Ok
So Im pretty negative at the disappointment that APs have been for me in the last 3 years and in 2 weeks time we stop playing them for a long while
So on a positive note what six parts would you put together to make the bestest AP ever heck your links between random mods will likely be better than the real ones......darn....supposed to be positive
Well, you can even use half mods if one bit was excellent (JR 4 part A) but the rest suxxored (JR 4 part B)
Will put mine later....really cant think of a part 3 I admired

I really cannot share this experience.
Having played through Jade Regent, parts of Carrion Crown, Skull & Shackles, Rise of the Runelords and now playing Kingmaker (in a slightly different setting, we put it into a desert world, a mix between Al-Quadim and Dark Sun), i think the stories and links are pretty good.
Some books surely are perceived weaker than others.
With my experience now i would say AP´s depend on some things in general though:
-Your GM. How good that person is at running games and telling stories. The reading ability is also very important, since many things are said in small sentences only and if one fails to communicate them somehow, that´s bad. Other things the players are supposed to find out somehow, but sometimes fail. Noting this and bringing it in sometime later, even as a surprise, is quite important. Also, do you know how many things your GM changed or left out or added in?
-How do you play? Is it more hack and slash? Do you get clues and investigate them?

While I also cannot agree with the OP's sentiment, I'll contribute to this thread for fun. I will use only modules which I ran as GM.
Best part 1: Souls for Smuggler's Shiv (Serpent's Skull), really good introductory adventure.
Best part 2: Seven Days to the Grave (Curse of the Crimson Throne), one of the all-time classics.
Best part 3: The Varnhold Vanishing (Kingmaker), actually one of the better Kingmaker mods.
Best part 4: Beyond the Doomsday Doors (Shattered Star), a great and atmospheric dungeon crawl.
Best part 5: Tide of Honor (Jade Regent), lots of cool stuff to do in Minkai!
Best part 6: The Final Wish (Legacy of Fire), which was a lot of fun for my players.

Having had a think VV makes a good part 3.....the adventure was very fine, just remote to the plot KM was by far my fave AP
So
Part 1: Brinewall Legacy....some clue to go to Magnimar
Part 2: something urban in Magnimar leading to Curse Ladys Light OR some kingdom building....clue to lord Varn
Part 3: Varnhold vanishing..find something in the tomb
Part 4...still cant decide..maybe part 1 of Forest of Tears then part 2 of something else
Part 5...Tide of Honor, maybe mixed in with Irrovetti who has been my fave NPC
Part 6...only done 3, and didn't really like first half of any....maybe 1000 voices....cant think how to end my Super 6
As I sad, not been a great fan of APs so challenge to answer my own Thread!!!

Yeah. I have to go with RoW: Rasputin Must Die for the #5 slot.
For the #2 slot? RotRL: The Skinsaw Murders.
And the #1 slot? WotR: The Worldwound Incursion, especially if you don't have Irabeth and the Mongrelmen accompany the party into the Grey Garrison.
(For that matter, while it's also RoW, I'd say #6 should be The Witchqueen's Revenge, as there are some truly fascinating elements building on the background of Baba Yaga in there... and I like the fact the heroes are stuck either releasing Baba Yaga, or letting their world die because of Elvanna's manipulations. Sometimes the heroic course of action means that there is no true victor involved.)

Seven Days to the Grave gets my vote for the best Book 2 I've read out of the lot. Not only did it have some great character, but the horror legitimately freaked out my players in a lot of parts, which is something it takes a good piece of writing to do.
That said, I'd be more interested in 6 books of real horror, not the campy monster movies that Carrion Crown ended up being.
