It’s a beautiful day in this neighborhood,
A beautiful day for a neighbor.
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?
Won’t you be my neighbor?
And ‘tis a most beautiful day. The sun is shining. The grass is green. The water’s wet. The sky is blue.
I’ve got all my “have to drive somewhere” necessities done for the day. Now it’s just around the house stuff. Clothes washing. Maybe finally putting the Halloween decorations back in the attic. Hell, u might even put the giant, inflatable turkey up.
After all, I do have things to be thankful for.
And the boy could stand to have more time away from electronics.
Also, for some strange reason I keep thinking of a line from Stripes…..
“Lighten up, Francis.” It was one of the Big Toe’s finer moments.
Anyway, now that my lunch has had time to settle, it’s back to real life things.
Allergy wonkiness notwithstanding, it’s a beautiful evening to grill some burgers.
Although, I do try to cut down on beef these days. And I’ve been pretty successful for the last two years.
To be honest, though, I probably shouldn’t be hanging outside, jamming to tunes. Pretty sure I need to be taking some allergy medication again.
Speaking of medication - part of the bloodwork I had done the other day will check my cholesterol levels. Hopefully I won’t have to start taking that medication again. One permanent pill for the rest of my life is enough.
One good thing about the whole time change crap - when I’m grilling in the evenings like this the sun isn’t blazing on me anymore.
Just looking at my backyard - the grass came through the summer pretty well this time. Nowhere near as dead a last year. And I hardly ever watered it.
My front lawn, however…..
Before I forget….Stoopid New Mexico. Why can’t you tell me I’m licensed already?!?
And now…..mmmmmm, burger.
Rainy Sunday, anyway. Still happy though. For me at least.

That's because I'm not a miserable fool or mentally ill. Would that other people on these boards could say the same.
Yesterday afternoon I had briefly considered going over to Lowe's for another refrigerator water filter and some light bulbs. I put it off because I didn't really feel like leaving the house. I figured I'd just do it this morning.
Now, with it raining, I'm regretting that decision. Not that rain bothers me too much. I just find it more annoying.
Kind of like certain people around here.

I recall a time when I certain group I helped found was sad to see someone go. Or, at the least, we didn't revel in it. Pathetic.
And yet, I am not in the least bit surprised.
Anyway, other than some laundry and that trip to Lowe's I don't have much in the way of chores to do. At least, not that I can recall.
I don't even have anything to cook today. When I bought the hamburger patties at the grocery store yesterday I had intended to grill them this evening. Yet the "sell by" date on every single pack was no further out than today. And since I dislike cooking something on its "sell by" date, I cooked them yesterday instead.
So now I have nothing to cook today, because that pack was like 8 patties, and we only at three yesterday.
My daughter is occasionally good for at least two (she's a good, red-blooded American), but she's come down with a bit of a cold. So she wasn't as hungry.
I finally finished reading my Rom Omnibus volume 2 yesterday. So now I might move on to one of the other five omnibuses or 4 Marvel Epic Collections I've had sitting around.
I might also do some bagging and boarding. Lord knows I need to get on that. I really don't want it to take another ten years.
Well, it looks like the rain has stopped. Not sure about the "see clearly" part. It's still very cloudy. I think we're supposed to have a mix of clouds and sun until later in the week. Then the rain will return, however briefly.
Just as long as there's no rain next weekend. The boy has a camping trip with his scout troop, and I'd hate for him to have to camp in the rain.
Thinking more about the possibility of bagging and boarding today reminded me I've really got to see about ordering another set of drawers for my comics. I ordered a pair of them (each with 8 drawers) about 10 years back from this dude in Pennsylvania. I've always wanted to order more but until I had gotten my engineering career restarted it was a bit too much money to justify.
Luckily, that's no longer the case.
Although, I do think this time I'll order a set or two that are a bit smaller. Maybe 2x2. That's be easier to move around. I could even maybe put them upstairs.
Either way, I've got to reorganize the ones I've got now. There are some books I'll have to pull out and move to a box instead. That would make room for the crap ton of Batman comics I picked up awhile back. It was something like 87 issues. Cost me a good bit (over $1K), but it was worth it.
Because....Batman.
An old friend of my has a daughter who's a senior in high school. I just saw the post that her daughter's high school beach volleyball team won the state championship. What a great memory to take with her as she moves on to something else.
Another buddy posted an old concert advertisement - Motely Crue with special guest Guns N' Roses. And so I feel old.
Not that I needed any help feeling that way.
I am suddenly reminded of an old saying....
Boom boom acka-lacka lacka boom
Boom boom acka-lacka boom boom
Another old friend is currently visiting India with a another friend of hers. I might be just a little jealous.
I would love to go see the Ajanta Caves. All the pictures I've seen of them are spectacular. I find it only slightly hard to believe that apparently no one who develops RPGs has created a location inspired by the Caves.
Although, I suppose it's easier to believe in this day and age.
That reminds me....I should really order The Shadow on blu-ray. I wonder if it's in 4k....?
Anyway, I suppose it's time to go work on a map while I finish my third cup of coffee. Then I can get ready for my day.
I'll leave the posting to less cool people for now.
Well, so much for cool people. I guess if I don’t do it, it doesn’t get done.
Damn! Christmas decorations have become way tacky, and way more expensive. I was going to get some new stuff at Lowe’s, since I had to throw out some broken stuff last year. It all either sucked, or was more money than I thought was worth it.
Now that I’ve had lunch, my daughter is watching 101 Dalmatians. It got me thinking - who’s the bigger villain? Cruela DeVille or Malificient?
One wanted to make coats out of puppies.
The other cursed a princess with death because she wasn’t invited to a christening.
Tough call, but I might have to go with Cruella for this one.
I mean, come on! Coats? Really?
And lest we forget, this is the villain whose history a certain company tried to rewrite to make her more sympathetic.
And now baby girl asked to watch Batman: The Animated Series. How could I say no?!?
It’s the classic episode where the Batman-hating DA is forced to defend Batman in a trial held by the Arkham inmates.
I think one of the things I loved about this show, most of the classic villains were portrayed exactly as they should be - absolutely crazy, downright evil, or a bit of both.
We'll see, but it hasn't started off well.
