My work at this fab yard was about done (funding-wise). Now the client has informed me they would like to keep me around until at least another two weeks (until the end of September).
This is both good and bad. Good, because my office doesn't have a lot of other work going on. So this will ensure I stay employed for the next two weeks. Bad because I'll still have to deal with the shitty commute and idiots working the project.

For an example of idiocy....
A month and change back, the client said to make sure everything is built to the Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
Yesterday, the visiting client rep told me we needed to add isolation valves for the sight glasses on the multi-vessel. These valves are NOT shown on the P&IDs.

I am slowly coming to dislike being a cub scout den leader - mostly because it's a big pain in the ass for me. I can't rely on the other parent's to be helpful in all this. And even if I could rely on them, I'd prefer not to, since they'd probably screw things up anyway.
Have I mentioned I suffer from the belief "if you want something done, do it yourself"?

This second year is going to be particularly trying - my boy and one other scout attended day camp over the summer. Each of them earned six belt loops - mostly elective adventures, but one was a required adventure.
So now I have to plan things out so I'm not repeating things the two of them did at day camp. At the same time, there's at least the one required adventure I have to repeat at some point, so the other kids can earn their wolf badge.
And too many of the electives they left out of day camp are ones that suck ass.

I managed to restrain myself at Target this weekend, and only spent about $65 on new Halloween decorations.
In my defense, one of those was a $30 headstone. I love the ones they have at Target, because they're usually the heavy, durable kind. I dislike the foam ones.
Anyway, I try to add at least one headstone most years. This year I also added to large-ish skeletal bats, and two plastic zombie arms that stick up from the ground.

Well, that was an eventful week.
I had to move over to the fabrication shop's new facility, since they took the Wi-Fi device out of the office I had been using at their old facility.
We had our first Pack Meeting of the year for the Cub Scouts. That was....chaotic. Not sure I'm looking forward to this year. My total for scouts in the den is up to 15 (maybe 14 if they kid who dropped out mid way through last year stays dropped out). And, according to the Scoutbook website, one of them is a girl. So now I have to check with the cubmaster to see if they're going to keep her separate or not. I can't recall how we said we'd work it.
Saturday night we had my two nieces sleep over. My brother and his wife were going to an Astro's game. That was fun.

And, so far, today is my final day on this project from hell. I know the fabricator is sad to see me go, as each PM has come to rely on my to help keep things on track.
Whether or not the client will come through with an extension remains to be see. If they're going to, however, it better happen before COB today.

The boy was feeling like shit yesterday morning, so wife took him to the urgent care. He tested positive for both Strep and Flu.
To make things a little more crazy, after his first round of medicine and a good night's sleep, he seems to be feeling infinitely better today. Weird.
To make things even more crazy, I'm feeling just a bit off, the wife is feeling blah, and she's supposed to be leaving for a week-long business trip to Greece later this evening.
I told her if she's really worried about being sick on her trip, just go to the urgent care and get tested. If it comes back positive, she's got justification for cancelling.

Sooooo...apparently Turner Classic Movies (TCM) is doing a Monster-of-the-Month, and this October it's the Mummy. From what I can tell, this means mummy-themed movies every Sunday. HUZZAH!
Yesterday, I recorded three of the 40's Universal Mummy movies. I watched two of them already - The Mummy's Hand and The Mummy's Ghost. I'll probably watch the third one, The Mummy's Curse, later tonight.
