Although I should be saying Hangover Sunday.
Had a few beers last night while watching two of the movies in the ZAZ collection. At least, I guess 1 & 1/2 counts as a few. Since I don't drink nearly as much as I used to (maybe once a month, and that only recently), it hits me a lot harder than it used to.
They did not have the turkey breast tenderloins I like at HEB the other day. What they did have was called a "split turkey breast". I was leery, but figured "what the hell". I only bought one pack, though, since I don't know how it will turn out.
I hope this doesn't mean the store is done with the tenderloins. I really liked those.
Otherwise, yesterday was pretty typical. I did engage in the losing battle of cleaning up some of the damnable pollen covering my walkway and driveway. It was messy again in about an hour.
Stoopid pollen.
Anyway, short and sweet this morning. My head hurts, and I've got other stuff to get done.
Plus the computer makes this weird humming noise (which I'm somewhat sure is NOT a fan) and it bugs the crap out of me.
Hopefully, anyway. Things seem to be starting off rather well. I got up and moving without too many issues. And the drive to work was pretty good. And should be getting books delivered today. Let's hope this good fortune continues.
Of course, there are possibly some people who would not wish for me to have such good fortune. Or any good fortune for that matter. And perhaps some of them are around these parts.
Enough gloom and doom! Let's see if we can't be more positive!
I am looking forward to the end of the week. My coworkers and I will be visiting a pipe mill. True, I'll have to come into the office. And that will disrupt what's become part of my normal Friday routine. Still, it should be an interesting experience.
We did not give the dog a bath yesterday. Circumstances necessitated it be put off until next weekend.
Walked into the kitchen this morning and there was a cup full of coffee sitting at one of the Keurig machines. It was cold, so I figured someone had made the coffee, then walked away and forgot about it.
I'm excited for my book delivery today. Two of the Marvel Conan omnibuses and a book on HDD. Huzzah!
Hopefully. I had a decent drive in, and the weather is nice.
On the other hand, we have an issue with one of the projects here at work. It's primarily due to the civil engineer, but I'm pretty sure at least one or two folk are hoping to blame me somehow. Granted, I did mess up a bit, in as much as I didn't specifically call out that one point in the model was underground. So the civil took some data from that point and put it in a drawing. In my defense, however, I also didn't call that point out as one of the support locations, because it isn't.
Anyway, I've also got to run a few more calcs regarding that particular issue today. To see if we can't tighten up the civil design a bit by eliminating a pipe support.
On another positive note, however, I got my shipment from Amazon yesterday evening. It was funny, because I randomly decided to look out the front door right as the Amazon delivery driver was walking up to the house.
So now I have my two new Marvel Conan omnibuses and a new (to me) book on Horizontal Directional Drilling.
The HDD book is one I'm particularly excited about. It doesn't just have information about the stress analysis and pull force calculations. It also has information on all the different equipment used (drill rigs, drill heads, etc), equipment layouts, bid documentation, permitting requirements, etc.
So it's really an all-encompassing book. Even better, the website we use for our HDD calculations uses this book as one of their main references. It's the reason I bought it to begin with.

Just for the hell of it, I started watching the first season of Reacher last night. It's the best of all three seasons, I think. Good story. Great characters.
We'll see.
Yesterday was super busy and frustrating at work. Then it got a little better at the scout meeting when I did three Boards of Review. That was followed up by a final bit of annoyance when we got home from the meeting only run back over to the church where the boy had left his phone. Finally, I slept poorly.
This morning, I got going pretty smoothly. Also had a decent drive in to work. If things go well in the office, that'd be nice.
My main problem, of course, being that I'm full of doubt (both self and of others). Kind of make Doubting Thomas look like and amateur. It's getting to the point where I answer questions like an elf in LotR: I'll end up saying both 'yes' and 'no'.
