I've got to remember to put in my time sheet for this past Friday. Typically, I put it in the day of, near the end of the work period. For some reason, though, this past Friday I was unable to access the time sheet site we use.

I blame Microsoft and its stupid Authenticator.

Scarab Sages

And while I'm on the subject of Microsoft....

Why do so many people insist on using that Onedrive crap? From what I can see, it sucks. It's overly complicated, prone to glitches, and not all that much improvement over just having a special drive on the server.

Scarab Sages

Management has nevertheless decided to move all our projects to Onedrive. Despite that we have a perfectly fine T: drive. I'm guessing it was the idea of some "genius" in IT.

Scarab Sages

And what the hell happened to my cooler weather?!?

Scarab Sages

Oh, wait! Yeah, I forgot. South Texas.

Scarab Sages

Anyway, time to move on to other posts, before seeing what this $#@thole has in store for me.

Scarab Sages

Hmmm...

My coworker brought me some smoked meat. It's either chicken or turkey. To be honest, I was only partially paying attention when he told me.

Scarab Sages

And my supervisor is out for the day with a sick kid. I remember days like that.

Scarab Sages

Happy Tuesday?!?!

Scarab Sages

We shall see. I have some ideas I need to work out. One came to me last night around the time I went to bed. The other came to me in the shower this morning (where I do some of my best philosophizing). I shall have to try and work through them at some point today.

Scarab Sages

I did have to write myself a note about one of those ideas. Only because it was several questions that might be useful for an Eagle Board of Review. So I had to jot the questions down.

Scarab Sages

I did at least have another not bad/not great drive to the office. Except for this one douchenozzle in front of me on the interstate on-ramp. As we got closer to merging with traffic, he started to....SLOW DOWN?!?

Sorry, jackass. That's not how this is supposed to work. I got cut around him as quickly as I could and got far away from him. People like that are a menace.

Scarab Sages

There's a PLC meeting tonight for the scout troop. That's Patrol Leader Council. It's most of the scout leadership meeting with the Scoutmaster, deciding the upcoming schedule of activities for the troop. So, I've got to bring the boy over and pick him up when it's done.

Scarab Sages

When my son was previously the Quartermaster, the old scoutmaster (who doesn't like either of us) excluded my son from those meetings. His own son, the second quartermaster, was invited.

The current scoutmaster, who's far better in the position (not to mention a much nicer dude), has my son attending.

Scarab Sages

Anyway, after the meeting, I have to stay behind a little bit and do a Board of Review for the Scoutmaster's youngest son. My boy will just have to be patient and sit for awhile.

Scarab Sages

I'm almost done with my rewatch of season 1 of Alice in Borderland. With the new season coming out on the 25th, that leaves me nine days to get through the 8 episodes of season 2. If I mix it up a bit, as mentioned yesterday, I should be able to time it pretty well.

Scarab Sages

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Just remember...You are never worthless!

Organs go for a lot on the black market.

Scarab Sages

Anyway, time to finish up my usual posting. Then I get to move on to whatever other fresh hell the day has in store for me.

Scarab Sages

The monthly birthday celebration was a breakfast thing this morning. They served bagels, so I didn't go. I've never been much of a fan of bagels. They're not bad, or anything, but I always found you have to put something on them to make them edible. Too much effort.

Not to mention, it would have required me to walk downstairs and associate with other people.

Scarab Sages

Ye gods! My boss came over to my desk (just as I started eating lunch, of course) and asked me to help him with a bid! What in the wide, wide world a sports is a goin on here?!?!

Scarab Sages

Happy Wednesday?!?

Scarab Sages

Yeah, I suppose we can roll with that.

Scarab Sages

I had no problems getting ready this morning and had an easy drive to the office. So I guess that's a pretty good start.

Scarab Sages

And yesterday I actually didn't have a single industry standard review on my timesheet. That's the first time in a while. Granted, I was still on overhead for everything, but that's only because the construction guys who do the budgets never get it correct when budgeting for engineering.

Scarab Sages

And I finally got word the big BIG boss downstairs approved my check for the New Mexico PE license renewal. So, this morning I have to go pick up my check from the young hottie downstairs. Huzzah!

Scarab Sages

She actually sent me a Teams message yesterday the check was available. Unfortunately, she sent it like 3 minutes after I left for the day.

Scarab Sages

And we have a lunch and learn scheduled for today. With the exciting title of Asset Guard Safety Containments and Polyurea Rehabilitation. Thrilling.

