Anyway, I'm very pleased today is Thursday, which means I won't have to drive to this place tomorrow.

Scarab Sages

Time to drink about a gallon of coffee and not even pretend to make anything resembling donuts.

Scarab Sages

What the hell? Are all the scammers at a convention and doing cocaine together? So far today I’ve had two scammer calls, a scammer email, and two scammer texts. And that’s just within the last 2 hours.

Scarab Sages

In other news, a coworker was showing us his Shaquille O’Neal signed shoes. Those things are easily 4 or 5 inches longer than my own shoes, and I wear a 9.5.

Scarab Sages

Ye gods! Now I’ve received two spam emails at my work email address. It’s a madhouse!

Scarab Sages

It’s like I hit the scammer lottery.

All I need now is a few Nigerian princes to reach out to me.

Scarab Sages

Well, yesterday sucked balls. Not completely, but enough.

Scarab Sages

We had an angry call from a client, and I got pulled into the meeting. I had some minor mistakes on some documents. Typos mostly. There were a lot of other, bigger mistakes on said project.

Anyway, the project manager on the client side was kind of pissed. And to be honest, he should have been. At the same time, he was kind of a dumbass himself, calling for things that weren't allowed per his company specs, and not giving us the information we needed (or giving us bad information).

So I don't feel too bad if that particular PM doesn't want to work with us anymore. The other PMs for that client are more than happy with the work we've done, or so I hear.

Scarab Sages

Still, I'm hoping this means the a-hole will leave me out of it when they perform their hydrotesting. On Saturday. When I don't work. Or get paid to work.

Scarab Sages

Other than that, HAPPY FRIDAY!

Scarab Sages

It's a chilly morning here. Somewhere in the mid 40s.

Scarab Sages

I've been up for about an hour and half now. Took the dog out to potty. Took my medicine. Played some D4. Now I'm close to starting my workday (typically around 7 am).

Scarab Sages

I think it's going to be a rather uneventful day. Maybe. I've been waiting on the designers to get me some drawings to check. Every so often I've been answering questions as they ask.

Scarab Sages

That reminds me....I've got to get some clothes going in the wash.

Scarab Sages

Happy Saturday?!?

Sure, why not.

Scarab Sages

It certainly has the potential to be at least moderately happy.

Scarab Sages

After all, I get to go to the comic book store. That's always fun. And I'm getting an Amazon delivery a day earlier than expected, which is always cool.

Scarab Sages

As for the weather....it's going to be cloudy all day from the looks of it. We'll see if the sun ends up peaking out. We're in the 50s at the moment, but are supposed to climb up to near 80. Looks like we've got some rain coming tomorrow and Monday.

Scarab Sages

Got a lot done for work yesterday. With the modified site layout the client wants, we were able to reduce from two P&IDs (Process and Instrumentation Diagram) to one for each site. So my designers consolidated the two drawings for each site, then I marked them up as needed.

Hopefully, the client won't insist on any more radical changes.

Scarab Sages

There is still one big question we need answered. That'll have to wait until at least Monday.

Scarab Sages

I dropped the boy off at the church yesterday for a campout with his troop. He should come back good and worn out. Not only do they have a lot of the usual day activities. They were planning a night hike last night, after they arrived and set up camp, as well as another night hike tonight.

Scarab Sages

I was a little bummed to find out the new Scoutmaster wasn't going on the campout. He had a family event to attend this weekend. Instead it was going to be the old scoutmaster.

Scarab Sages

I heard that Tyson lost his fight against that young punk. Sad. I was hoping he'd beat that little jackass into a bloody pulp.

Scarab Sages

I call him a young punk, because that's what he is. I've got to give him some credit, though. The kid has found a way to earn a lot of money, even if it is a grift.

Scarab Sages

After finally watching Dune Part 2 last night, I started reading the novel again. One line caught my attention, probably in a way it never did before.

It was when Reverend Mother Mohiam and Paul are discussing the Butlerian Jihad and the testing for humans conducting by the Sisterhood. Mohiam says...

"Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them."

I can't help but look at this race towards AI and think of that line. I think I trust the AI more than I trust the people trying to create it.

