Pathfinder,

Reports are just starting to come in from our expedition to Jormurdun. I am pleased to hear that the march from our base camp fared well, and I understand that several of our less reputable enemies were spotted on the field of battle. I trust that you or one of our other fine agents took advantage of the opportunity and laid one or both of the villains to rest. If not, then we'll need to keep our eyes sharp and our blades sharper.

It sounds as though our agents found something quite spectacular in the sky citadel, but I've yet to get a straight answer out of the Master of Scrolls as to what that is. It sounds complicated and may require further study, and if that calls for more travel, you're one of the first agents I'll contact. I imagine you would enjoy that more than reviewing these contracts we drew up with the Five Kings Mountains to make sure the transfer of power in Jormurdun goes smoothly.

In the meantime, we have a situation in Nantambu, one of the few lodges in the Mwangi Expanse. Venture-Captain Nieford Sharrowsmith has bitten off more than he can chew and has requested reinforcements, though he's been nearly impossible to locate magically since then. I don't like it, but we need to confirm that the lodge and its agents remain in good working order. It's virtually our only base in that wilderness, and I don't want it to go the way of Kalabuto.

The Pathfinder Society Organized Play campaign begins the Year of the Sky Key, its sixth season of Pathfinder RPG adventures. Keep the words of Ambrus Valsin in mind, and be on the lookout for opportunities to help the Grand Lodge succeed in its objectives. When the time comes, endeavor to participate in Pathfinder Society Scenario #6-03: The Technic Siege.

Grand Lodge

OOooh, Nantambu? That's where the Magaambya is; I've always wanted to visit that place!

Grand Lodge

I wouldn't mind reviewing contracts, but I suppose finding a lodge won't be too bad, so long as I don't have to talk at length with anyone.

Grand Lodge

Ahhhh.... more travel. I know I should have invest in long term travel insurance years ago.

Scarab Sages

Hmmm.. I might be convinced to come cuddle the diverse and wonderful creatures of the mawangi expanse...

Grand Lodge

Wreck go help.

Grand Lodge

Ah, finally, I've dug up some reports a few years ago on a couple of artifacts of dwarven origins that might have been lost in that area. Torag willing, we might even stumble upon them.

Grand Lodge

I have been told reports of what exactly kind of mess the Society has gotten itself into in the Expanse. And if it involves the oppressors of my homeland, you can guarantee that I will be there.

Even if I have to suffer the Mwangi's treacherous interior.

Grand Lodge

"Though I have only recently joined the Pathfinder Society, I look forward to traveling to the Mwangi expanse and perhaps meeting one of the Maagaambyan Arcanists in the area, as I've heard they have found interesting ways to use their druidic connections to nature to bolster arcane magic."

Grand Lodge

Well, Master Venture Captain, whatever tasks you set before us, I reckon it's highly unlikely that my fellow Pathfinders will stop hurting themselves in the line of duty. I'd better go with them, and make sure they don't come to a bad end. I hear there are some beasties with awfully big teeth in the Mwangi Expanse . . .

I know.. aren't they adorable!? You just have to know where to bellyrub them. Sometimes they'll even follow you for a little bit and eat some of the aspis for you. Just remember its not fair to them to take them out of their native environment.

Well, if you can keep 'em from biting your friends in the first place, that's the best medicine!

Another way to put it. After all, I have heard tales of creatures in the depths of the Expanse that makes me question if the steel demons of my Numeria are the most terrifying thing to blight this world. So, yes, I would enjoy myself...cutting down said creatures with my ax, of course.

Dear Venture-Captain Valsin,

Thank you for the update on the goings-on up north. As you know, I have been preparing a briefing for our agents on the history of the Sky Citadels, and Jormurdun in particular; I expect this brief to be ready for presentation to my own Lodge in the middle of Rova, and from there made available to other agents as you deem fit. Frankly, I am concerned less with the threats of the Mwangi or the mysteries of the sky key, and more with the instability which seems to have hit our Society from within.

Far be it for me to presume to know the minds of the Ten, but frankly I am astonished that Paracountess Dralneen was allowed a position of such prominence, given her recent doings during the Fifth Crusade. I can only imagine that there is a reason for allowing one of the least-loyal individuals access to the dark archives, but I confess it makes me uneasy to say the least. The criminal elements within the Society also continue to grow, shrugging off even their nominal national affiliations. Truly, Loyalist agents will need to take great care in ensuring the goals of the Society are carried out within interference from within.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to aid you in managing these multiple issues.

