A Pink Panther film with Eddie Murphy?!? That could be interesting. Given the state of modern comedy, however, I wouldn't hold my breath.
And I see that it looks like The Batman 2 has been set to start filming some time next year. Also that Gunn apparently shot down rumors it would have Robin.
Frankly, I'm amazed Gunn allowed the film to move forward, considering Matt Reeves DC efforts have proven vastly superior to Gunn's own work. I honestly don't think the little egomaniac can handle that especially well.
Speaking of the Gunnverse...I don't currently see Superman breaking the $600 million mark (though miracles do sometimes happen). Which means it will probably lose money for Warner. Not the most auspicious start for what is supposed to be the foundation of a new cinematic universe.
Sad. Since it was a fairly adequate superhero movie.
At least it has a good chance of beating Fantastic Four. That movie I'd be surprised if it breaks $400 million. Though it is close enough maybe international box office sales can push it over that particular mark.
It's now looking like that particular movie will also be a money loss for Disney. We'll know the answer to that one a bit more accurately, I think. I heard they filmed part or all of FF in the UK. Which means the documents they had to fill out won't let them obfuscate the real numbers forever.
And I have learned that I cannot sit on the floor very long without suffering for it. Getting old sucks.
Well, it's Monday. A very Monday Monday.
To begin, I was awoken around 2:30 this morning by the dog needing to go potty. So, I took her out, and she had a bit of the hershy squirts. When I brought her back in, I realized she had already done a bit of hershy squirting in the house. Had to clean that up.
Then, the drive to the office was rather annoying. There were many traffic lights involved. And just when I thought the road gods had finally seen fit to have a little mercy on me, some jackass on the feeder road nearly side swiped me.
Finally, I get to the office, and there's a suspicious car in the parking garage. As I was entering the garage, he was pulling out of a parking space. He then proceeded to another parking space as I was parking. Then proceeded to another parking space as I was exiting my vehicle and walking to the building. I paused just inside the doors to see what the car was doing, and it seemed to just be sitting there. With the engine still running, as near as I could tell.
That was about 15-20 minutes ago. I'll probably go back downstairs in a minute to see if the car is still there. Later, I'll go check my own vehicle to make sure it wasn't messed with.
And now this website is acting all weird. So, yes. It is a very Monday Monday.
Which now has me nervous. These all seem to be very bad omens.
Last Monday had omens that were nowhere near as creepy, and that day turned out to be quite horrible.
Still, I don't expect too busy a work week. That's become par for the course around this place.
I think back to just over a year ago, when I had an offer to go work somewhere else. I turned it down because the commute would have been horrible.
I regret that decision these days.
The dog had a better night, so the wife and I slept better. That already puts us ahead of yesterday. It never ceases to amaze me how much a bad night's sleep can really mess you up.
And the drive to work was much better this morning. I did have a few traffic lights that waited until I had stopped to turn green again. That was annoying. Overall, however, the ride was adequate.
And there was no creepy car acting all weird in the parking garage this morning. I even sent an email to our HSE guy yesterday. He politely responded (probably while thinking I was an idiot).
It is going to be a long day, however. The boy and I have to attend the first scout meeting of the year tonight. Should be high attendance. These first ones usually are.
And one of our older scouts sent me a message yesterday that he got his Eagle paperwork in and (I'm guessing) approved. So now all we need is the remaining letters of recommendation (currently have 2 out of 4), and to set a time for his Board of Review.
We shall see. My own morning routine went well. I got ready for work, then woke the boy up for his first day of high school. Hopefully, that goes well for him.
My drive in was rather decent as well. Made it through a lot of traffic lights, which always makes me happy.
I can see this website is still acting up. I wonder if it’s only because of my work computer. It seems to be doing better through the phone.
Wouldn’t surprise me if IT is messing with things.
Hey, though! Thomas is back! Huzzah!
Turns out his wife was ill. Something about a kidney transplant not going well. I hope she does better. Thomas is one of the few people around here I actually like.
Well, if all went according to plan, the boy is on his school bus about now.
Our first scout troop meeting of the year went well last night. I had to get up and speak, so made sure to crack some jokes and get folk laughing. Someone has to do these things.
Otherwise, I don’t expect much of today. It does look like I’ll be getting an Amazon delivery a few days early. That’s always nice.
I saw an article about the dude who created the Weapons movie, with his next project being a Resident Evil movie. That could be interesting.
Well, perhaps.
I did manage to avoid the dog having another accident in the house last night. She woke me up a little after 11 pm. So I took her out and she looked to be having more of the Hershey squirts.
So good for me that I didn’t have to clean up poop. Bad for my fur kid that she’s not feeling well.
And my drive to work was decent, despite the presence of the PoPo slowing everyone down.
The first day of school did bring an unwelcome revelation. The building they were putting up along my route home is indeed a school. I had feared it might be, but was hoping maybe for an office building with a daycare. No such luck.
So now this will be my former route. I’ll go a different way so as to avoid the car rider line for the school. It backs out into the road and causes traffic. On a major road.
Sadly, that’s one of the few downsides of Texas. They are poor planners when it comes to locating schools in such a way as to avoid hellacious traffic jams. Even here you can’t avoid incompetent bureaucrats and government planners.
I ordered the latest Conan the Barbarian comic omnibus on Monday. Amazon originally said it would arrive Friday. I got it yesterday.
I put a PTO request into our system on Monday. As per usual, my supervisor is taking his own sweet time doing anything with my request.
I’ve got a dentist appointment that morning, and figured I’d spend the rest of the day doing something productive. Like cataloging my comics.
Geez, these delays in the posts I put up are really annoying. I wonder why it's been so slow lately. If it's my office network or something with the Paizo site itself. Whichever reason wouldn't surprise me.
I took PTO today, so not even working from home. Damn skippy it's a "Happy" day.
I do have a dentist appointment in just over an hour. It's a cleaning appointment. No biggie. And I like the chick that cleans my teeth. She and I get along really well.
Although....last time I was there, for an adjustment to my night guard, the assistant looked like a brunette Milly Alcock. So I wouldn't be disappointed to see her again.
I also plan to spend at least part of the day trying to figure out why my sprinkler system is functioning. It vexes me.
As a bonus, the wife and I will probably go to Wacky Mongolian for lunch. Mmmmm....
As an additional bonus, I may try and go see Weapons. I keep hearing good things about that movie.
Otherwise, I may try to catalog more comic books today. I currently have 2318 books entered into my catalog. A drop in the well.
I saw a picture that was apparently tweeted out by the official D&D. It looked like something that would be more at home in a game called Clowns & Cabaret. Pathetic.
How the mighty have fallen.
In other news, I'm done with my dentist visit. However, I have to go back in two weeks. Cavity in an old tooth, and it'll have to get a crown now.
Because it's Saturday, which means no work work. And because it's my new comic book day.
