For the new project, incidentally, we are merely “retrofitting” them. Probably changing up some tubing and control mechanisms, cleaning things up a bit, and adding new wiring.
Not sure why we’d need new data sheets for that. Unless the client asked for them. Which I doubt they did. This particular PM loves to over promise.

Yesterday morning, just before 7 am, I received a Teams message from the new kid. Her badge wouldn't work to get her in the building. So I said I'd be down to let her in and headed that way.
As I was getting off the elevator in the lobby, she came walking over. She asked me if I had some kind of app that opened the door from upstairs. I had to explain to her the doors automatically unlock at 7 am, which it had turned as I was riding down in the elevator.
It was an amusing way to start the day.

I also warned her to stay out of the stairwells. If her badge isn't working on the front door, it probably won't work on the stairs either. I'd hate to see her get trapped there. That happened to me when I started.
You'd think they could have figured out a solution by now. It's only been a few years.

I rented an anime movie off Amazon Prime last night (it was somewhere in the neighborhood of $3). It's an older one from '97, called Perfect Blue. Very much a psychological thriller, with some not-so-subtle commentary on the effects of fame. And some questions on what is and is not real. Not the usual type of anime I've seen, but I liked it.
What lead me to it was an article talking about the movie getting a "remastered" treatment. Eventually, it'll be out on 4K physical media. No firm date on that - sometime in (what's left of) 2025 or 2026.

I saw an article speculating James Mangold's new Paramount deal could negatively impact the Swamp Thing movie he was supposed to be working on for the GunnCU.
Seeing what offerings the GunnCU has already given us, plus the ones it has planned, and considering Mangold's last big movie was a complete dumpster fire, I'd say this is a good thing.

At the start of every school year, the cub scout packs will get new members. Not sure about others, but our district gives them all these model rockets you can put together and launch. The launching can, I suppose, be done on your own. However, there is also Rocket Day.
Today is our district's Rocket Day.
So older scouts and adult leaders will be running Rocket Day at one of the local elementary schools. It runs from 9am to 1pm.

As I believe I mentioned before, a pair of my sweatpants have worn out in a rather uncomfortable (for other people) location. So I've been trying to find a new pair.
Walmart has been sadly lacking in the style I like, so two years ago I ordered a pair off Amazon. That pair did not fit properly. Yesterday I went back into my Amazon account to see what kind I had previously ordered, so I wouldn't make the mistake of ordering them again. That's when I realized just prior to ordering that not-fitting pair, I ordered the pair I'm currently wearing. That pair does fit.
So I ordered that same, "does fit" pair in a different color.
And a different style came.

Anyway...
I decided to break out the Vincent Price blu-ray set I purchased a few months back. I watched two movies from the set.
Pit and the Pendulum was first. I'd seen that before. It's a Roger Corman directed adaptation of Poe. He and Price did several of these. It also had the great Barbara Steele.
The second movie was The Abominable Doctor Phibes. I had never seen that before, but had heard about it. It was.....weird, but entertaining. The movie was set in 1925 England, but some of the decor was clearly from the 50s and 60s. That was a little off-putting.

Revisiting that bit about Amazon having to pay a fee if it cancels any of the remaining seasons of Rings of Power. I seriously doubt that's what is stopping them from cancelling, considering the fee is reportedly only $20 million per episode. I'd bet good money that each season of that abomination costs the studio way more than the $60 million it might cost them to cancel whatever is left.

Watching the model rockets launch reminds me - I own an engineering drawing of the first stage Saturn 5 rocket. This is from my father’s time working for NASA as an electrical technician.
I bought a frame for it at Walmart years ago, but now I’m considering having it professionally framed at the same place I had my Kelley Jones Dracula art. This way it can have a nice frame AND get some UV protection.

Speaking of awesome….
My coworker recently became aware of Hymel’s Kajun Kitchen. The dude who runs it is kind of like a younger, less awesome but more tech savvy version of Justin Wilson. The dude puts up videos of cooking, and has some of his own products.
So my coworker bought some of us Hymel’s Baw, Dat Good, Yeah! Cajun seasoning. The seasoning is not half bad. Haven’t watched any of the videos. When it comes to Cajun cuisine, I’ve already got plenty of recipes and cookbooks.

My brother’s girl troop is running the concession stand. They ordered a bunch of pizza to sell for lunch. So I sent the boy over with $5 to get himself a combo: slice of pizza, drink, chips.
I might get a slice of pizza. My stomach might be able to handle it. I had two donuts earlier without a problem.

Tired zombie is tired. That Rocket Day took a lot out of me. Especially towards the end, as the day got a bit warmer. Still, it was nice.
I was a bit saddened seeing one youngster who lost his rocket after it was launched. The wind must have taken it and they never found it. Poor kid was bawling his little eyes out.

Going back to Lovecraft's Dexter Ward story. There was a movie inspired by and (very) loosely adapted from that story which came out decades ago. It's called The Resurrected. It starred John Terry and Chris Sarandon.
The movie was originally intended for a theatrical release, but never got there. Instead, it ended up direct-to-video. I remember seeing it once on TV, years ago, and loving it.
I discovered a 4K edition of the movie on Amazon recently. It said the release date would be 28 October. So I've got that preordered.

As I mentioned previously, I saw my brother, his wife, and daughters at Rocket Day yesterday. The older of my two nieces, and my godchild, is a junior in high school but already starting to look at colleges.
She's got a eye towards Equine Veterinary Medicine, and is looking at two colleges here in (THE GREAT STATE OF) Texas. So my brother and his wife are taking her to visit those schools when the district has their fall break. That'll be not this week, but the following week.