I was a saddened to hear of Val Kilmer's death. I liked him as an actor, though I've heard he could be a kind of douche on set. Still, he had plenty of great roles over the years. In fact, just this past weekend I introduced the boy to his first film role - Nick Rivers in Top Secret.
Before the scout meeting last night, we had a meeting about the upcoming summer Northern Tier visit. I've got to step up the boy's workout regimen and buy a whole bunch more gear.
Although, I might talk to my brother and see if he has a really compact sleeping bag the boy could borrow.
Hopefully. Yesterday ended on an amicable note between me and the universe. So that already puts today off to a good start.
Although, I was woken up 5 minutes early by the dog barking her head off at the front door. There was a car out front that was pulling off by the time I got there. Turns out they were delivering some dog food.
Oh, the irony.
The drive to the office was....adequate. I caught two of those really annoying lights they've put in at the entrances to subdivisions (except mine, of course). That was made up by me making several lights I normally catch, then being first in line at the really annoying light just up from the interstate. The rest was pretty decent, and somewhat well-timed.
One other minor annoyance....All this pollen in the air has had me blowing my nose more than usual. So then I get a minor infection in the tip of the nose. I've got medicine to take care of it, but it bugs the crap out of me.
Which, of course, reminds me to take a zyrtec.
The new regime of taking half a pill every other day of my cholesterol medication seems to be working well.
Getting old sucks. I don't recommend it if you have a viable alternative. Like a fountain of youth. Or maybe the blood of virgins (willingly donated, of course).
Now there's an idea...a modern Karmilla who sets up a medical research program to get young virgins to donate blood. Then baths in it.
I'm actually in the office this morning. We're going on a pipe mill visit, and I'm riding with my coworker(s?) to the place. It's up near College Station, so will take us about an hour and half one way. It means we probably won't get back to the office until around or after it's time for me to go home, but I don't mind.
And I had a pretty great drive to the office this morning. Minus a few idiots and one a-hole school bus driver.
Had to take a break and hit the head. Then my coworker stole my coffee so I would go in his office and watch trailers.
We won't leave until about 7:30 am, so I've got a bit of time to relax and maybe even take care of some actual work. Though I'll try not to. The work, that is. Not the relaxing.
The wife and I finished up our rewatch of Reacher Season 1 last night. Such a great story.
We also caught the two new episodes of Bosch: Legacy. Those two episodes were very sad. Poor Jimmy.
Pathfinder LO Special Edition, Maps, Pathfinder Accessories, PF Special Edition Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Starfinder Superscriber
I am re-watching seasons one and two of Bosch: Legacy before I watch season three.
Cloudy and rainy. That started yesterday. And later tonight, we're supposed to get a cold front move through that'll drop low temps back down in the 50s. That'll be nice.
The rain part still sucks, though. I was hoping to give the dog a bath this weekend.
I suppose I could just let her run around in the rain for about 10-15 minutes and call it a day.
Yesterday's trip the pipe mill was really cool. The place is one of the more modern mill in the country. I'd seen pipe forming in video before, but seeing it in person was so much more interesting.
I think everyone should visit a place like that. It might help them be better informed when it comes to realizing just how much goes in to providing them the many modern conveniences they enjoy. Some people need that.
After the visit we hit a local BBQ joint for lunch. Had some turkey, some brisket, corn, and beans. Threw in a couple slices of bread for good measure. It was a great lunch.
And we still got back to the office in time for me to put in an hour of work on the computer.
Or maybe I should say "work".
At home we had dinner, then I did a bunch of mapping while my wife and daughter watched some BBC murder mystery show my mother-in-law got them hooked on.
Then I had my turn at the TV. Watched a bunch of episodes of that new Kevin Bacon series Bondsman. It was interesting. They definitely ripped some of it off from the old Brimstone TV show. The FX were a bit better, though.
Oooh....I just saw that Dark City is getting a 4K UHD release. I already own it on Bluray, though. Otherwise I'd be picking that up.