Your servant,

Thaddeus Lamplighter

Grand Lodge

Venture-Captain Valsin,

I will get straight to the point as I am a direct man. Your news of the Mwangi expanse is troubling. You will need experienced agents, I am sure. Although I am Andoran by birth, my first loyalty has always been to the Society. Even though certain entanglements have kept me tied to my homeland, recent events have allowed me the opportunity to slip the last of those entanglements. Please feel free to call upon my services as needed.

Roland Cross,
Pathfinder Society Field Agent and Delver Specialist.

P.S. Although I intercepted your letter in transit, rest assured it will ultimately reach its intended recipient.

Grand Lodge

A "letter" arrives addressed to the Ventrue Captain Valsin, it's scrawled in Hallit, instead of a signature there's a pictogram of a bear.

Master,

I am ready to smite foes for you.

I'll eat my hat if the animals are any sort of friendly, sir.

Grand Lodge

The animals are unfriendly, the plants are poisonous, and the weather is oppressive. Too hot, too humid, and too wet. There is a huge difference between tropical jungle and lush temperate forests.

Don't get me started on the disease bearing insects. I'd rather stay up north with the mammoths.

Its ma'm!"

hands Perrin a jar of mustard

They're perfectly friendly. The problem is you tromp in there like you own the place and THEY"RE the intruder, and they don't like that. Try telling them you're sorry, you mean them no harm and bringing them a gift wouldn't hurt either.

-Elenonnen

"M'am, may I remind you of a few things? First, not all pathfinders are druids or rangers, and thus aren't privy to easier means of communication with animals. Second, Pathfinders typically have the bad reputation of being murder-hobos. Obviously this isn't the case for a number of us, but it still stands that there are some of us who would rather strike down anything not willing to immediately initiate conversation, most creatures and animals included."

-Mince

"Heh, yeah, you silly humanoids and your tromping about the place like you own it or something. But Elen does make a point, it's not exactly easy to communicate with animals and monsters, and I'd know, you know, being a Raven and all."

-Elenonnen

"Regardless, it's interesting to see that the Grand Lodge will be striving to make its presence more significant in the Mwangi Expanse. I wish you luck and remind you that the rest of us are completely willing to lend a hand in helping out."

Scarab Sages

If our reputation is so bad that the dinosaurs are reacting to seeing a wayfinder by going "AHHH! Its a murderhobo! Get it before it gets us!" perhaps that's all the more reason to work on our behavior in the woods.

Even if you can't be bothered to learn the proper way to introduce yourselves, leaving some food on the ground, or something with a strong smell as a distraction and walking away slowly can work. Its amazing that pathfinders will spend so much gold on a healing potion to fix being gored, but won't spend 2 copper for a melon that could have prevented it in the first place.

How often have you seen your humanoid companions just kill something without a second thought just because it didn't walk on two legs and have bare skin?

-Mince

The Raven makes his best impression of someone shrugging.

"Beyond helping Elen understand the intricacies of the arcane, we've only had one mission on behalf of the Pathfinders. The only non-humanoid we encountered was a really large talking wolf. Kinda odd, but we received helpful information from her about the whereabouts of a goblin hideout (these goblins had been attacking caravans going through a forest, so that was helpful). Beyond that, the only things we were forced to slay were undead and goblinoids." Mince pauses to think for a few seconds, then resumes, "What I know about Pathfinders and their tendencies has come from speaking with other familiars (typically other ravens, thrushes, and stronger familiars). But to be honest, Elen, you didn't make much sense about saying Pathfinders have a reputation of being murder-hobos, most animals and magical beasts don't have the forethought about that, and mostly act on instinct. But a large number of these creatures are in fact carnivores, so typically they have a habit of attacking first out of predatory instinct. The herbivores are more apt to attack out of territorial reasons, or self-defense. It's all dependent..."

-Elen

"Uh, thanks Mince. Trust me when I say that I prefer to avoid conflict (soft squishy spellcaster and all...), and respect nature and it's inhabitants. However, this isn't always an option, and hope that you can see that."

Scarab Sages

Oh! a warg. They can be uhmmm a little grumpy, but are definitely a LOT nicer on a full belly. They're all lords of their own area, and expect you to treat them as such. If you sweet talk them a little and give them some meat they'll usually leave you alone." she sniffs "See? 'only goblinoids!' How can any living thing be 'only'? We have some goblin pathfinders you know, they're not ALL bad, they can be trained.. well.. at least housebroken.. usually...

Oh dear, this isn't good..... And bugs?! I... I don't think I'll enjoy this all that much, but whatever to help the society, I'll try my best.

Ah, I do try to keep my wayfinder concealed most o' the time. Too bad most people feel that way about me even before I show it to them. There's a good reason I wear Hellknight armor and carry me big sword all the time. The last time I didn't have 'em...Well, how was I to know there was a rhinoceros in the crate?