Hey, though! Free lunch.

Scarab Sages

As long as it's a good lunch. Knowing the douchnozzle who organized this thing, it has a good chance of being something crappy.

Scarab Sages

One thing about having a music mix on Youtube....when the radio isn't playing jack squat, you have a back up.

Scarab Sages

And we have a new Life Scout in the troop. He's a good kid, and is only 13, so he's got a lot of years left. He should be Eagle by the end of the school year, which will still give him at least 4 years in the troop. Hopefully, he'll stick around and maybe inspire other scouts.

Scarab Sages

Huzzah! My renewal form for the New Mexico PE License has been shipped via FedEx (the best!).

Scarab Sages

Otherwise, the day is crawling by. I had lots of actual project work yesterday. Today? Not so much. Back to the usual industry standard review. The lunch and learn doesn't start for another hour, so I might have to snack on something beforehand.

Scarab Sages

At least I don't have anywhere to go this evening. Other than a brief trip to the pharmacy, that is.

Scarab Sages

I did hear back from my doctor, and he doesn't think I'll need medication for my cholesterol. Just diet and exercise. Huzzah?!?

Scarab Sages

Mmmmm...Rudy's BBQ.

Scarab Sages

And it turns out the lunch and learn actually WAS really interesting. The company produces and installs polyurea liner and a similar spray for various containment, waterproofing, and corrosion protection applications. It can be applied to concrete, steel, and even dirt. It was pretty cool.

Scarab Sages

Happy Thursday?!?

Scarab Sages

We shall see. I do at least have one thing to look forward to, but that's later this afternoon.

Scarab Sages

I had a mostly decent drive to the office. Near the end of it, as I was moving into the lane for my interstate off ramp, three flat-bed semi-trucks got over ahead of me. Luckily, I was able to get around them all, without being slowed down.

Scarab Sages

And it turns out they are finally hiring another Mechanical Engineer. This one is a young lady, supposedly very smart. At least, that's the way she comes across in her resume. Management has said they're going to groom her for a project management position.

They're probably going to sit her near me. Which means I'll have to be on better behavior than usual. I doubt some millennial can handle me being myself.

Scarab Sages

At least, not without running to HR and whining like a baby.

Scarab Sages

Still, it does worry me. If they're hiring her, they might not need me for much. Except, of course, for the states I'm licensed in.

Scarab Sages

Either way, I've been looking for a new job for a while now. And I'll probably keep that effort up. This place has become...boring. I'm hoping to find something with just as decent a commute. Or, at the least, not too much worse.

Scarab Sages

I do have a webinar to attend later this morning. So that's something different. The subject will be API 653 inspections. That's a standard that covers tank inspection, repair, alteration, and reconstruction.

Scarab Sages

Two movie-related articles just caught my eye. One kind of sucktastic. The other potentially good.

The sucktastic one had to do with Matt Reeves second Batman movie. Sadly, it won't hit theaters for another 2 years. That's a long time to wait for what should be the only decent Batman film to come around in the near future. And probably one of the best DC related offerings we're likely to get anytime soon. Because James Gunn was absolutely the wrong man for the creative job.

The potentially good news is that James Cameron is supposedly having trouble with a new Terminator film script. After the last few completely horrible outings, I think it's safe to say..."Thank the gods!".

Scarab Sages

You've got to love industry/government bureaucracy. API 653 is for tank inspections. Currently, that standard is on its 5th edition. The 6th edition, however, has been approved and will soon be available for purchase.

And yet....DOT/PHMSA still requires the use of THE 3RD EDITION. And even though 6th edition is forthcoming, some states will continue to require going by the 5th edition.

Scarab Sages

Happy Friday?!?

Scarab Sages

The only reason I question the happiness of today is because the children have off from school. Something about a "Staff Work Day". I'm guessing the teachers sit around, drinking wine, eating cheese and crackers.

Scarab Sages

Stupid school district. I have to live with these things. You couldn't take them for one more day?

Scarab Sages

Next week, there's a lunch and learn on Tuesday. Sadly (or not), that's the same day I took off because I'm getting the permanent crown on my tooth. I took the whole day because I needed to use some of that PTO anyway.

Yesterday, however, I found out some of the guys are going to an affiliate company down in Corpus Christi because an NDE company I used to work with in my Navy days is giving a demonstration. And even though it probably won't be any of the people I worked with, I'm still sad about missing that.