Scarab Sages

Look at me being all philosophical and stuff.

Scarab Sages

Happy Sunday!

Scarab Sages

At least I hope it will be. Definitely a rainy Sunday.

Scarab Sages

Thankfully, the rain dropped off enough for me to let the dog out to potty without her getting sopping wet. It didn't stop completely, but a towel fixed that problem.

Scarab Sages

Speaking of the dog.....last night she got to chase a racoon. It running along the top of the back fence when I took her out. The little trash panda ran along until it was in the neighbor's back yard, then stopped to stare at me.

This morning, the dog nearly got to do the same with a possum coming the opposite way, but it stopped before it got to our back yard. I think it realized she was there.

Scarab Sages

The other day, while waiting for the school bus, my daughter mentioned she hopes it doesn't snow this year. I told her even if it does, it probably wouldn't stick very long.

I told her about when we lived in Philadelphia (she was born after we moved away). How we'd get the first snow, and sometimes the piles from the plows would be with us until spring. They'd just get bigger and bigger with each successive snow.

Scarab Sages

Anyway, later today I'll have to go over to the church to pick up the boy. I'm guessing the troop will get back from the campout around 11 am or so. Maybe earlier. Depends on how quickly they leave the camp. It's only 40 something miles away.

Scarab Sages

And this afternoon I'll pop a few turkey breast tenderloins into the smoker. That'll be the main part of dinner tonight.

Scarab Sages

Then I've just got to remember to bring one to the office for my coworker. I kept promising him one last time, but forgot.

Scarab Sages

My daughter was watching some How to Train Your Dragon TV show. She loves the movies as well. Pretty sure she's seen every episode of this series multiple times, since she was quoting parts of various episodes.

Whenever she watches stuff like this, I like to tell her about the greatest on-screen dragon of all time - Vermithrax Pejorative.

Scarab Sages

And now I've learned that Dragonslayer is on 4K. So I've got a copy coming my way through Amazon.

Huzzah!

Scarab Sages

That reminds me....I really need to start padding out my physical media collection. There are a lot of classic fantasy movies out there I should own.

Just off the top of my head:

Krull
Legend
Ladyhawke
Excalibur
Willow
The Lord of the Rings Extended Edition Trilogy.

Scarab Sages

That last is something I did own on DVD. These days it's always on Max (or whatever HBO is calling itself), so I haven't been too worried.

Scarab Sages

Oohhh...I just realized the release date for Godzilla Minus One on 4K here in the States is just a few days away. I've been content to watch it on Netflix for awhile, but really want to own that one as well.

Scarab Sages

Speaking of Godzilla Minus One, I saw a rumor article the other day that Takashi Yamazaki turned down multiple Marvel projects so he could direct a sequel to Minus One.

Smart man. Why attach yourself to a sinking ship when you have the chance to follow up on an awesome, award winning movie you made. And one that actually made money!

Scarab Sages

Well, the boy’s back home. And just ahead of some more rain.

Scarab Sages

At least I don’t have to go anywhere else today. Just do some laundry and reading. Maybe a bit of bagging and boarding.

Scarab Sages

And my daughter had found a new animated show about two things with cup heads. It once again convinces me the creative minds behind most kid shows are whacked out of their minds on some serious drugs.

Scarab Sages

Damn! I nearly forgot. It’s been ten years today since my father passed away. I still miss him, but I suppose that’s one wound time is at least making easier to handle.

Scarab Sages

Happy Monday!

Scarab Sages

I hope it will be, at least.

Scarab Sages

I did have a very good drive in to work. Only caught two lights, and one of those was only for a second or two. The rest of it was pretty smooth sailing. Although the school buses did try to get my caught up waiting for traffic when I exited my subdivision. They did not succeed

Scarab Sages

I just discovered a small cut on my knuckle. Nearly a scratch, to be honest. I'm just not sure where it came from or when it happened (other than very recently).

Scarab Sages

And the damned dog did have an accident in the house this morning. It wasn't too bad, and I cleaned it up pretty quickly. Still, it was after I took her out to potty.

Scarab Sages

We've got two new designers starting today. I look forward to it. We need more designers.
