Ugh!
The parents of two of our scouts are....obsessed....with seeing that their sons make it to Eagle rank. So much so, they gave their sons an ultimatum - no driver's license until the Eagle rank is earned.
They even sent their youngest to summer camp with another troop, to further his advancement on merit badges. And that's where one of my current headaches is coming from.
She sent me a "report" from that troop with the Merit Badges he supposedly completed, as well as requirement for other badges he worked on without actually finishing the merit badge. The report, however, is very barebones. Almost looks like something that could be done on Word. It doesn't even have dates. That, to me, is a problem. I'm going to have to talk to her about it.

Gods damn it all!!!
I ran some errands, including getting the truck washed and picking up some new Halloween decorations. Then I grabbed some lunch to bring home. While I was eating, a crown popped off.
Not the one that was just put on, though. This was an older crown on the other side of my mouth. It doesn’t hurt, thankfully. So I’m hoping they can just glue it back in place.

On the other hand...
And older scout who hadn't been around much finally started coming back to meetings. He was telling people last night he's determined to make it to Eagle. He even scheduled a Board of Review for next week to get his Second Class rank.
Unfortunately for him, he's already 16, and still only at Tenderfoot rank (until next week maybe). He turns 17 next February. I'm 99.9% certain there's almost no way he can make it to Eagle.
For one, he's got to advance to Second Class, then First Class. He's got to be at First Class for 4 months before he can earn Star. He has to be at Star for 6 months before he can earn Life. And he has to be at Life for 6 months before he could earn Eagle. Which he has to do before he turns 18. By my calculations, he'd need to earn First Class sometime in October.
It's not unpossible. Just improbable, given his track record.

And the wife is a little angry with me. The kids have a week long school break starting, I think, on the 13th of October. She wanted to leave that weekend prior and take them to Louisiana for a week.
The boy has a camping trip that weekend, however. He needs to attend it in order to finish up some requirements for First Class. I've been pushing him to try and earn that rank by our next Court of Honor, which is the last weekend of October.
So if he goes on the camping trip, she wouldn't be able to leave until that Monday for Louisiana.

(Again) On the other hand.....
My brother #3 is coming to Louisiana for a visit that same week. I know my mother wants me to visit that week as well. And my younger brother called me last night (I missed it), probably to tell me he's going in with his family that weekend, and to try and pressure me to go.
I haven't seen brother #3 for awhile (11 years, maybe). Not that it bothers me. My mother's been bothering me about coming in for awhile now. Especially to see her sister, my godmother. She's in a home.

Anyway, I am in fact toying with the idea of replacing my wife on the trip to Louisiana. We can't both go, because our dog is an a-hole and can't be boarded anywhere. And we don't have anyone I can trust (or that the dog likes) to act as a house sitter.
So if I go, I'd have to take off at least one day of work, then be remote for that entire week. Of course, if the wife goes, I'd have to work from home that whole week anyway. Again, because of the dog. Can't leave her locked up all day.

And my revisit to the dentist went well yesterday morning. They were able to just cement that old crown right back in place. It's a crown that had some additional work done on it at some point, and the dentist thinks some moisture probably got underneath it and caused the cement to eventually weaken.
Annoying, but at least it was easily repaired.

Yesterday, the PM on one project asked me to do some wall thickness calculations on a 1.5-mile-long pipeline for a client. It's got NACE requirements, because the gas flowing through it will be sour (hydrogen sulfide present). So even though the pipe specification doesn't specify a corrosion allowance, a note says you should consider one for pipe that's part of a gathering system.
I could have sworn that I had seen email reference to this pipe as a gathering system but couldn't find any trace of it. So, I proceeded on the assumption it wasn't a gathering system. After I sent off my calcs, the designer forwarded me an email that did indeed show the pipe as a gathering system. Not one that I had seen, though. So that was really weird.

I have come to the realization that my habit of snacking between meals has grown over the years. And the beginnings of this growth go back twenty years ago, to when I quit smoking.
It is something I've been working on reducing. Something that is far easier to do when I am not bored. Hence my efforts (not always successful) to almost constantly be occupied with...something.
