It's a bright, sunshiny day. Though it is a bit on the cool side. Very upper 50s this morning.
Rough night, though. Not for me, but for the girl. She was very congested from allergies, and having trouble sleeping. The wife offered her some medicine, but she didn't want it.
The situation was resolved eventually. Without need for my intervention, thankfully.
And the boy is off on his camping trip. Hopefully he will have fun. And hopefully the troop will win. I did sort of tell them they couldn't come home if they didn't win first place. I was mostly joking.
My brother is there as well, with his daughters' troop. He sent me a picture of him and my boy last night. I had given the boy a bag of wine corks to give to him (something he had asked my wife about months ago). Hopefully that worked out well.
Methinks I hear the wife finally up and about. I have my ear buds in, listening to some music, so it's difficult to be sure.
I suppose I could go check...
Well, I DO need a second cup of coffee.....
Work yesterday was mostly boring, until the afternoon when I was hit with some teams messages about a project we've been working on in drips and drabs. Nothing fancy, but it's at least going to start picking up. And this is for the gas side of one of our clients. The side we like.
Should be a pretty typical Saturday. Albeit a bit more quiet and without the boy being on my computer. My plan consists of the usual at the moment: grocery store, comic book store, laundry.
I might finally try to make it over to the place I found that does professional framing. I've got some original art by Kelley Jones I want to get framed up nice.
And I've got to remember to check my sprinkler system for leaks. I opened it up yesterday and everything seemed good. I also did a test run, but forgot to check if that triggered any leaks. We were having trouble with that last summer, but I think it might have been because one of the vent valves wasn't closed all the way.
Seems the universe had other plans for my afternoon. Maintenance light came on for the truck. Mostly just routine stuff, but also rear differential fluid. I’m not concerned about the cost, only the time it takes.
Mmmm…..Grandma’s Cookies are the best. It’s one of the few good things about sitting here in the Honda Service Center.
Mmmm….again. Chicken wings.
It's a bright, sunshiny day! The temp is still a bit cool at the moment, but it's going to be a warm day.
It's already been a busy morning. I'm currently working on my second cup of coffee. I've already taken the dog out twice, supervised the girl in feeding the dog breakfast, washed some dishes (by hand of course), and took the girl to get some donuts.
Now I'm debating giving the dog a bath. Normally I'd have the boy here to help do most of the work, but his troop won't be back from camping until around noon. I could hold off until he's home, but I hate waiting that long.
I was contemplating what to watch on TV last night. After searching through Amazon, Netflix, and HBO Max, I settled on one of the few movies I've actually purchased digitally - Brotherhood of the Wolf. It's a French flick from back in 2001. The three most recognizable people in it for me are Mark Dacascos, Vincent Cassel, and Monica Belluci.
The plot was inspired by the legend of The Beast of Gévaudan, so it's a period piece. It's got a good bit of action, taking good advantage of Mark Dacascos' skills. And, of course, there's Monica Belluci. At the time, probably the picture perfect embodiment of sensuality and feminine beauty.
And by later tonight, I'll be able to watch The Eiger Sanction. That movie and Halloween (the 1978 original) were initially supposed to be delivered this coming Tuesday, but Amazon decided to get them to me early. Huzzah!
Mmmmmm...Dunkin Munchkins.
Speaking of the boy and his troop...
I'm guessing they did not continue their winning tradition of the last few years. If they had won Camporee, we'd probably have seen a post about it on the troop Facebook page. Could be someone just forgot, but I doubt it.
Sad, but those are the breaks.
"Another glorious day in the corps."
Speaking of the Corps. It's my coworker's birthday this Wednesday. Since he's one of the of few coworkers I actually like, I've gotten him a birthday present. I just have to remember to bring it with me that day.
The overnight weather was decently cool, and the drive in was pretty nice. Hopefully, the day will continue on as such.
Although it is a bit warm in the office at present. That tends to be a problem as the weather gets warmer. The building's AC shuts down (or at best runs very minimally) over the weekend. So, on Monday mornings it has to play catch-up. It's a bit uncomfortable at first, but that changes within an hour or two.
I think I might actually have some project work to do this week here in the office. I'm thankful for that. Hopefully, it means work is finally starting to pick up a bit. It does tend to slow down after the first of the year.
Watched The Eiger Sanction last night. Great movie, and one of my favorite Clint Eastwood movies. And it has Thayer David. Dude was creepy, but a solid character actor.
It has the potential to be, at least. Whether that turns out to be the case will be up to the Universe.
I'm sure it will at least be good for someone. However, I still retain that foolish hope that one day, somehow, life will be good for everyone.
To quote Arthur from Excalibur, "It is a dream I have."
Such an awesome movie. I really should see if they have a 4K copy of it.
Of course, the only problem with seeing everyone happy is that it seems some people's version of happiness is to see other people miserable.
I started watching a new (to me) series last night. It's another Korean show, called Gyeongseong Creature. Start's off in Japanese occupied Korea, near the end of the WWII. There are secret experiments going on, and some missing people set events in motion for the protagonists.
It's weird, but interesting.
Not as long as day as usual for a Tuesday. There's no scout troop meeting tonight, but the scout leadership will meet to plan things. They're switching over to new leadership, so I'll have to bring the boy to the meeting.
For someone, anyway. I know that I will most likely not have a happy day.
To start, I'm not feeling that well. Stomach issues again. This seems to be the norm for me now. No matter what I eat (or don't). And despite the various medicines. New normal like this I can do without.
Secondly, I heard from my brother last night that my aunt (mother's older sister) is back in hospice care, and it's not looking good. She's my godmother, and I've got a lot to be grateful about regarding her treatment of me. She could be annoying at times, but I suspect that was just the teacher in her. Anyway, we'll see how that plays out.
Still, I at least had a fairly decent drive to the office this morning.
And it's my co-worker's birthday. So I got him a present. Despite that he's having a birthday party and didn't even bother to invite me. That's okay. I've come to expect that kind of treatment from people. You're their friend, but only so long as your useful.
We did have a first for me yesterday. In all the decades I've been in the workforce, I've never had a single email warning me about the angry bees infesting part of the building. Yesterday. I had three.
There's a big balcony/garden area here on the third floor, between the two "towers". They keep a beehive out there. Yesterday, the beekeepers did something to piss them off. Some of them got into the lobby and nearby stairwell. Several people were stung.
The last email was a warning to steer clear of one of the stairwells (the one I usually use) this morning because they were going to remove the hive. Not sure if they're going to replace it or what.
So, anyway...yeah...bees.
That old SNL skit kept running through my head...The Killer Bees. I think it had Elliot Gould.
I started to write "Happy Friday!" because it feels so much like a Friday. The office is closed for Good Friday tomorrow.
That's a lot of Friday in one post.
It's still a bit cool a night (though that's changing), and my drive to the office was pretty good. Interestingly enough, one light was out and blinking, but actually made the drive better. Weird
.
The Angry Bees are gone. They took them away yesterday. One of the newer dudes working here was completely clueless that we even had a hive outside. He even walked up the stairs they told us to keep clear of yesterday. Lucky for him, they weren't bringing the hive through at the time.
