And by “temporarily”, I mean “nearly a year”. That’s how long before I was diagnosed and treated last time.
Thanks to (a) a poor initial choice in GI doctors, and (b) the joys of our modern (i. e. The last 14 years or so). healthcare bureaucracy.
At least I’d already made plans to work from home all next week.
Although I was hoping to go in for a few hours on Monday. We’ve got a new Lead Mechanical Engineer starting, and I wanted to meet him.
I’m curious to see if I’ve got more time working as an engineer than him.
It’s entirely possible. The big advantage he probably has is more time spent in the oil and gas industry. My first dozen years or so was spent wasting my career working for the government.
Then I spent a few years out of work thanks to backstabbing a-holes and incompetent managers.
So my total oil and gas experience is about 5 years.
Even the new kid, who’s about 20 years younger than me, probably has more direct O&G experience.
Anyway, enough boohooing. It’s Saturday. Which is typically new comic book day for me.
Not that I collect as many new books as I used to. Most of the modern stuff is utter crap. At least from the Big Two. There are still a few gems to be found, however.
And it’s encouraged me to expand my back issue collecting.
Also, the boy comes home today from Summer Camp. Which means tonight we can watch Godzilla Minus One again. It’ll be his second time, my third. I watched it this past Monday night.
Plus, I’m still toying with the idea of getting a PS5 and Baldur’s Gate 3.
Back to comic books. I only have two new books on my list today. Both are miniseries issues, which account for a good bit of what I get these days.
However, I’ve got several books I want to add. Those include what looks to be two new BRZRKR one-shots, a new Wolverine miniseries, and a new Jack Russell Werewolf by Night book (not sure if it’s a series or one-shot).
Plus there are two Marvel Epic Collection reprints I’m considering getting. One is Fantastic Four Volume 1. The other is Hulk Volume 1.
They tried to reboot Werewolf by Night a few years ago, with a new character. He was a Native American Indian, which I thought would be an interesting way to explore the lycanthropy myth.
Unfortunately, it suffered from what a lot of modern comics suffer from…..crappy, horrible, writing by people who probably shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near a comic book.
I often wonder why I keep posting here.
Not Paizo itself, but this thread. And the other “me” threads I’ve started.
I can tell the others (my comic threads and gaming thread) were just because I wanted threads on those topics that weren’t limited to one subject. Although I probably overdid it with two comic themed threads.
This one…..
This one I started for two reasons: (a) I was at a low point in life and wanted someplace to squirrel myself away (but still kind of be a part of this community) from others, and (b) I no longer felt welcome in the thread I had been a huge part of for so long (certainly longer than most of the people who now claim it for their own).
It used to bother me more, the not being welcome thing. But then I remember I’m old and cranky, so it kind of fits the lifestyle.

Not to mention “friends”, even online ones, are overrated anyway. Most people can’t be trusted.
By most I mean 99.73567%.
I’ve learned that lesson the hard way.
I think I might do a little map work. Took a Pepcid, and it seems to be calming my stomach down a bit, but I want to give it a bit longer before I delve too deeply into the things I have to do today.
Hope you feel better, Aber. :-)

Uh oh! The smallest human (in the house) is awake.
My mother is back with us. The wife and kids will bring her back to Louisiana tomorrow, then stay for a week.
I’ll stay here with the dog, and work from home most of the week. That way I don’t have to lock her in her kennel all day for the whole week.
I bought a PS5 yesterday. It’s set up, but has been doing a data transfer from my PS4 since around 1 pm yesterday.
My problem is I jumped into the transfer too quickly. Should have done a bit more research and preparation. It could have been done within an hour if I had.
That’s what I get for being an old man.
However, we can do stuff on it, or even watch TV, and the transfer will run in the background. So long as we don’t turn either PlayStation off, it’ll be fine.
Egads! The old woman is awake! I can hear her moving upstairs.
I’m gonna marinate some chicken breasts today and put them on the grill this evening for dinner.
There are four of them, so I should have something leftover for myself during the week.
Our buddy who’s been visiting with my brother is stuck here. Turns out he brought his Subaru in for an oil change. Instead, the idiots drained his transmission fluid, then just put in a bunch more oil. So he burned up his transmission.
Now his car is being worked on my someone we trust. The folk who messed it up are paying for the repairs.
What’s even more douchey - he was camping at a local park, and they wouldn’t extend his stay. Even threatened to tow his trailer. So now the trailer is at my brother’s house, and he’s staying there while his car is repaired.
My brother, his wife, and daughters will be away at summer camp all week. My nephew, the high school graduate, is working all summer. So he’ll be home with our friend.
So, of course, my brother asked me to check on them during the week.
Have I mentioned lately how much I hate HOAs?
My brother has one of those mailboxes with bricks built up around it. Apparently, some wasps got into a crack in the bricks and built a nest. They’ve been very aggressive. Stung my nephew on his hand.
Chicken is marinating. Dishwasher is full. Almost shower time.
First, though, I’ve got to do a little facial hair maintenance.
And at some point I’ve got to head over to the store and get some Liquid Plumber. My bathroom sink is a bit clogged.
Ugh. My PS4 to PS5 transfer is still going. It’s been over 24 hours now. That’s a lot of data. At current, the remaining time is fluctuating between 8 and 12 hours.
It doesn’t bother me too much, but my boy is disappointed. I know he wanted to try and get some play time in on it.
Otherwise, it’s kind of a quiet day. The wife is napping. My mother is fiddling around on her iPad. And the children are upstairs.
And I saw my neighbor outside a little while ago doing yard work. I thought he was a lunatic for doing it in the heat like this.
The wife and children with drive my mother back to Louisiana tomorrow, then stay the week visiting with my in laws and some other relatives.
My father in law is planning to take the boy fishing.
That should be interesting.
My daughter painted a picture for my mother. It’s of my mother’s recently put to sleep dog, Amy. My mother was thrilled with it.
