Just Give Pounce to Everyone?

Homebrew and House Rules

From what I've seen, Pathfinder encourages martial types to go ranged. Melee martial types don't seem able to compete on real (as opposed to theoretical) DPR -- in large part because of maneuverability issues.

What would happen if we just gave the Pounce ability to everyone?

The opposite happens. Ranged will only be used in circumstances where melee attacks can't be used.

Pounce would be too much, but I think more then 5ft is desperately needed by martials to keep up with archers.

As is, an Archer can full attack from one spot without every risking drawing on opp unless he gets rushed.

I've toyed with the idea of allowing martials to move an extra 5' and full attack per iterative attack. So at 6th level you could move 10', 11th 15', 16th 20'. I know it won't fix everything, but still curious to see how it works out.

I'm with Doggan. Either that or only melee can move their movement in a full attack, not a double move and attack throughout. At higher levels action economy just kills melee, everyone else gets more - melee is stuck with less.

That just penalizes TWF classes (as if TWF needed to suck even less) especially 3/4 BAB ones that get fewer iteratives.

I would say half your move speed is fair - and maybe allow up to one full move at high level

Full attack as a standard action.

it worked for 1st and 2nd edition that is with no minus on each attack roll, and creatures had a whole lot less ac and hp back then. now we have no full attack and -5 to each attack roll and creatures have better ac and more hp.

5th Edition seems to have pounce as basic stuff. Move anything within your movement and attack. Move 10 feet attack move 15 feet attack at 6th level.

There's a trade off between melee and ranged that many don't see. Melee has much greater utility for a party than ranged. If you're a ranged attacker, you deal damage and nothing else. If you're melee, you provide area control and pressure on certain foes.

i do agree with the notion of introducing more mobility options. I honestly worked on a houserule that TWF feat lets you perform an attack like Vital Strike except the bonus damage dice comes from your off hand.

Replace this portion of the full-attack rule...

The only movement you can take during a full attack is a 5-foot step. You may take the step before, after, or between your attacks.

With this one...
While using the full-attack action can move a limited distance before, after, or between your attacks. You can move 5 feet per attack granted by you base attack bonus. This movement can not exceed the distance you can move with a single move action. Movement of this kind prevents you from taking a 5-foot step action. If you do not use this movement you can use the 5-foot step action before, after, or between your attacks.

What? How does that penalize TWF classes? I mean, yeah, 3/4 BAB classes don't get it at the same time as the full BAB classes. But aside from Rogue and Monk all of the 3/4 BAB classes have tools (spells mainly) that make up for it.

What I outlined just means that you get another 5' of move the same level that you get another iterative attack. TWF has no bearing on that at all.
