - we've got Robo-Gods!

Maybe they should do a 'transformer' themed AP next, or one where the PC's go on a five year mission to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations...

I actually wouldn't mind Pathfinder Spelljammer at all.

1) Return to Sandpoint for another round of Runelords. Maybe with Sorshen and a vampire-themed campaign, or Belimarus, the Temple of Desna's First Dream, and the dimension of dreams.

2) Arcadian slave trade liberators. You could play privateers or Andoran agents that find a ship full of Arcadian leaders, then return them to their homes, becoming a hero in their eyes, and drawing the attention of a jealous and powerful being on the continent.

3) An Aroden campaign that reveals the big secret (or hints at it), but leaves an even bigger one in its place.

4) Eyeless Krakens on Kortos. Perhaps another emerges and you have to track down the source. Could be the start to an underwater campaign.

With all of the allusions that have been made to Sorshein's current/final resting place and her 'status' as Mythic, one figures that A) they definitely have the intention to visit her again at some point in the future and B) it may well be for the next Mythic AP they do, if they ever do one again.

I seriously and wholeheartedly approve your suggestions. It's great to see you make the journey from "grumpy traditionalist who got robots in his unicorns" to a full-on science-fantasy fan! ;-)

This is a really good idea. I've been working on a planet hopping adventure for awhile now, especially with the Technology Guide out and about.

Liberty's Edge

I think an AP could really manage to capture the Trek "feel", with six relatively self-contained adventures on separate planets, meeting separate civilizations, and solving a problem on each planet.

As long as Castrovel isn't involved, I would pay many dollars for such an AP.

But... I like Castrovel...

It's not so much the planet, but its inhabitants. The lashunta are just offensive to me for some unexplainable reason. It's a knee-jerk thing, I know, but I can't get around it.

robots in his unicorns" ;-)

I wonder what the results would be if you did a google search on this phrase;-)

I'd love to see the Dawnflower Heresy as an intrigue, diplomatic, and potential "war of empires" AP.

I think a Galt AP would be a TERRIBLE idea. Paizo, DEFINITELY don't do this! *Wink wink*

Beyond those specific ideas, I'd love to see a truly Tian Xia based AP and something in Vudra, mostly because the potential mythology and lore for those locations are so rich and so lightly tapped so far by Pathfinder.

I would kill for an entire 6 part AP on Castrovel, especially now that we will be getting psychic magic rules next year.

Adapting some calls for an Arcadian AP where you begin in Arcadia or as Arcadians....

Do something similar with Southern Garund; Holomog and all that.

Add my vote for a Spelljammer-like AP, although the logistics would certainly be tricky at least for the first part.

And add my vote for a PlaneScape-like AP. Even though the Paizo Outer Planes are less numerous and fine-grained than those of D&D up through 3rd Edition, they still have the kernel of some really good (and evil) stuff.

Try as I might, I can't read "Holomog" without first saying "Homologue" in my head. However, an AP set there might change that!

Let's get the Mordant spire, Hermea, Jalmeray, and Ilizamagorti involved in some way!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

In all seriousness tho what i'd like to see, not in any order
1) something inolving Galt and the Derro
2) Distant Worlds, ideally starting with an alien invasion of some sort
3) tian xia wauxia
4) dudemeister's idea of 10,000 leagues under the sea
5) Occult Adventures romp thru lovecraft, a return to Earth is a must for this (as well as a return of Brandon Hodges, whom we miss very much)

Top 4:

Vudra
Arcadia
Telling more about the Peacock Spirit
More Lovecraftian horrors!

Sovereign Court

Whatever the theme how about some more Kingmaker and/or sandboxes please?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Expedition to Arcadia would be my favorite.
This could be made a sandbox much like Kingmaker.
First exploration, than settling an colony.
And more.
Other parties trying to establish colonies.
Some of them trying to destroy yours.
And there would be also enemies from Arcadia itself.

Establishing a trading outpost (the Dutch were extremely dependent on Native Americans not only for food trades but also for beaver pelts which were their main export) or even just a small settlement free from religious/political persecution is hardly an evil us vs them thing.

It turned out that way eventually in the real world, but there were a LOT of contributing factors, mostly disease, which is why most everywhere else it was attempted (Africa, India, Philippines)the indigenous people are still around in large numbers.

Now I see an Arcadian AP as a follow up to the Hell's Rebels... Failed.

The plot revolves around a group of Cheliaxian rebels that fled the persecution after a failed rebellion and now try to establish Free Cheliax state in Arcadia. The story would revolve around exploring area that is poorly settled, befriend nearby tribes, build the infrastructure necessary to the settlement's survival, clear the area of local familiar exotic monsters (Arcadian natives hunting owlbears for their feathers/beaks/hides as a rite of passage of experienced warriors/hunters?), ally with the native tribes to repel Cheliaxian punitive/invasion expeditionary force, discover that the area was poorly settled because of the nearby tribe of Old Ones-worshipping murlocks sahuagin/skum, and finally defend the settlement against a spawn of the Old Ones (or maybe abolethic overlords taking place of Old Ones/spawn).

Of course there could be alternate option for not-so-good parties that represent scions of deposed regime after the Hell's Rebels succeed.

Oh yeah, that's a good hook. There's been a lot of talk about how we don't want to displace the natives, and the colony area being unsettled by natives *because only crazy people would go there* is a perfect explanation. Essentially as the AP progresses we gradually find out that we decided to settle Chernobyl. Thumbs up.

I've made my players cry. Not their characters, but the players. Do you really want me to write part of an AP?

*cackle* >:D

I've actually never written a published module, let alone an AP. I'm certainly up to that challenge at some point in the future, absolutely, but on some level I question how my own playstyle would translate to that needed for an AP. I'd need to seriously work on pacing, encounter design, etc for it to not cause madness, bleeding walls, and the distant echoes of screaming baby animals at the Paizo offices; something like that. ;)

My number one vote is for a First World AP. However, it can connect to the Shadow Plane, as I imagine that any First World AP would have the missing, but still alive Count Renalc as a main plot point. I absolutley love the fey, and it opens up all kinds of craziness and Alice in Wonderland type of moments for us.

Number two would probably be for an Aboleth themed AP. Since we dont get mind flayers in pathfinder, aboleths are our only eldritch abomination race of evil masterminds to work with. That and their role in Golarion's history is a very big one. Anything involving the eyeless krakens of Kortos could be easily tied into this I imagine.

Number three, my vote would be for a political intrigue one set in either Galt or Brevoy.

Number four, anything exploring Casmaron.

I don't feel like writing modules/APs for eventual publication either. I feel a sense of disconnection between the way I GM and published modules I have perused up to date. That's why I stopped participating in SuperStar, instead focusing on non-module designs for publications.
